    Been there done that

By the time you get to Cartagena and check in you will be too tired to go out and check the city out.

You want to do that in the day time.

Stay in Zona Rosa area in Bogota.

    Great safe area to start.

Check My Map, there are many places close by.

    You can walk to these:

    17. Chicas Milenio, Calle 71 # 14 A-20.30 Chicas in Shifts. Prices: 30 k 20 min. , 40 k 30 min. , 60 k hour. Tel: 249 2927,312 5074. Hours: 9 am to 3 am. (#4 on Tung's Chapinero Map).

    18. Chicas 2000 / Las Profesionales, Calle 71 # 14 A-27-33.6 Chicas. Prices: 30 k 20 min. , 40 k 30 min. , 60 k hour. Hours: 9 am to 9 pm. (#1/30 on Tung's Chapinero Map).

Prices might be a little off.

Or, maybe the better questions is. If you had one night in Bogota for mongering. What would you do?

That's not correct. Bogota is the port of entry: after immigration, you need to collect bags (checked in to the final destination) and pass the customs. After that, you leave them to the desk where they will route them to the final destination.

    2. 5 hours is more than enough: the BOG airport is very efficient. Also, both flights are Avianca. Please note that since this year domestic Avianca flights DO NOT leave from Puente Aereo, but from the same international airport where you land.

I'm flying with Avianca from the US and have a change of flights in Bogota. How is transiting in Bogota? Do I have to collect my checked-in luggage and drop off? How bad is the wait in passport control / immigration? My flight arrives in Bogota around 7:15 PM. The time between flights is about 2 and half hours. It's my first experience with airports in Bogota, I've read about arriving early for international flights by as much as 3-4 hours and the lengthy process and security checks. But do not know how transiting through Bogota is and what it entails.

Hotel suggestions. I'm going with the strategy of staying at a regular hotel for my first time and taking a girl to love motels for short time. I thought about going with an apartment, but I'd like to try that next time perhaps. Overall hotel costs in CTG are not bad, and I prefer not having to worry about my belongings so I'll try love motels. What's the most convenient area to stay at? This is just a 3 day trip, during the daytime I might try to check out the action if available. Maybe at the beach. But I like to do the whole touristy thing as well, check out some sights, dining scene, etc. But I would also like to be close to the action and preferably within walking distance of chica bars / clubs or a quick cab ride away.

Any suggestions / advice is greatly appreciated. If you have any other tips as far as daytime action, that would be appreciated as well. Thanks, this forum really makes things a lot easier.

You have to collect your checked-in luggage, because Bogota is your port of entry, go tru customs and Immigration, then you will see a drop off Counter for Avianca, that's a drop off for you luggage, then proceed to your next flight, remember your flight from Bogota to Cartagena is Inland or (National), not International.

    Just my two cents.

    Kukulkan,

    Peace

    Staying in Cetro

I decided I'd stay in Centro, was very close to picking something in Bocagrande but staying in Centro gives me more of an opportunity to experience the city without being in a cab as I prefer to walk around and do some sight seeing.

What are the best options? I've read about the Clock Tower, and there are a few bars in the area correct? Tu Candela etc, and Mister Babilla but I think that is just outside the walls. As for daytime action, are there are good options in Centro or is it all at the beach?

    Beware in Bogota

Just make sure you don't miss your flight to CTG Puntz79 cause last April on my way to Cancun with the novia we missed our flight so we had to go from Bogota to San salvador then finally Cancun.

Our bags stayed overnight in Bogota and when the Copa airlines worker brought us our luggages the day after the novia said she was missing some underwear and stuff I thought she was mistaken.

Or didn't remember what she had brought so after thoroughly checking mine I noticed my RUSH, METALLICA and NWA t-shirts were missing. !

I am still pissed off till this day.

My experience is from a Sunday night in early October 2013, maybe not totally reflective now but I seem to have witnessed what you described.

I met this pair of girls (one English speaker, one none) and they invited me to party to Tu Candela, I got a bottle, then we all went to the short term hotel (love motel as I would call it).

I imagine no single girls not being allowed is due to the place being a fairly small one (as far as I remember, at least the second floor) and no point overcrowding the place with girls not buying single drinks, when instead you could get the rich bottle opening clientèle. Obviously this is just my two cents.

I rather like the idea of the short term hotel. My experience with the chicas in Torre de Reloj suggests that they are not into TLN anyway and are more interesting in churning clients, plus might be expected home at some point in the early morning hours. Not to mention you will not be concerned with things missing in your hotel room.

As far as safety, El Centro has to be one of the safest destinations in all of South America tourist spots IMO. This is not so much to protect devotees of our hobby, but to protect normal tourists and their families. Before 10 pm, this particular plaza is awash with tourists embarking on horse coach rides, evening strolls, etc. But as the other recent post mentioned, I would not want to be in this area after 4 am.

You can survive with minimum Spanish as long as a situation does not demand that you speak more fluently and sometimes that can happen in post or pre negotiations. You could always insist that the price and terms (I. E. Number of times / duration) are typed into your cellphone to ensure no misunderstanding. Sometimes girls will type the price in their phone but just try to retrieve that information from them later. Most police I have encountered do not speak English and the same definitely holds true for the chicas. In LDV, some girls speak English, though this suggests a certain level of professionalism for better or worse.

I am planning on visiting in the next couple weeks for 3 days. Not much time, but honestly. Being in North America, I always feel that any place on this side of the hemisphere, if the sole or primary reason for travel is for mongering than the 3 day plan is usually sufficient. I was concerned about safety in Colombia at first. Just like I was extremely concerned about safety in Buenos Aires, Sosua, Santo Domingo, St. Maarten, Barcelona, Amsterdam, etc. But from everything I have read, it appears Cartagena is extremely safe and as long as you use common sense and do not flash wealth, or get drunk, and put yourself in a situation to be taken advantage of. Then there is not much to worry about. Correct?

My spanish is still basic, although I am able to understand fairly well and I'm getting better at speaking. I've read that Cartagena is probably better for basic spanish speakers than a place like Bogota or Medellin, where the basic level will not suffice. If anyone can confirm or share their experiences if they are basic spanish speakers, that would be much appreciated!

It sounds like you have enough Spanish to monger in the other cities in Colombia. Even if you use 2-3 word sentences to communicate ideas, this should be enough. It sounds like you are at this level or above. Tell the girls to speak slowly and stop after every 10 words if needed. Also, tell them to use basic Spanish words when speaking with you.

Colombian women are some of the most attention deficit in the world. Colombia is a YMMV mongering destination in a big way. Intelligence is rewarded and stupidity is penalized. You have to assert yourself and "push" these girls to respect the things that are important to you. If you can do this successfully, you will love mongering in Colombia. If you can't, you will experience the selfishness of Colombian woman and will wish you were just about anywhere else. Colombia is just this simple IMHO.

Nice report and I can agree on virtually everything you said. I think, however, that I paid more for the short term hotel at Sol why Mar than you so perhaps it depends on how busy they are or how hot your girl is. LOL.

Much has been written about the infamous Tony on this board but you just updated for everyone that nothing has changed with that guy. I never like to go to Playa Hollywood for the reasons you mentioned and never had the misfortune to meet him since I avoid the place. It is hot, dirty, and generally crowded. Plus, I only saw skanky girls when I went.

One part of El Centro I enjoy is strolling the streets during the day. Many beautiful woman who are not on the make, lots of energy, and an overall good vibe.

It's true about Tu Candela and also Havana Club that they are quite discriminating about what girls are allowed in. On my last visit, I did meet two chicas of middling quality in the Havana Club. They wanted $600 k for the two of them but were trying to be quite discrete about it. Both from the coffee axis region. I passed but pretty sure they get business out of there.

    Hobby action (pro).

There are many places to find women.

    Playa Hollywood.

Some girls go there when they got nothing to do or when they do not have hungover from the day before. Every day is different. One day you can find more girls (10 approx) and another day there are less (2 to none). It depends on luck, I guess. I noticed that there are many families on both Saturdays and Sundays, which makes it difficult to find women. I went there on a Wednesday and saw many available girls. How to identify available women? Easy, women alone or in groups. If you see a nice woman with a gringo, chances are she is busy. Another way to find women is to ask a guy named Tony to bring them to you. He knows all women at the beach. As soon as he sees a working girl at the beach, she is on his radar. I will talk about this guy Tony later. Quality of women varies. I never found a 10. However, I saw a couple of doable (7-8). Prices at the beach varies. Average is 100,000 pesos = 50 USD approx.

How is the game at the beach? Well, you can sit down, pay for chairs and umbrella and ask Tony to bring women to you. You can also just walk and talk to the girls that you see available, with no Tony involved (cheaper and I did this). You can also bring your drinks in a case / cooler (I tried but it was a nuisance to find a cooler). You can also ask Tony to bring drinks to you (I do not recommend this). You can also just walk without drinks, talk to girls and take them to another place for drinks (I did this).

Tony. This is one of the sons of the devil. He is a dark overweight Colombian. He is extremely extrovert. He is kind of the leader in the only kiosk / bar in the section of the beach where women hang around. As soon as you walk, he will see you and come to you. He sees everything on the beach. He speaks English. He uses lots of bad words. He is dirty. Never shake his hand or wash your hand immediately if you do it. I saw him sneeze in his hand, spit on his hand, etc. It is a gross guy. He will try to get as much money as he can from you. Anything that he does, he will charge you for it. If he brings you a drink, he will add a lot on top of the normal price (almost triple or more). He will drink beers and make you pay for them. Be careful with this guy. I was well informed before dealing with him and kind of knew how to deal with him. I sat down at the kiosk / bar at the beach and analysed this son of the devil. If you go for a session with a girl he introduces to you, he will get a commission (I think 20,000 pesos = 10 USD approx. , not really sure). Would I use Tony? Maybe just to introduce girls to me if I do not see any available. If a nice girl is at the beach even with someone, he will get there and bring her to you. One day I walked on the beach and did not see girls, asked Tony and I do not know where he brought like 6 sitting on the beach which I had not seen. He knows exactly where is everyone sitting.

Additional comments. I saw police presence at the beach and never saw a robbery. The beach is not nice. Not nice water, not nice sand. It is very hot. I found that the best time to hit the beach is 4-6 pm since there is less heat. However, women might be busy at that time. It depends on the luck. Another comment: Playa Hollywood is comprised of two sections: 1 for pro-girls and 1 for gays. Ensure you get a chair in the section which best suits your taste.

    La Dolce Vita (LDV).

It is a bar with beautiful working freelancers girls. Quantity is about 20-30 girls. Quality is from 7 to 10. I saw like three 10's. Usually, there are more women than men. Best time to hit this place is 11-12:30. After 1 AM it starts to slow down. At 12 it is at its peak. I met 3 girls at this place. Saw more than 5 that I would do. Prices vary, it usually starts at 300,000 pesos = 150 USD. Prices of the drinks are similar to north America. E. g. , beer 7,000 pesos, rum and coke 7,500 pesos, shot of fine aguardiente 12,000 pesos.

    Torre del Reloj (clock tower).

This is an open area, like a mini square. There are benches. There are lots of girls. Quality is usually not good, although you can find a hidden gem, if you are patient. Re: quality, I saw many 4-7 and a couple of 9's. Prices are cheap here (100,000 pesos = 50 USD). There are also lots of bums and bad Colombians males. There is also kind of strong police presence. Safety seems to be under control before 4 AM. After 4 AM it can get dangerous since the police leaves. Girls are even scared to be there after 4 am.

    Tu Candela.

Rumor has it that there are freelancers in this place. It is a bar / club with the best atmosphere, in my opinion. I went to 3 other places (Mr. Babillia, Fragma, etc.) and Tu Candela had the best atmosphere. However, there are more men than women. I saw mixed groups and only a few women (4?) in groups of 2. I met a woman outside Tu Candela and told me that there are freelancers in this club but most times men meet them there and immediately start the party with them. Likewise, men meet women at another place and invite them to party to Candela. I never got lucky here because all women were busy with men. Note: no single women are allowed in this place (there are exceptions of course) and many of the girls outside in the clock tower are not allowed to get in. It seems that the owner has a strong policy. He allows only good quality freelancers (this is what a girl I took told me). BTW, I did not pay cover charge to get in (2 nights) and women have to pay like 20,000 pesos = 10 USD. Weird, huh?

    Additional places to find women.

Some colleagues mentioned in this forum that sometimes you can find women walking by the main street San Martin in the Bocagrande area or in the Laguito area. I walked in San Martin from 6 to 8 pm and really enjoyed the walk. Lots of regular people, coffee shops, restaurants, buses for tourist, etc. I saw beautiful girls (Non Pro) in a very nice Colombian coffee shop named Juan Valdez. But I did not see PRO girls in San Martin, maybe I was not lucky. However, I walked on the main street during the day in the Laguito area and yes I saw working girls and even talked to some of them and got some numbers. Next time, I would walk, find a small bar / restaurant by the street, sit down, grab a beer and watch women walking by. BTW, a working girl told me that some women go to a place named Cafe Napoleon after the beach to find gringos; however, I could not find it.

    Women in general.

Are Colombian women beautiful? Yes, but obviously not all women. Are they the most beautiful? I am not sure. I have seen beautiful girls in north America as well. I have been to Cuba, Costa Rica, Brazil and now Colombia. I have seen beautiful girls in all those places. I like curvy. I think maybe Cubans, Jamaicans, Caribbeans and north American tend to be more curvy, Brazilians in second. Do Colombian women provide good service? Well, I got nice service, not the best but nice service. Maybe Brazilian and some north American women have provided me the best service. But north American women are expensiveBTW, I find incredible that pro girls are very cheap in Latin / South America compared to north America (100 USD in South America to 500 USD in north America for a 9-10 girl). Anyways, I will post in different forum my comparison of hobbying in all those places.

Note: my Colombian girlfriend told me that both Colombian and Venezuelan women are very horny. They love sex. They talk about sex. They cheat on their husbands / boyfriends. She even told me that her neighbour (married regular family female) lets another neighbour fuck her while for some $ while his husband is working. Anyways, funny stories she told me. Conclusion: those women are horny, which I like very much)).

    Hotels.

I stayed at Dann. It was ok. Service was good. It is the only hotel with direct access to Playa Hollywood and free chairs and umbrellas. However, the hotel is not chica friendly at all. They are very strict and I understand. It is a family oriented hotel. I saw many families with little kids. What I did for hobby was I used a short term hotel named Sol why Mar just a few steps from Tu Candela and the clock tower. I paid 30,000 pesos = 15 USD for 1 hour which was enough. Do not expect a nice hotel, though. Just the necessary. There are more short term hotels. Just ask the girl or the taxi driver. They all know them. Next time, I might use an apartment if I want to spend more time with a pro and have a GFE. But if you just want short term, a short term hotel will do.

    Restaurants.

You can find very nice restaurants. I went to a French named Restaurante 1621 and it is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. You can use trip advisor to find good ones. There are also low profile restaurants. I also mentioned a very nice Colombian Coffee shop named Juan Valdez where you can see regular people. I saw beautiful girls here. BTW, before you leave your country ensure you get vaccinations. I got stomach flu down there. I do not know what I ate or if it was the ice in my rums.

    Cartagena, the city.

I liked downtown Cartagena very much. I like the architecture. It is very small though. I think in 2 hrs you can walk and know everything. I liked the atmosphere. It was nice to see regular people walking on the streets. I liked the live music on the streets as well. If you meet a nice girl, it is a nice idea to bring her down there for an evening. I also felt safe except when I went out of a short term hotel at 5 am.

    Safety.

I was really afraid of going to Colombia for a number of reasons. However, I felt very safe in Cartagena. Lots of police presence, maybe that's why. Kudos to the mayor of Cartagena and the Colombian government for this. It is hard to balance prostitution and safety. Well, this place does it. I hope our first world leaders learn the positive aspects of this hobby model. It is the place in my list for hobby where I have felt the safest.

Would I repeat? Mmmmmmmm. Not in the short run.
