When I first went to Cartagena back in the previous decade I Iearned some real life experiences traversing the city. Now through my Cartagena chicas and amigos (Colombians, not Venezuelans) I have been able to pretty much avoid the Gringo Tax. When I go to Playa Hollywood I deal with Oscar. I met him through one of my chicas. I always get an umbrella, 2 chairs and a table. Sometimes a cooler with ice because I bring own Club Colombia beers, bottled waters and food / snacks from the nearby Exitos. That will cut expenses. Only on occasions I get the Morro Fish plate or Sancocho. Sometimes me and the chica eat before or after the beach. When I go to Tierra Bomba Island (Punta Arena) it only cost 35 k. It includes round trip boat, Full lunch, fish or chicken, table, chair, shade with palm leaves on the beach. We also ride Chiva Rumbera Party buses for 25 k. It will pick you up in El Laguito near the Hilton and drop you back off. Ride for hours drinking partying and stop at popular places around Cartagena like Botas Viejos, the Cartagena Letters at the beach, Forts and a few bars. This weekend me and one of my Colombian chicas will be taking the bus from Centro to Baru and then a boat to Rosario Island with lunch and transportation back to Centro for 60 k each..

Yeah I am talking about non touristy stuff. I try not to get chicas anymore as I have a GF here and another girl who just comes over for sex and maybe dinner from time to time. Met both on bumble dating app. Olympica is expensive. Kroger or Walmart back home is a good bit cheaper IMO.

If I am by myself and not with my GF I usually spend right under 100 k pesos daily unless I have to go to Olypmica LOL.

Holy crap. Olympica LOL. The way some people act in there drives me crazy. Worse than China imo. Just rude cutting no space for anyone to walk. The other day I was pushing my empty buggy to go. In the entrance. Well an eldery man came from the opposite direction and I stopped to let him go first. The Olympica worker saw this and literally grabbed the front of the buggy and pulled it in against my will very rudely. I was left dumbfounded not sure if its worth getting into a fight with a local or not but if that gad happened in the US where I know the rules I would have lit into him.

The doorman at my building also demonstrates thus overly forceful rude behavior from time to time. I am always wondering if it is worth escalating or not.

My number one rule while travelling has always never been to got into a fight with a local just ignore or walk away. I adopted thus rule after getting my face smashed by 2 beer bottles and a few fists by some low level Taiwanese mafia in Taipei when I mouthed off to one one night having no idea who he was connected to. Sometimes it is very difficult to just stand there passively while someone disrespects you though or is rude.

All these excursions are information from my chicas. I tend to gravitate towards the flip side of Cartagena, the local scene. Not so much tourist side of things. Having a chicas that can cook is awesome and also saves. I have gotten groceries at Olympic and Exitos and let chicas cook what they want and they will take the leftovers, spices and other ingredients home gladly. I have cut my expenses by more than half in Cartagena now. The apartments I rent in high rises in El Laguito near the beach averages $25 USD per day and able to sign in guest.

Gringos and other tourists pay inflated prices because they follow the template like sheep. Some just pay and do as they are told to do. Also if a chica quotes her price doesn't mean it should be paid. Everything is negotiable. Don't ask them how much first, always make your offer first. Its easier to negotiate from your proposed rate than down from her higher rate.

I prefer to try to enjoy it as a local though my local connections. Locals will help you save because they don't pay those rates.

Not trying to blow my spot up, but I just wanted to do a little comparison between the prices in Cartagena and Pradomar Beach that I went to today in Barranquilla. In Barranquilla they had all the prices up on the wall for everyone to see. So there is no mistaking the price you are getting charged for what. Also there was no charge for the chairs or shade thing. I was there with one of my nurse chicks and 5 more of her family members.

On the bill you can see that we were charged 152,000 for 4 beef meals, 2 chicken meals, 1 big ass fish (that turned out to be some of the best fish that I have eaten in my life) that I had, and including the service charge which was 10,000 (take note guys that overtip). Each meal came with soup, salad, coconut rice, and plantain. The most expensive beer is corona at 8,000 and the cheapest is Aguila for 3,200. She had brought 2 3 liter sodas from home for us to drink though.

Compare that to a mf in Cartagena wanting 130,000 for a chair, umbrella, and 2 drinks. That shit is funny as fuck. I always talked shit about how bad the beach in Barranquilla is, about it being dirty and shit, but I have to admit that I had a good ass time today and enjoyed how warm the water was. An old dog can be taught new tricks.

I get ready to leave and ask Tony for the price and he tells me 130 for the chair, umbrella and two 20 k mojitos I bought for him and myself. I take my sunglasses off in disbelief. I ask to see the check and he doesn't provide one he just starts talking real fast. Eventually I talk him down to 100 which is severance pay as I won't be using his services for the remainder of the trip.

The biggest lesson I took for this trip is to diligently ask the price of everything upfront and get a firm price. "Everything" includes chicas, food prices, beer prices, beach chair prices and so forth. You may have to ask "Cuanto" multiple times until you get a price but don't let them off the hook like I did.

Playa Hollywood.
Decided to hit the beach in search of some daytime chicas. Ran into the one and only infamous Tony. Skipped the cabana and beach chairs, sat down near the bar. Tony brought over two girls from Cali, none of them really tickled my fancy.
The girls ordered two coco locos, one limonada de coco and one bottled water.
Total Damage = 130 k plus propina.

This chica is a very attractive, peroxide blond, with a hell of a nice figure. When she told me she is here with her three kids and showed me their photos, I could not believe it. They are all under ten and she says that her sister looks after them at their apartment in Bocagrande while she makes her evening rounds. Plus, she has another advantage as she has dual passports since her Father is Venezuelan. Her Colombiana mother lives in seeúcuta and is in failing health. Delirium is just like any small bar in buckhead Atlanta or down piedmont near the strip clubs. A tonne of "ballas" showing off for everyone. It's literally just like Atlanta expect all the women are pros obviously. I reported back in August they did the same to me and my friends, then we got fucked because of immigration operations. We were left surrounded by dicks and then they wouldn't let me back in when I went outside to see what was going on.

She later told me the bouncers do this if the girls don't sleep with them or they don't sleep with the owner of the club. The way she worded it was "they are wives of the owner and she doesn't want to be one". Also she mentioned something about the rules are all girls must wear heels to get in, which made no sense at first because I saw girls in sneakers inside but then I later realized they came in with guys.

I stayed there in Jan 2020 and all the security were cool guys that even helped me out with my mongering. Please let us know if the situation has changed there because I had a great time and want to go back to that building this winter.

No it is not that place. Never heard of it. I upgraded rooms in the same building. Got a very nice place now. Annoying building management though. The new official rule here us visitors are okay before 6 pm and if after you need to let them know in a few days advance the friend's name and ID number. Will have the same Venezuelan girl from Isis over on early Saturday and just go at it a few times then go to the beach and have some drinks and repeat. From now own when I go out, will just book hotels in centro in advance.

This is my 4th day here in Santa Marta on this trip and feel like heading my way to Barranquilla today and check out the scene there.

The funny thing is that there were not many people inside, not that many guys and lots of what appeared to be single girls. On my prior visit, it was difficult to get to the bartender from the front due to the crowd so walked around to the side of bar to order a drink. My girl commented on the lack of people also so really unclear what their strategy or business plan is.

Years ago I worked through college and grad school at a popular night club that was always packed and had a line going up the street so we would go outside once we were getting close to the fire code limit and pull the most beautiful girls out of line and bring them in because that's how you get guys to spend money.

So to me what you are saying is some weird rules for any night club but LDV gets its bread and butter from guys coming into see the girls. I do not understand the reasoning of filling the place up with swinging dicks.

Years ago when LDV was in Laguito they first had this rule that a girl could not leave with a guy unless the bartender could vouch that the guy had bought them two drinks. Then a couple of years later they actually instituted a drink minimum (I think it was like 30 k COP) so the burden was on the guy and the bartender had to vouch that the guy had spent his minimum to be able to leave with a girl. Sort of like a bar fine in Thailand a little. I heard various reasons for this. One being that too many guys came in for the women and did not buy more than one drink. I also heard that the owner at the time was in gambling trouble and looking to increase their revenue any way they could. I for one did not mind so much at first , they are a business that provide a service so I should help support the place some. I would also tip decent so the bartender would more likely remember my face. But a couple of times it turned into a little bit of a hassle with the bouncers challening whether you met the minimum and then having to get the bartenders attention when they are busy. I started not even bothering going in. I would just hang out where most of the girls got out of the taxi and if I saw one that looked good I would snag her there.

A couple of days I mentioned that I was denied entry to LDV. I was initially under the impression it was because it was too crowded or due to Covid regulations. Then I read someone else say it was because they don't want single guys and want a group of guys to get a table for table service. Tonight I met this chica for a drink I had met last week in LDV. She asked if I wanted to go with her to LDV but I declined and proceeded back to my apartment. After I arrived, she texted me to ask if I could come over to LDV as the door was not allowing single unaccompanied girls in. I am only a few minutes away so agreed to help her out but first I had to literally run the gauntlet walking over there with chicks coming out of the woodwork, grabbing me etc. Sometimes more than one but it must have been a dozen in a two block radius from my location.

When I arrived, she came down from Space with two other friends, all of them from Venezuela. One of her pals is a mousy looking little girl who looks more like a forlorn librarian than a P4 P though I figured she is prob really wild in the sack. Anyway, they let us all inside. I hung out for five minutes as it is really not my scene but did take in the view. After five minutes, my friend said just tell the front door you need to go to the ATM and will be back shortly, which I did. So end of story, but the place was not very crowded. Maybe they want to be like Tu Candela, which does not allow single girls in there either. According to my friend, single ladies are not allowed in Donde Fidel. Period.
