Back on topic, I've seen a bunch of ladies (working and non-working) acquiring European boyfriends. Even a few of the muchachas I know from Universidad Cartagena are off in Italy or Spain for the summer. If I lived there, it would probably be cheaper to just import these girls for a short stay. I might do that in Mexico around Thanksgiving.

A while back when I said gringos were monopolizing chicas time by flying them out the country for weeks at a time I remember being called a conspiracy theorist (general form section). Even though I saw multiple chicas status in Croatia, Italy, and Paris, along with the usual Cancun, Tulum, Dominican Republic, Panama and Ecuador.

When I said that I saw big paying gringos sending chicas lots of money in advance to secure their availability or paying allot to make sure she's there for them, I remember being called a liar.

Allot of the chicas I see when I go to Cartagena have gringo boyfriends that send them $500 to $1000 a month for them to not sell themselves in the clubs and street but yet they still take on selective customers.

Wait a minute. I thought it was the Sosua guys that have come in and jacked all the prices up and paying in dollars and shit the same as Sosua. Now you are telling us it is actually those guys who are trying to obtain more reasonable prices from the girls and this is a bad thing how? To benefit their cheap holidays? Aren't they they ones known to be weekend millionaires and literally throwing money around? Actually giving away money for nothing? Party crowd? Now of course you can not switch over to this side of the argument because it will only leave one reason as to why you are pointing at them. If Colombian women are not interested in Black guys I must have been going to the wrong Colombia for the last 20 years. And I probably mess with 95% non-hookers and only 5% hookers there. It makes no sense trying to simplify the situation. If Colombian women are not interested in Africa gringos then how come the Africa gringos can be accused of spoiling them? My thinking is that as long as you have money the chicas will be interested. Chicas go after money and gringos represent dollars. The people who are really affected by an influx of gringos are Colombian men. Consider how they feel. These are the people Colombian women are not really interested in in the gringo infested areas.

They're not spoiling they're being extorted because the women want more money to go with them --I've been told by numerous women this is the case. So yes they are both raising the prices for us and also making the girls more difficult to deal with because they are hardened by having to work for these guys.

It definitely a jealousy thing on this board. They have a dislike for younger guys with expendable incomes because apparently we drove the market up and their retirement / pensions etc can't keep up. The demographics of this board favors guys 60+. Then you have the ones who dislike the "hiphop" crowd and it just stems from jealousy.

Mid 30's with plenty of disposable income and enough time to spend a month at a time out of the US a few times a year. I can definitely check the box of those "who dislike the hip hop crowd" but its not at all jealousy, its more of an annoyance as they still operate as they are still in high school and have to constantly seek approval of their peers so its constantly "loudspeaker mode" to get attention. For me, I don't think it makes for anyone to hop on a plane to go somewhere just to be annoyed.

I believe this trip will be the final nail in the coffin for me in Cartagena as things hit a new level. My chica was equally annoyed as I was when we returned to Cartagena from Santa Martha and Barranquilla.

Ill now be going more places that are not heavily advertised by the usual Youtubers that attract a certain crowd.

She planned on six days and (because of this site) I realized it would be a good spot to spend a few extra days alone. So, I booked eleven days and she booked six. Once she arrived, I still had alone time (we stayed in different locations), but we spent most of the time doing touristy things together. Next year, she's hoping to do Brazil. If we do it (I have concerns about safety. Hers not mine), then I will probably do the same thing. Arrive earlier or stay later.

I recall my first trips to MDE back in 2013 2014, the hoes would talk about going to work in CTG to get paid in US dollars. That was jumping off point to Panama and Costa Rica. Remember that there is a lot more than Colombia than CTG, MDE, and BOG. You speak Spanish, you will have a great time in other cities. Note that "Money is the world's greatest aphrodisiac" - ISG. Last week, I got back home after spending 11 days in Cartagena. It was probably my worst in experience in 25+ years of traveling to Latin America. This was extremely disappointing for me because I love hot weather, Colombian women are beautiful, I dance Salsa (and Merengue and Bachata) well and I speak Spanish well enough that that most people understand me and I can understand them.

One of the things I love about traveling in Latin America is that in most locations, I can meet someone during the day, maybe have them tag along while I do some sight seeing or when I stop to have some drinks. If we get along, we will meet up later in the evening and go dancing or have dinner or whatever. I generally will give them money for their time and everyone is happy.

Something went terribly wrong in Cartagena. All I encountered were women that had zero interest in interacting with me except to find out where my hotel / AirBnb was at and wanting to know when we could leave to go there. Seriously, I have never, ever seen women so completely uninterested in anything about me since I've been traveling to Latin America. Hell, I can honestly say of the 6-7 women that I was with, maybe two actually even asked me my name. All of them simply called me "Bebe" (I fucking hate that). Towards the end of my trip (the last three days), I finally decided I was done with El Centro and started hanging out in the Gethesmane area and then started meeting normal women that actually had in interest in speaking to me, hanging out, dancing but they all seemed middle to upper class and while I had a great time meeting and hanging out out with them, I was VERY uncomfortable offering them money for sex and none hinted that they were open to it.

So, what happened to Cartagena and why is it so different? I think the issues were was caused by the men. I booked a guest friendly AirBnb in the El Cabrero neighborhood Francechy's Apartments ($57/ night) about 1. 5 km from the clock tower and walked there and back on a regular basis (according to my phone, I walked 6. 5 miles per day). My first day there, it was in the mid 90's with a nice breeze blowing so the heat wasn't that bad. I walked to the Clock Tower got a seat at Donde Fidel's and had a drink and watched people. I expected that a few nice women would come by and ask if they can have a drink with me. Nope. What I did see were several creepy looking, old white men (I'm black. But don't worry, their criticism is coming), standing around with their hands on their hips assessing the women (tourists or not) like a meat buyer in a butcher shop. If nothing was to their liking they would walk back to the other side of the arch and do the same thing. If they saw someone they liked, they would immediately walk up to them and start talking to them. More than a few times, the women they were approaching were obvious tourists and a few minutes later they would walk away stand there with their hands on their hips assessing who else they could approach. I just literally wanted to scream, "That isn't how you do it!

As the evening went on, more women showed up to do absolutely nothing but stand there and wait for men to approach them. There was no other type of interaction such as flirting or anything with men unless they were immediately leaving with them. I did approach several women and it was all the same thing. "Where are you staying?" "What are you doing tonight?" "Let's go to your place" "Okay, here is my number call me when you leave" (I never called any of them). I think the men here caused this. If your only interest in them is screwing them, giving them money and having them go away, why would they waste their time showing interest in you otherwise.

I'm going to spare you all of the non-sex related stuff I did and move on to the women, there were several things I liked about the city, but no one here cares.

On Friday, I think the US emptied their ghettoes onto Spirit Airlines and they all flew to Cartagena. Seriously, I grew up in Oakland and was dirt poor, I now own a business and know lots of lots of middle class black men, these people definitely weren't it. At one point, I was hanging out with my daughter at one of the night clubs (she showed up later on during my trip) and she grabbed me and said, "we need to leave now" she was worried that with the anger, aggression, American rap music playing along with the massive crowd of people in the bar that a shooting would break out at any moment. I was so proud of her, because if I were at home, I would have thought the exact same thing. Seriously, you go to another country and get into a fight with someone because they stepped on your new shoes? You need to stay home and do that shit there. At any point, I realized that the night clubs cater to the tourists and that no one local (except hookers) would go there. At one point, I went into Dolce Vita and couldn't move because it was simply packed with women. I realized as they kicked some women off a table and allowed me to sit down that not one woman there had a drink in her hands. Not one. It was actually worse than that. It was like 50-60 women all standing there with resting be**ch face looking bored unless someone looked at them. Then they would suddenly smile and try to look sexy.

I've have much more to type, but need to leave. But in the end.

1 mediocre massages (at a spa) with a happy ending.

1 fantastic massage (at a spa) no happy ending.

Average price (not including massages) paid $250 K pesos. The sex with all of the women were as I expected. They were all beyond beautiful; all completely terrible in bed (only two made any real effort). All promised the world when as they tried to get your business, but pretty much only did missionary, doggy and cowgirl, did get a horrible BJ from one before I simply had to stop her (though I should have let her go, she defiintely needed the practice). At any time, first time a trip for me was a complete bust. I probably won't be going back, but if I do, I will be avoiding El Centro.

I should also mention that I took Uber everywhere. Cab drivers there are thieves. I haven't met one person there that would saying anything positive about the cab drivers. For me, I was with my daughter and we were leaving El Centro and going to her hotel (yes, I book a different place than my daughter). She is was 1 K (. 6 miles) from downtown. We asked the cab driver how much and he says, "20" (in Spanish). $20 K pesos was a little high (Uber was generally $9 K pesos). So we get in, I hand him $20 K pesos and he says, "This isn't right, I want $20 US each. " I told him "come mierda" and got out of the cab. This is typical behavior for cab drivers there. I won't even look at them. They can all starve.

Michael, I read your report on Cartagena a few comments down from here and could not agree more. I began visiting Cartagena around 2009 and enjoyed my initial trips the city, vibe, food, and the culture were unique. Though the woman were there for the money, most made an effort to earn their keep so to speak. But over the years, things have generally deteriorated. Even though I have a free place to stay at a high end hotel due to a time share arrangement, I have decided to go elsewhere on my holidays. Last October was the final straw when I found myself in the relatively early evening hours surrounded by several women who were attempting to accost and then rob me on one of the main streets leading from the ClockTower. Only when I retaliated by striking one of the woman in the stomach was I able to extricate myself from this situation.

After walking another block and speaking to a nonchalant policeman about this incident, did I realize that the police here had no interest in intervening and, indeed, they are probably on the take too. The girls who come there are not local ones as in the past but the vast majority are from Venezuela, Medellin or Bogata and many have a chip in their shoulder. And like you said, most of their performance in the room are insipid, hurried, and lacking even a slight hint of eroticism.

With some of the knock out drugs being past around and readily available, you could lose more than just your wallet or IPhone. I doubt if I will ever visit again. Good riddance to CTG.

To which I said, no, it would be difficult for an overweight loudmouth that was probably raised by a single mother to disrespect men to end up with with a Colombiano as the culture is different and Latin men don't really tolerate the disrespect we had to endure since before I was born. She didn't get it, and I can't explain it to her.......

They could easily get a Colombiano if they offer to pay him but they should beware of the scope.
