The entitlement when some mongers overpay

So this is just a little piece of what's happening over my first week here.

Keep in mind these girls were inside the club, female to male ratio was 10 to 1 and they were sitting being blocked by a wall of other girls standing so mongers couldn't see them. We only saw them because they were sitting at the table behind us.

So I got both the numbers and and told one of them 400 K each for the night for my friend and I, dos palvos. It was a simple deal, my friend gets one girl and I get the other, no sharing girls or any thing crazy like that. Both girls demanded 1. 1 mil or $100 for the hour or $300 for the night each.

My friend an I are not about to drop $600 combined on some average looking chicas when we have endless options.

Needless to say, instant delete and we just went with girls that were already know. Prices already set based on our history of knowing them over the years and zero bullshit haggling from being over charged.

One taxi driver told me that I have to pay 20,000 pesos instead of 8 because it was raining. We argued in the taxi but he had home-field advantage and I had already given him the 20,000 expecting my change. It's not the money. It was how he try to handle me.

I noticed their overall attitudes were far more deceptive from when I first came. It's like being back in a DR where you have to ask them how much before you conduct any business.
Bro if you hopped in a taxi without first agreeing on the price then that's all on you.

If you go from the airport terminal, they add an airport fee for airport pickup. Often I have walked a couple of blocks away, onto the main street, by the drug store and hail my cab from there. Also they have a rate chart. Normally 8 mil sounds like the regular rate. But the rate is higher after certain hours and possibly on weekends. Ask for the rate chart if you feel they are taking advantage of you.

Thats exactly how there were getting us. They would say its raining and streets are flooded so it cost more. But to be fair we did have to drive very slow through some foul smelling water every night in Bocagrande and EL Laguito. After the first 2 time they got me with the 20 mil on this trip I just tell them "10 mil a Centro" or 10 mil a El Laguito" then when they say no I start walking to another taxi and it quickly changes to yes jajaja.

Same shit the motoconchos use to do to me in Sosua. I know its 50 pesos to get from where we were to the beach or Anvee but they wants to charge 100 or 200 pesos.

    Every day haggling jajaja.

    Anyone has seen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXATfZKoJ1Y ?

What are the chances of finding a cute girl like this who can speak English like her in Cartagena?

    Kafka,

That is interesting take. Honestly, though, I had to pass on going to Cancun in the summer months because of the amount of rain. In the fall, there were hurricanes and tropical storms. I thought the Mexican Pacific was hurricane free, but then they had a small one while I was in Acapulco. I was told Cartagena is hurricane free.

The one place I saw that always had sun and good weather was Cabo San Lucas. Thing is that when you get into the depths of winter, it can get pretty cold there.

Damn, what a shame. I'm scared to even go to Cartagena now. I'd be scared to even approach a girl in the clubs and ask for services. They probably would do stings or something idk. Any idea about that? Are we able to approach them in the side streets and in clubs or is that an issue too? This is crazy. I really need to know otherwise I'm just going to stick to Medellin and Bogota for my trip in January.

Now that's a sad photo. I loved hunting at the Clocktower Plaza last April. Cartagena, I can take or leave but the Clocktower was fun.

Cancun generates $20 billion a year and oil generates $10 to $15 billion for Colombia. Does Cartagena have the infrastructure Cancun does? Nah. The beaches? Nah. The fun things to do like the Xcaret parks? Nah. Las Vegas style shows? Nah. Easy 2 or 3 hours flights from Mexico and the USA? Nah. A sane Covid policy for tourists like Mexico? Nah.

Mexico cracked down on prostitution. They did not want the image of being ho to the USA sex tourist and outside of Tijuana, a big city in and of itself, the Boystown areas in the border towns like Laredo, Reynosa, and Juarez became virtual hoing ghost towns. However if you traveled to Guadalajara, Mexico City, or Monterrey inside of Mexico, you could find Western style strip clubs, escorts, and sugar babies galore and for not very much. So if you were to follow the Mexico model, that is what you should do. Keep the hos but keep them away from the families and not so out in the open..

Cut off the head the body will die

President Iváand Duque announced that foreigners involved in sexual crimes will be deported.

Those who are caught in Cartagena seeking sex tourism services will be declared "non gratas", said President Iváand Duque this Saturday, during the launch of an offensive against sexual exploitation in that city on the Colombian Caribbean coast.

"Tourist who in this country intends to fall into any of these practices, will not only be deported, but will be declared persona non grata, and of course, before the commission of any crime, the respective prosecution will proceed," said the President.

The so-called 'Christmas Security Plan' implies the arrival of 50 additional police officers and 10 of judicial investigation, who will be in charge of monitoring and prosecuting those involved in sexual crimes in Cartagena.

The control of piers, hotels, establishments, and especially in the Clock Tower, one of the best-known entrances to the walled city, where sexual tourism is reported from the early hours of the day, will also be strengthened.

Defense Minister Diego Molano said that three critical points were identified inside the walled city, where sex tourism has been identified and that they will be monitored by the authorities.

"This also implies a special effort with the Attorney General's Office and the Police, with the most wanted in this type of crime, in addition to a contribution from the Ministry of the Interior to strengthening the mobility of the Tourist Police in the city," he said. Defense Minister Diego Molano, who accompanied the launch of the strategy.

I usually do InDriver or Uber and its only 8 or 9 K but then we have to wait 10 minutes for the car to show up as opposed to just walking out and allot of Taxis are there waiting. Also the Taxis drive faster and more aggressively getting us there faster. The Ubers drive like its their firs time driving a car, slow and steady.

I'm 100% guilty of not wanting to wait and end up paying the gringo price, when I'm ready to go, I'm ready to go jajaja.
