LDV used to be located in Laguito. A lot of gringos bought condos in Laguito with ocean views. Now that LDV has moved to the old town and the girls all go to the Clock Tower, it seems that Laguito is not as desirable any more to monger.
I stay in Laguito probably as much out of habit as anything, and there are chica friendly buildings there which is a major plus. I like the apartments there that look out over the ocean, it's not as good as the view of the beach in Bocagrande, but its still an ocean view, and you can bang a chica on your balcony while enjoying the ocean view. I do miss LDV being there but Playa Hollywood has chicas during the day and it is at the end of Laguito. Once in a while you can find SWs in Laguito for 100 k. As YippieKayay stated about Bocagrande, Laguito is also much quieter, and the other tourist areas are a short taxi ride away. There is never a lack of taxis in Laguito as demonstrated by the photo I am adding to this post.

I always stay in Bocagrande. It's very peaceful at night and the old city is only a few minutes by cab. That whole tourist area is tiny. There's no need to pick any place other than where you want to sleep and wake up every morning. I'll take the beach over the old city because its quieter.
the reason that El Laguito and Bocogrande are more often recommended because there are more restaurants in those areas and the beach is close by so ease of access to for other things than chicas?

Thanks for the info. I looked at some airbnb around the clock tower area for convenience of street girls, are Old City Balcones a decent selection? I want to be centrally located for ease of bringing girls in and out.
I'm not familiar with that place but it's a common concern about location and I don't think people understand how close things are in Cartagena, it's all good for bringing girls in and out.
I have a question. I see many people recommend El Laguito and Bocagrande as the locations to find accommodations. Then there are some who say they stay in Old Town somewhat close to the Tower.
If the action is mainly at the tower and LDV then shouldn't that area be where we should be staying at? Or is the reason that El Laguito and Bocogrande are more often recommended because there are more restaurants in those areas and the beach is close by so ease of access to for other things than chicas?
Apologize if its a stupid question.
Either is fine. It's all a 5-10 min cab ride anyways and the cabs are super cheap. So it just depends on whether you'd rather wake up by the beach and go to the old city at night and take a cab with the girl or take a cab in the morning to the beach and back before picking up a girl. Really doesn't matter.

Contemplating making my first trip to Cartagena in March.
My mongering experience so far has been a handful of Sosua trips and one to Costa Rica. I'm a decent looking early 40's white American with minimal Spanish speaking skills, but I had a great time in both DR and CR and didn't have any issues.
From what I've gathered reading through the first couple pages here, March seems like a good time to go, and the average is 150-200 k COP / HR which seems comparable to DR so that's cool.
Is the vibe more street girls or club / bar or both? I'm good with either.
Any recommendations on chica friendly hotels or rentals and just general intel would be appreciated.
I will be visiting Cartagena for the first time as well in March. We should grab a beers if you're up for it!
I've been studying this thread a bit and seems like the main club action is at a place called LVE. Other than that, the rest of it seems to be at the clock tower. Some refer to using Tinder and Facebook as well (I used this in Medellin and it worked very well) so that's an option as well.
It's both, street girls by the clock tower and club scene. I personally am not interested in Isis or Pley club and would rather party at La Dolce Vita or Space. If you're on airbnb just message your host and if you're doing a hotel, just book for 2 people.

If I get the burner phone and recharge will I also get a new number? I don't want to be using my number from the states if possible. Thanks for the help.
My opinion is don't buy the burner, just download google voice and use that number to setup whatsapp.

You are not saying in your post so I must ask. Are you planning to buy this phone in Colombia or before you leave. Unless you are fluent in spanish, I suggest you buy one before you leave. Yes they may be able to set it up for you in English but with some hassle, and also electronics are more expensive in Colombia. If you just need a phone to do the basics, communicate, navigate, translate, etc. Then I suggest buying an unlocked multiband phone off of Amazon or some place and then you will just need to buy a SIM when you arrive in Colombia. I say buy a multiband because then you have the most flexibility on carriers when you arrive. The GSM 850 and GSM 1900 bands are used in Colombia for cell phones. They will need to see your passport also. Depending on how far out your trip is, your cheapest option is probably ordering a phone off amazon, there are unlocked phones on there for less than $100.
Here is an article by an expat living in Colombia about cell phones, scroll down to "Using Cell Phones from Other Countries".
