I'm planning to visit Cartagena soon with my friends for the first time. Looking to get some insight into the rates we should be considering normal. Would it be better to pay in pesos or dollars? What is considered a normal rate for girls (hour and night) from one of the clubs (like dolce). What about if we call from tinder etc? Or what about off the street? I'm looking to get an idea of how much money to bring.

This is what I always do and it works for me. Rent a nice house in old city so you can come and go as you please. Explore during the day everything is in walking distance in old city. Go out to nice restaurant enjoy a nice dinner with your friends and few drinks. Hit up clock tower around 10 and see the traffic if it's not what you like. Walk over to Dolce and Space they are right next to each other. It will be full of girls which you can see and start conversation and go from there. I use my translator make sure to download the offline version service in Dolce sucks. Or have one of the waiters put in the WIFI password for you. Find one you like after you can walk to your house if it's close or get in a cab maybe 5-10 pesos at most. Most I've ever paid for a girl is $100 USD no condom on oral for 1-2 hrs. Girls on the street specially Venezuelan ones you can expect 200-250 pesos at most for 1-2 hrs. I don't like the spend night with anyone I don't personally know meaning spent more than few dates with her. Also I've walked in old city in all hours of the night no issues with anyone. Enjoy your time I'll be there in 1st week of July my self.

I could not agree more. As someone who first came to Cartagena around 2007 and has visited several times since, I feel the sense has deteriorated esp if you are older. I notice the scene appears to have shifted to the bars and clubs rather than the clocktower area. There is also a profusions of Vennies, something I never saw or noticed several years ago. My limited experience with them suggest no GFE to be had. They are there to make as much money as possible in the shortest period of time. Many of them have hidden boyfriends, sometimes quite nearby so caution is recommended.

However, I will prob return in late October as I did last fall since I enjoy the overall atmosphere and have a very good living situation while I am there (as in free). The food, culture, and the relaxed ambience and beauty of the city makes up the for the rather weak mongering structure. I am speaking, of course, as a senior who can certainly do better with the ladies in Southeast Asia though the distance to travel there can be daunting. So I just grin and bear it with the idea that even a blind pig finds an acorn every once in a while.

There are a mix of young and 30 s and 40 s as well. They are try to look young. I did not see too many hanging around around clock tower waiting for customers. Maybe it has something to do with the police crackdown. There are some who are walking the street and need to get their attention and talk to them. Otherwise most connections are made in the bars, dance places. There are plenty of young male tourists who gets the first crack at beautiful girls. They dance, drink etc like young people do. For older people like me it is hard to monger in that atmosphere.

Other way to get girls are from social sites or connections. Definitely not getting GFE. Mongering cost is high and the service is questionable. Like anything else if you are a frequent visitor and get to know the girls good fun can be had because of the friendship. But for strictly mongering purpose IMHO Cartagena is not the place. Better other places in Colombia or Costa Rica or Dominican Republic.

What is normal going rates for an hour and for the night in your experience? I don't want to overpay as I'm not familiar with the rates here. I know it depends on the girl and all, but I don't want to go in blind. If you can state normal rates in pesos and dollars, it would be great!

To echo what at The Critic said. Read back the reports over the last few pages. The only problem is that when trying to read this site on a phone mobile browser than it has allot of quotes it messes it up so if your accessing by mobile and your phone browser has a option to enable Desktop version, its a life saver for this page.

To sum it up.

As a new face your rates won't be the same as a vets rate.

Don't talk in dollars only pesos.

Don't negotiate for time, only for the nut.

Venezuelans will be cheaper than Colombians.

Older Colombian women will want more than younger ones. (the ones I get on Tinder 18 - 22 still lives at home and are not dependent on working the street to support themselves, they mostly want money for hair, makeup, and nails. Especially makeup and nails).

Make sure your housing arrangement allows visitors and make sure your visitor have their Cedula or Passport.

Get you chicas in the day time and try them out for a lesser rate, when nighttime comes if your a new face that rate increases. But if its the same girl you already met in the day and things went well she ill be more than willing to see you again at the same price or go out with you to dinner / dance / drink for free and will only mention money if sex is involved.

These girls are always late. If you want them to show up at 8 tell them to be there at 7.

Always ask how far do they live from where your staying, then whatever time they tell you, multiple it by 3 (I'm not joking, I wish I was, but I'm not). When they say 15 minutes in reality its an hour.

Make sure they give you their live location on Whatsapp when they are in the taxi coming to you because although they say they live in Cartagena, Cartagena is huge and many of them have to commute over an hour to get to Centro, if its raining double that time expectancy. (live location cuts 90% of their bullshit excuses on why their late as you can see if they were siting at one place too long and remind them of the importance of time).

Depending on how much you negotiated, if you didn't negotiated the cab fare into it be prepared to pay their cab fare when they arrive or when they leave or both. 20.000 COP max.

Airbnb's with no hot water common??

Not everyone get the same rate. Some of us whos been going there for a while are known and the girls will treat as regular but when its a new face its instant high prices, haggling, or not getting what you want. Been in that situation multiple times and it just becomes frustrating as I don't want to haggle the first half of my trip to find someone to enjoy the remaining half. I stick with who I've known over the years and it works for me. New girls come in all the time but once they check my Instagram and see I'm friends with their working friends, its all cool, I'm not worried about them stealing from me and they not worried I'm going to fuck them over. It sucks we have to run checks on each other through mutual friends but with gringos doing stupid things like refusing to pay agreed amount after services and chicas drugging and robbing, both sides have to be careful.

Airbnb in a with hot water can be a coin toss when staying in a house Centro or Getsemani. If the listing does not say it then high chance they do not have it. But not having hot water isn't a deal breaker as the cold water there is room temp and the room temp there is hot and humid. I've been that gringo who used room temp water for days and didn't even know there was hot water jajaja. In apartment buildings they will most likely have hot water but I like the private houses better, no security BS and I can have unlimited visitors or go over the capacity allowed without anyone saying anything.

I ended up moving mine back a month due to the flight cost was twice as much as it normally is. Even my usual Airbnb's increased, one that is usually $350 for 3 bedroom 3 bathroom with rooftop jacuzzi is now $550 a night and they don't even have hot water SMH.

My chicas are also telling me crime is also increasing so they are mostly going for TLN where they don't have to leave late at night.

To your one question always pay using Colombian Peso (COP) and make sure when your discussing pricing that the Chica knows your talking COP. When the price is agreed, I use the notes section of my phone and enter the amount with COP next to it and show it to the Chica so there is no illusion that they are getting anything but COP. (example $200,000. 00 COP) and make sure they agree / confirm what they see on the phone. If not some will swear you were talking USD.

It can be difficult to know whose a working girl and whose not and this is where a little Spanish comes in handy. A quick "hola, como estas" to lure them in and see if they are willing to engage, then follow up with "estas trabajando". From there negotiations can happen, or go for a simple "I'm going to check out this new place for the first time, join me". The chicas in my circle look like regular girls 18 - 25, and I always have to remind them to cover up and not to attract attention due to they will show up in outfits that will turn heads. Some outfits I don't even want to take them into a resturaunt and just order in with Rapi. Fun girls non the less.

The tricky thing with meeting new chicas is trust, and normally, try them during the day then if they are cool they can come back to stay the night.

Ermita and OZ Hotel are two that allow guests. Oz Hotel is more expensive and always booked though because some travelers want luxury accommodations and it comes at tourist prices.

When the gringo is a new face the chicas will try to over charge by saying ridiculous high prices in dollars and will try charge by the hour. I normally counter by the polvo in pesos ad the price get cuts in half. I have a few that do GFE but they have to be attracted to the gringo to do it, and they have to trust the gringo to no cum inside, or they will have the IUD and charge extra to do it, but lie and say the extra money is to buy the pill.

Looks like your enjoying your first trip. I would suggest doing the segway history tour. Lots of history in Cartegena. Or if you're a food person grab a chica and check out Getsemeni at night.

Theres a video on youtube of someone throwing money in the air at the Clock Tower, so that's a place you may want to avoid at night. Its cool to pass through but not hang around as these "ballers" like to put on a show to impress strangers.

I guess I am looking for non geisha girls. Found one walking alone near the clock tower average looks but friendly. Good enough to do touristy things. This is the only Marriott hotel for me to get points. I tried Sheraton Boca Grande but it was much more expensive. This hotel is pretty good. Can walk to El Centro to get some exercise. I found nice massage places. Extras were not enquired or not offered.

Yes, girls are pushy and ask high prices. However this is not Philippines, Thailand or China. Cannot find GFE here unless I guess you live here. Most girls enhanced and use heavy make up. For my first trip here I am taking in tourist sights. For a historic town it has some charm. As I am not much of a beach person this trip is good so far. Anyway off my bucket list.

I have plenty of experiences being with Colombians in Costa Rica and Panama. Those were totally GFE. Maybe other places other than Cartagena can find those in Colombia.

Spot on observation. It is very difficult to get GFE there. Many of the girls are not from Cartagena and are only here to work. You’d need to be on the ground a while to find a cartagenera that isn't gringo hunting, but they are absolute angels when you do. Almost married one.
