You ended up staying almost at the border where it turns from luxury to poverty. Right next to that building is a wall with a huge empty lot and the highway turns from a 2 way highway into a 1 way highway leading cars back to Centro. Completely fucked up my mind the first time it happened to me as were driving then all of a sudden, all the cars were coming at us and that's when we realized we ran out of road for our side of the street jajaja. Good times, good times luckily it was in the daytime.

I have read carious accounts of the laws around this, it seems to happen a lot that Venezuelans are not allowed in some places but there are also those who report that it is not legal to bar Venezuealans because they they actually have some type of legal status called Temporary Statute of Protection for Venezuelan Migrants (TSPVM) due to Venezuela being virtually a failed state. Them more recently I read that Venezuelans can go and register (does not say anything about needing a passport to get temporary residence but you would think they need some ID) I know this is probably too late information for but I am not sure that the Vennies are even aware of this.

Cartagena was my original destination for my first visit to Colombia. I didn't know much of the country, but Cartagena'a beautiful weather made it seem like a natural choice. However, after doing my research here and other sites, I realized it was a very limited city compared to Medellin and Bogota. Parts of the city, especially the old city, are truly beautiful, and there are some nice beaches on the islands. Other than that, this is just a high priced tourist trap where everything is priced two to three times the rest of the country. I started out in Barranquilla this time- a cheaper flight from FLL than Cartagena, and found both the lodgings and chicas a great bargain. Very nice hotel rooms for the $30-50 range with plenty of decent Colombian family hotels in the $10-20 range. Lots of spas and casas, as well as beau coups of agencies and independents, with prices ranging from $40 k COP for 20 min up to about $150 k for an hour of top shelf cooter. Barranquilla is a port town, and you know how those sailors like their chicas. They’re not only cheaper, but far more appreciative of the occasional propina. Not only that, Barranquilla is the culinary capital of Colombia- there are probably twice as many restaurants there as Cartagena, and they're all cheaper and better. FWIW, the beaches at Santa Marta and Rodadero are much better and an easy rental car drive from BQA.

Other than that, Medellin is still the Gold Standard. I meant to check out Bucaramanga, which seems a bit like Barranquilla economically, but it'll have to wait. Save your money and go just about anywhere other than Cartagena.

Its depends on the Monger. If they are into you they will do it for free, if they aren't they will charge extra. If they see you as a one timer, they will try to get the most out of your pocket, if they know you as a regular, they will see you as safe work.
