The launches bring annoying venders from the island to Laguito every morning. One drop off zone is right near the Hilton Hotel. The other drop off zone is a couple blocks from the old Dolce Vida location, by the Fish restaurant. Just stand in those locations and you will get mobbed as they are trying to hit every tourist many times. Like flies and mosquitos. In your Face!

I stayed in Boca Grande this trip and there were very few Venders there.

Any one else see all the soda bottles with urine in them along the roadway? And alot of street corners smell like piss too. Cab drivers don't even want to stop and piss, so they pee in a soda bottle, screw the cap back on, and throw it out the window, along the curbs. Disgusting.

I saw a video of this dude called "Danger the hook up" with barberworld (channel on YouTube). Prior to all this crazy shot going down I wouldn't even think of it, but still wondering if it might be worth the cost.

Hey man, I was in the same boat as you before my first trip, hitting up all these girls on social media and crap, wondering about tour guides, etc. Honestly, I don't get the social media aspect when you're in Cartagena- you will see, get a feel, and be able to talk in person to HUNDREDS OF GIRLS wanting to hook up with you. Drop the social media garbage and stop getting caught up in virtual threats and virtual beggars. Regarding tours, the tourist part of the city is so small you can taxi everywhere in under 20 minutes- so don't even stress about that. Only two other things you need to know, 1. Do not walk or lurk around in the walled city by yourself aimlessly with any sort of jewelry or watches on, and 2. Get a airbnb, contact the host and make sure they allow visitors. You don't really need much else advice, enjoy the trip, enjoy the first time experience of finding things out on your own- it's half the fun and excitement- have a safe trip.

Cartagena is a small place. You can go everywhere in taxi. Do not need a tour guide. I have walked to many places day and night especially inside the walled city. Tour guide may or may not help you with the girls. There are girls everywhere. Just negotiate and have a good time. There are lots of tours available including to islands if you like. In Cartagena money talks. You are not likely to find GFE girls. There are couple of beaches where you can go and enjoy. Touts are everywhere if that is your thing who will get you girls for an exorbitant price. For the first trip just go and see. If you like the place you will know what to do next time.

Why not just go on tripadvisor and look up things to do or see and take a taxi to those places if you do not rent a car?

No. I would not because everytime I travel with a woman this is the exact scenario. All they do is show up. In August I told my girlfriend that we are going to Tahiti in February. Arrived in Tahiti and hopped in a rental car and I said where to? She said the beach. I said which one? She had not looked up a damned thing. Tired of this BS. After 6 years I think I am calling it quits.

Meanwhile, my dad had been to Thailand 3 times. Took him again at the end of November. Hit the ground and asked him where he wanted to go. He was like a deer in headlights as if he had never been to the place a day in his life.

How would you even know unless they send it to you? I have said before that nobody has seen a rash of postings on their social media saying this guy did such and such. If these were not empty threats then postings as such would be in the millions and would make news stories all over. They do not know you from a can of paint. Folks are not just taking random pictures and saying this guy did this. What are the chances even that anyone you know will see some obscure post from a stranger from the other side of the planet? No need to scare that easily.

Glad I'm not the only one who hides the knives. LOL I go as far as bringing decoy items and if they go for the bait then I just adjust accordingly.

I really feel like what's going on is due to an over saturation of rookies in this hobby! I mean. I've been doing this most my adult life and I'm sure I'm still below the average age here. Starting in Costa Rica, sampled in Guatemala. Ecuador. Peru. Thailand. Amsterdam, Colombia. Maybe I've really done my research over the years and learned?

If you have a chick over, how do you leave anything out where she can get it. Fuck I even hide kitchen knives! Quick sweep through when I get to the apartment first. Have everything ready. Come back to apartment. Everything goes straight to safe except cell. I go to bathroom I take the cell with me. I have a drink, I finish it or take it with me.

Always deadbolt the door too.

Carry a copy of your passport. Tip the doormen and security. Make them your buddies. Don't get in a car with someone else. Take your taxi or Uber. Don't walk around with phone in hand. Don't wear flashy stuff. If using tinder or something don't put flashy pics. Know where you're going, look at where you're going and familiarize yourself first so you don't get lost down a dark street.

I feel like this should all be common sense.

Wanted to get some veteran insights on something that happened to me this morning. Basically I'm travelling to Cartagena soon and wanted to start chatting up some of the girls out there. So I went on Skokka and started chatting with a girl. Only a couple of short conversations via WhatsApp. This morning I received a message on my WhatsApp from her demanding money or she will post my pic with a header that I don't pay girls in Spanish. The person is threatening to send it all over social media unless I help her / them financially. I told them to go ahead as I have nothing to hide in my life. I didn't send any messages or pics or anything even remotely inappropriate nor have I even travelled to Cartagena yet. She used my WhatsApp photo to make the poster.

This isn't a huge deal for me. I'm 3000 miles away in my cozy apartment but it definitely has given me pause about the game out there. For the record, I only messaged this one girl and after the fact told myself how stupid it was but didn't think anything of it until this morning.

Any thoughts (aside from me being a total ******* for even doing this shit)?

Ignore it. It is funny these third world fucktards think the typically American run social media companies are there to promote their blackmail schemes. If they do post anything negative on you, ask the social media company to take it down and flag their account. If these assholes actually do post, they have probably done it to other guys too.

If you play the game long enough, you will have the social media threat, the underage threat, or the "I am pregnant and need money to take care of it" line. Take the social media threat as a badge of honor for playing the game.

I don't get along with Elvis and we argue all the time. But this time he is spot on. Just ignore her empty threats, don't even dignify it with a response. Where does she / he / it think they are going to post it? On FB? Well that would expose their account and you should report it as Elvis suggested. If you really are feeling feisty report the post and aftermath to Skkoka.

Do you really want to worry about a girl drugging or robbing you the whole time you are with her? Do you want to be harassed for money every time you step out of a club? Yes Cartagena is cheaper and there is more access to women, but the hoops you have to jump through to play the game there is just rediculous. You can't even bring a girl back to 95% of the hotels in the city.

I have not been to Cartagena but have made several trips to Medellin which some say is more dangerous. My sexual exploits in Medellin have been much more thrilling that those in Tijuana.

Glad to hear you're having a stress free enjoyable time there! I really think it's these guys that are rookies or just dumb. This shit happens everywhere. You don't hear about it too much because it involves a hobby not approved by most, so they hope it scares us away and puts an end to it.

Don't be stupid! I mean traveling solo anywhere you should watch your back. Europe. Asia. South America. It doesn't matter. And doing what we do just adds that much more risk.

I still fully intend on going in mid April. Staying at the same place I always do. Clean. Safe. Ocean front. Easy and accommodating.

It's not difficult to find a place that allows you to bring a guest back. You just have to know.

Did you do your due diligence by getting her social media accounts or video chatting them to make sure its actually that person you were talking to?

If you didn't talk about anything bad in the chat like P4P you can report the messages in the chat to WhatsApp and let them block the person. Of course, it may not do anything, but it will at least cause them a little inconvenience to get a new number.

They are really gearing up for Carnival! Lots of Pappaya incoming.
