So, now that I have a few minutes.

At Playa Hollywwod, we were being helped at Bar #4 by Jhon "The Genius" (self-proclaimed). Good guy, and of course, the standard rule applies. He has everything. I have dubbed it the 3 T Rule. Todos Tienen Todo. Anyhow, just a quick word of caution. When he pulled the girls over, they did their job, in the form of two shitty coconut drinks to the tune of 30.000 each. Our 8 beers cost 48.000 total. So, I messaged him none of that bullshit, today, and he agreed. There were 3 girls, and we had two come over. The flaquita (https://www.facebook.com/mariadelosangeles.parrareyes), Maria, speaks no English. She is Venezuelan, about 5'7, nice skinny body, some tattoos. If you go to her FB, click on her photos on the left, I would venture to say the one from August 23 is going to give you the best idea of her appearance. She eventually copped an attitude, but she was good for the majority of the day. I don't know details about the session, but she duped the rookie into 200.000 for one pop. They did hang out for a few hours, including the beach, session, and grocery run. My little mulata goes by Tiffany, (no FB, but I have cell # / wpp). Maybe 5'1, 90 lbs. She was a little vixen, cute dimples, good body (small boobs, nice ass). She is a 23 yo mother of three, and I only noticed her hatchet wound in one position, and given the shape she is in, it didn't really bother me. Not the best BBBJ, but the thought was there. I think maybe she has a nuva ring, because a couple times I felt something twinge. We headed to Torre del Reloj, in search of dinner and action. Two or three stunners, at 1030 p on a Wednesday night, right in the heart of the action. Freelancers. We bounced around, but it was pretty quiet. We stopped into Alquimico, which was a treat for my buddy, as it is pretty impressive to watch the bartenders buzz around and make their handcrafted cocktails. It was quite busy, as was the rooftop (which is more casual than downstairs). We ended up going to Porton de San Sebastian for dinner. I thought the prices were high. Maybe, 45.000 average for an entree. However, the pasta I had was good, and the house speciality steak that my buddy ordered was a hit. We stopped by LDV, which was a bust, and then hit KGB. I had the worst White Russian of my life (no ice, all Kahlua), but the decor is unique, to say the least. We decided to head back to Bocagrande, and had one beer at Mr Drink. The lights were insane in the place, I felt like I just got surrounded after a midnight car chase. The locals were dancing and doing shots, it was a decent change of pace for the evening.

Today, it's gym, Getsemani for touristy shit and food, then head to Bar #4 to meet Jhon for some drinks and chicas. He will have mota for my buddy, and I'll try to remember to report on that, later. I have Jhon's number / wpp, if anyone is interested. My buddy turns 30 at midnight, and it's the start of the weekend. More to come.

Will be in Cartagena late January and it is more convenient for me to visit a brothel rather than the night clubs since I would be able to visit only during the day.
From all the reading of the posts all the brothels are situated more inland far from the Centro / Bocagrande / Laguito area. Does anyone know of any decent brothels inside these areas?

Brothels in CTG are mostly NOT for the first time visitor, or someone who has little experience of Colombia. There are no casas in Centro or Bocagrande. You should refer to the Map for exact locations and details. However, once again, DO NOT go there if you are not experienced of the environment.

If you want to get laid daytime, your best bet would probably to go to the Holliwood Beach and get in touch with some girl there. RTFF for details on where, when, how, but especially pitfalls (there are many) and opportunities. I personally weight more the pitfalls for beach girls than the opportunities, and therefore I rarely took advantage of Holliwood Beach. Not that I would not recommend that, but again I think the best of CTG is at night. Best daytime would be with a girl, or girls, met in the night and who deserve so much that you want to enjoy also some beach time with them.

Touched-down late afternoon, checked into our apartment in Bocagrande, and went to Playa Hollywood.

Back-story: Me. Mid 30's, 3rd time to Colombia, 2nd to Cartagena, passable Spanish, decent-looking, fit, white. My buddy: turning 30 this trip, 1st time in Colombia, no Spanish, Asian descent.

We went to Bar #4, towards the end, around 430 p. Had our server grab a couple girls. We had a few beers, chatted, they wanted to come back. I was quoted 150.000, but there was a problem. My buddy's girl didn't have a cedula (she is 22, mine 23). We fretted for awhile, but decided to chance it. Guard let her in for 30.000.

I told him to offer 120.000 and see what happens, but to be prepared to pay 150.000 (he has no clue about the conversion, etc, yet). I eventually convinced both girls to agree to 140.000. Both average faces (cute, but average) and tight little bodies. He popped once and ended up paying 200.000 (beginner's luck)! I paid 140.000 for two pops. My chica was a little enamored and tried to put on a show that she wants 200.000. I held firm, she threw the money into the kitchen and left. Then, the door buzzer and knocks ensued. I ended up giving her cute little pouty ass a regalito, and she was happy as a clam. We then went to the mercado for waters, beers, food, etc. The girls tagged-along, and helped. By helped, I mean, they tried to throw items in the cart. My buddy's chica flipped a switch when he didn't give her a gift, nor pay for her groceries (I told him to bring regalitos, but being his first time, he wasn't sure if I was messing around, or not). Fast forward, my chica wants to cook us dinner. His chica is on a rampage. I explain to her that not only did he pay an extra 60.000 but he paid 30.000 for her entry. She was having none of it. Pretty comical to watch her angry in Spanish, and him playing dumb in English. I got my chica to pull her amiga out, and we are off to Centro, shortly, for dinner and exploration.

Good start to the trip! I'll update with more details on the events and chicas involved, when I can. Next stop is MDE, Jan 2-8.

Hey everyone,

Long time lurker and former regular contributing member just getting back on this board after an 11 year hiatus. Had to change names as I couldn't remember my password and quit using that old email years ago. I'm looking into the Visa Travel Money card. (google it) It's a prepaid card available through AAA. I think it is a modern day version of traveller's checks and can be used in ATMs. I'll report more when I have completed my research (and purchased a card). I'm planning a trip to Cartagena and Barranquilla in March. If anyone else will be there at that time, maybe we can have a cerveza or 5 and swap stories.

But it moved from Laguito a couple of years ago. Maybe somewhere else I'm not familiar with?

1) "LA DOLCE VITA" (please note: not "La Dulce Vida") was never in front of the beach.

2) This is not Las Vegas, there is no strip, and I cannot recall any bar full of hookers on any large street.

3) Yes LDV moved to Centro, long time ago, and even changed name along the years.

Check with your bank I got hit with advance fees as well as ATM charges. I will be looking for a card that allows international charges Thank YippieKayay for the tip. The airport in CTG was the worst exchange of the three I used in the area.

Like someone else said: ask the driver around 11 pm to take you to the clocktower plaza (torre reloj). Any woman standing around without a guy next to her is a prostitute. They'll cat call you if you're clearly a foreigner. There will be touts who will offer to take you to Isis a "strip joint" which is really just an expensive hooker bar. 300 k fixed cost from Isis to a love hotel with any chica you see in there. Touts may even offer to take you to La Dulce Vida. This place doesn't get busy until after 11:30 pm and it's a hooker bar. Late night option is Elektra after 2 am.

That's all you need to know about night action for a start.

Anybody know how I can find a second apartment to rent in that building? I think it has the best visitors policy, unless there's another building you think I should consider.

This topic comes up often. I've always used my ATM card. I always charge it in pesos so I get the best exchange rate from my bank. I have a number of free international withdrawals so no bank fees. I've seen people change money at the airport but I have no idea how good the rates are. I found in Bogota's airport it wasn't so bad (right before customs).
