They're not spoiling they're being extorted because the women want more money to go with them --I've been told by numerous women this is the case. So yes they are both raising the prices for us and also making the girls more difficult to deal with because they are hardened by having to work for these guys.

You are aware these girls are more than likely lying to you to make you feel special. As an AA I can undoubtedly tell you the girls love us and indeed might favor the brothers over the classic geriatric gringo that seems to dominate this thread. Believe it or not young girls love to party, listen to loud music and show off. I know right its a shocker LOL. Remember most of the costenas are afro colombians part of the diaspora. Our cultures arent much different. Also they tell us the same things "I don't like old men and I charge them more etc" Prices have raised but that's the reality of life. Cartagena has exploded in overall tourism and popularity. Simply adapt or move on to a cheaper place.

I would definitely recommend Barranquilla if you guys are just looking for women. Not much to do during the day, but the prices are far lower, and the quality is about the same. Not as tourist friendly and a bit more dangerous, but nothing crazy.

A while back when I said gringos were monopolizing chicas time by flying them out the country for weeks at a time I remember being called a conspiracy theorist (general form section). Even though I saw multiple chicas status in Croatia, Italy, and Paris, along with the usual Cancun, Tulum, Dominican Republic, Panama and Ecuador.

When I said that I saw big paying gringos sending chicas lots of money in advance to secure their availability or paying allot to make sure she's there for them, I remember being called a liar.

Allot of the chicas I see when I go to Cartagena have gringo boyfriends that send them $500 to $1000 a month for them to not sell themselves in the clubs and street but yet they still take on selective customers.

I very rarely dabble in the paid scene since I lived there, but the girls I've been seeing aren't even working ladies under any circumstances. They are actual university girls hoping to get a crappy 1. 2 M COP a month job when they graduate, OR strike it big and get a European or American boyfriend to take them out.

I need to remind you all again. The vast majority of women who engage in the trade are not from Cartagena. They would be shamed and ostracized from their family if it was known that they were in this line of work. Colombians, and especially costeños, are culturally conservative, and they have huge families. All of which will tattle on them if something goes wrong.

The girls you see at Torre De Reloj are from Venezuela, Medellin, Cali, or maybe Barranquilla. They come because they can charge higher prices. The problem is that living in Cartagena is very expensive, so they don't tend to stay there. It just costs to much and they need to get a lot more big ticket clients to make it worth it. It's why girls will only do a few weeks at a budget hotel and then go to Barranquilla.

I have heard this as well. I'm not sure what the issue is, but if the girls are being honest, then there's something that turns them off. I will say that I do have a handful of black expat friends I go out with and they have no issues. I think it's just when there are bigger groups of guys. But this is just my armchair sociology. To be honest, I'm sure a big group of fratty white dudes would be horribly unpleasant as well.

Elvis. I'm guessing you're no spring chicken. I am not either as someone in his mid 40's. I think he's referring to economic and monger cycles. Look at currency exchange and the economy. I've been mongering off and on since 2003 or so. Back then it was Argentina and Thailand (both had economy issues). Then Brazil. A little later Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic followed by Colombia. For next I'd look at exchange and value for $$. I thnk Brazil and Argentina may make an appearance again and we'll probably see Venezuela as a destination in 5-6 years if they get a stable government.

The "cycle" I was mentioning was the ones who are defending the bad behavior or staying silent about it is unknowingly encouraging it, then years later they will be the same ones to turn around and say how how things are ruined or bad because of what certain people were doing.

The pandemic brought along the YouTubers, and the YouTubers brought along more of the crowd who wanted to "represent". So more people who just want to chill are getting away from certain areas that were too heavily advertised to attract that crowd.

On my current trip I did mostly Barranquilla and Santa Marta before returning to Cartagena. Next time I'm going further out.

I think the market has been saturated for a long time, but now it is becoming more obvious now. The one thing everybody has to realize is all destinations are getting more difficult and expensive. Hard work, some game, and a decent budget are required now.

Elvis is correct to look at the smaller cities in Latin America and Europe, this is where you can find some hot chicks, but that takes time and money. The easy days are over, but there is still plenty of hot chicks and some diamonds in the rough.

I basically was just saying, "Hey, you took time off work (or whatever); you traveled to another country. Take some time to talk to people, learn about their culture and just show some respect. It doesn't matter what you said, someone out there will always find a reason to take it as offensive.

You know what's the irony about a topic like this is? Similar thing happened to Sosua years ago and when brothers who wanted to chill started speaking up about the behavior of others, the ones who like to "represent" came out of nowhere and played the race card and started accusing the chilling brothers who was calling out the nonsense of being against "their people" traveling. The "represent" crowd had no idea that ones who were calling out the nonsense that was happening was part of the same ethic group as them. It was so stupid but funny at the same time because that's always the default defense when they get all high on emotion and start opening their mouths. So lots of "chilling" brothers left Sosua to the other brothers who always want to "represent".

Now, we come to today and the same ones who always want to "represent" that caused allot of "chilling" brothers to leave, are now complaining about the new wave of post pandemic tourists coming in and doing the same type of behavior and worse that the "represent" crowd were defending years ago. So now they spread out and are over in Cartagena displaying the same behavior that they were mad about the post pandemic tourists were doing in Sosua.

One Cartagena example I can give is I remember when I was in Dolce in 2019 and they had signs up about no recording. If I took my phone out, chicas would hide their face and tell me "no grabar" even the security would tell me I can't do that in there. Right after the pandemic lifted and went back to the same Dolce, just about everyone was in there recording and uploading to social media, even the chicas.

Is there any leeway for a male that may be a drug dealer who is doing it to feed their family? I think that is one of the great lies that mongers tell themselves.
