Have you considered forwarding this thread to the CDC? Maybe they will see how inconvenient it is and make some changes.
No matter what you think about it, the rule is there. Complaints probably aren't going to change it. If I was on the ground in Colombia, or planning on an upcoming trip, I'd probably devote some time to figuring out where and when to get tested.
I don't have to do that because the airlines are going to do that for me. Given the rate of false positives which is already established and the number of people who are going to be stranded at airports in foreign countries calling their embassy. This will be simplified sooner rather than later......
None of this is required for travel within the United States..... it's a fact that the United States actually has more coronavirus than any country we could possibly travel to..... And we actually have all these new strains as well.

Since they are responsible for checking for test results, ID check with your airline as to where you can get the test. And ensure that you get the correct test.

Three Americans were arrested with false negative COVID tests
Colombian authorities detained three US citizens who intended to leave the country at the Rafael Andúñez de Cartagena de India's airport, for which they presented false negative coronavirus tests, official sources reported this Thursday.

I am with you on this.

They have lost all credibility and the only thing left is got brute force. I personally think they should implement some common sense precautions and vaccinate and get on with it.

There is currently no evidence to suggest being vaccinated does not prevent you from being a carrier.
There's also no evidence to suggest that someone who was vaccinated can infect anybody else. Because there are statistics from the flight attendants organizations we do know that there is minimal risk of getting covid from flying. So this is complete bullshit but a contrarian like you of course is going to make some proclamation proclamation about it.

For what its worth cities like Sao Paolo have PCR tests at the airport and they guarantee results in four hours. Just saying, it's completely doable. It's a major hassle though.
Pretty sure Panama City also has a testing center at the airport.

If you look at figure 3 in this link, https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.105..._railB_article#, you will see that that 19 people (out of around) 14,000 got Covid even after getting the vaccine.
There is still a chance you can get Covid after the vaccine but if you do, the evidence shows it will be much milder.
As for why to get the vaccine, 269 people got Covid who got the placebo and not the real vaccine. That is where the 95% reduction came from. In addition, there were 30 critically ill people with Covid and all were in the placebo group.
I suspect in the future that you will not need a Covid test if you can prove you had the vaccine and do not have a fever, but there are not that many people who have gotten both of their injections yet.

Yes in regard to the new rules so you can return to the USA. In itself it is not that bad but when you look at all the other drawbacks I think this is the straw that broke the camels back. To many negatives now to travel to monger.

Uggg I got hammered with that hard as I booked my flight to LA via Korea and am leaving in two weeks. That means for me an extra day in Phnom Phen, and two trips to the Khmer Soviet Friendship Hospital to be wacked for $130 for a test and certificate. I was hoping to beat it.
Y'all better get used to it. No one is going anywhere without a test and or a vaccine or both and I bet its both. I considered moving my flight out and staying longer, but I don't see the requirement being lifted soon. Its the way of the new world. China won.

Anybody know where are the test centers near El Centro? Do you allow gringos and how much they are charging for the test?
Hello,
I recommend that you go to the medical center called Medihelp, it is located in Bocagrande Cra 6 a No. 5 - 101, it is known and has a good reputation, so I do not think that they lend themselves to scams with these covid tests.
