It's nearly impossible in this hobby to completely avoid the drug culture, even if you are not a user. Drug use is so prevalent among the chicas, eventually you will be exposed. While knowing the law isn't going to do you a damn bit of good with a cop determined to be a prick, it is at least smart to know what you are exposing yourself to. The more accurate information you have, allows you to make smarter decisions. Thanks again for the information.

So the question remains, what will happen if the cops see you smoking a joint. I've seen young locals smoke openly in the park, with cops nearby. But we are tourist, so we can be treated differently, but I have no experience / first hand knowledge of this question.

What happens if a cop catches you with coke in your pocket? I have no idea. I've seen cops randomly search young locals in the city. Not sure if they are searching for weapons and / or drugs. I haven't been stopped and searched by cops yet. My guess is either because I look like a tourist or just luck of the draw.

How many times has been repeated that NO UPSCALE or just decent hotel in most Colombia cities will ever allow people to take girls to the rooms?
They do anything possible to discourage it, if not formally forbid it.

Urban legend? I have been stopped rudely more than once in Colombia by police. I recall one time I was asked numerous times if I had drugs while I was searched. When they found nothing the cop began to declare that my phone was not mine but in fact stolen. That's when I demonstrated the fingerprint scanner on the phone and the cop started looking foolish in front of his partner.

A law could pass tomorrow decriminalising all drugs in Colombia and shakedowns will still happen.

I have been traveling to Colombia four to five times a year for the last couple of years. You still think it's "urban legend" then head down and smoke some mj in front of police.

My experience is opposite of yours. I rarely get a second look from the police. If I do it's usually a smile or a nod.

However, I recognize that each of us is subject to different treatment from the police. I might be able to smoke a joint while standing next to the police and they may say nothing. Another person may just walk by and get searched and harassed for nothing. This is true in every country. Whether or not you are breaking the law is not part of the process.

A couple of months ago, I had asked the question "Is the new Hyatt guest friendly" and received a general reply. I was wondering, since the hotel is still fairly new, if anyone has tried to bring a chica in there. Thanks for any replies.

My knee-jerk response to a question like yours is to say "send the hotel an email". That's worked for me slightly more often than not. But a recent email sent to a hotel in Cololmbia got no response. And of course a hotel might say "no" when in fact they sometimes bend the rule for the right customer and under the right circumstances.

So. I sent the hotel a simple straightforward question. It took a few days but I did get a response.

It doesn't matter what the law says. If they throw you in jail it will be several months or maybe years before you see a judge. Colombia does not have rule of law. Especially if you are some high extranjero. You want to smoke pot? Plenty of destinations where it is legal and rule of law is respected.

It doesn't matter what the law says. If they throw you in jail it will be several months or maybe years before you see a judge. Colombia does not have rule of law. Especially if you are some high extranjero. You want to smoke pot? Plenty of destinations where it is legal and rule of law is respected.

However Panama allows me to do nearly the same in a safe, controlled, US Dollar, heavy Colombian & Venezuelan Chica environment. First class airport, hotels, casinos and fairly good restaurants. As far as nothing to do, Panama has plenty of opportunities. Fishing, golf, canopy & Jungle tours. Excursions to outer Islands via Trump (Sun Casino) Departure Area. You can get adventurous and travel safe to any city in Panama for about $10 from the Allbrook National Transportation Center. There is plenty to do. Don't believe the hype. It is more than just the Canal.

And of course world class Habanos! Its one stop shop. No need to go anywhere else. Pull in around 9:30 pm and enjoy the unbelievable show. Every night 50-70 beauties from all over Central and South America strut their stuff. You will find your dream girls there for sure. My last trip 2 weeks ago, I met 3 solid tens (Peru, Cali& Caracas) and 1 eight from Santa Marta who I negotiated with to be my translator and join in on threesomes. You may find cheaper areas but for safety, reliability, dollars and Habanos it's a no brainer.

I read all that as *boring* and *expensive* LOL. That's the reason why I prefer Colombia and, after 3 boring visits to Panama for some work reason, I swore "I hope never again here".

All that means a place filled by gringoes in shorts, proud to spend their dollars feeling like at home, with girls speaking English (= long mileage) and with strong negotiation skills.

Go to Panama once & find out first hand. Go to the Panama Canal one day, do the Red Bus tour of the city for a day or 2, go to the seafood market & eat lunch at one of the outdoor restaurants there, stay near Cafe Habanos (which is close to the Veneto) & do your mongering. It is easy to set up day time action with one of the girls you meet at the Veneto of Habanos.

You are correct that PTY is a bit more expensive than CTG as far as girls go & practically no beach activity at all in PTY.

Since you have been to CTG, you can compare the 2 & decide for yourself. At minimum you will have seen the Canal which is quite impressive.

A friend of mine was almost hauled to an Immigration jail because he had a blunt on him. 1 blunt. Got caught at a checkpoint ended up having to pay off the cops and apologize. He said that had he had anything else on him, they'd for sure take him in. Don't chance it, they are cracking down HARD on these things because uncle Sam is sending them funds.
