    Cartagena Visit 2/1/19 to 2/4/19.

I arrived on a Friday and left on a Monday morning.

I stayed in one of Juan's apartments in El Laguito. Great view from the balcony if you want to watch sunsets or the ocean. No beach as the ocean washes right up to the building almost. Safe and secure. Each bedroom door had a lock with a key which made it very easy to chica proof when you can lock all your stuff in one room and hook up with chicas in the other. A little dated, but a great deal at $75 per night. Chica friendly with no hassles with Colombians or Venezuelans. Though chica friendly there are families living hear and other vacationers. 25 K peso taxi from the airport. 10 K peso taxi to the Clock Tower. Small restaurants are close by and cheap. 10 minute walk to the busy public beach or main tourist drag.

Friday night I was lazy and picked up a Venezuelan street walker almost across the street from my apartment. I was kind of disappointed in her appearance once she got naked, but she was only 150 K peso and she was very nice. From my experience with 2 Venezuelans and 2 Colombians, if you want GFE then get a Venezuelan. More kissing and they want more of a romantic feeling. I did see a few other street walkers that were ok walking around in El Laquito, but they were not the stunners that you hear about in Colombia. One girl on the main drag started following me and quoting really low prices to go hookup on the beach. I considered this a setup to get robbed or ripped off somehow. She was overly persistent and was grabbing my arm as I kept walking away.

Saturday night I went to the Clock Tower and loved the open air brothel that everyone says happens after 10:00 PM. Whatever you want is available, but a lot of young skinny girls. Some I would not feel comfortable approaching as I would question if they were really over 18. I had two different Colombians 20 and 22 years old. They wanted 200 K and 250 K. Neither was a clock watcher. Both wanted to hang out in my apartment on the balcony and drink a couple of beers before getting down to business. Not GFE, but not totally mechanical. Much friendlier and better customer service than my experiences in Sosua, DR.

Sunday night I went with one curvy girl from Venezuela. 200 K. Great conversation. She was what you read about in the news about educated girls from Venezuela having to go to Colombia to work as prostitutes in order to support her family back home. It was easy to see that she was more intelligent and classier than the other girls that I met. Wanted to talk, no rush, and wanted to be romantic. Total GFE.

Every girl I was with I feel like I had to kick out when we were done. Totally different from my experiences in The DR or Costa Rica. Chicas in Colombia were always friendlier, classier, and better customer service. Dominicans may fuck a little better, but they always try to tell you that you previously agreed to a higher price and I would never turn my back on one.

Also, when you are at the beach and massage ladies start touch you they will not stop when you say "no gracias. " You have to take their hand and move it off of you and say "NO" for them to go away. I did get a foot massage and then the chick stuck a hand up each side of my shorts and asked if I wanted a happy ending. This was under one of the umbrellas with other people around. I refused and couldn't believe how blatant this was.

The heat was oppressive in the late morning. I wouldn't go out until after 1 or 2. The beach is better in Sosua. The food is better and cheaper in Cartagena. I like the small town look of Sosua. Cartagena is a highly developed area with many large apartment buildings. I like Colombian people more in general. I felt safer with them. I will go to Medellin next weekend of what I believe is better price and better looking chicas than Cartagena.

I didn't install Whatsapp on my phone before I went there. I couldn't receive text messages while there so I couldn't complete the installation. Therefore, I couldn't keep in contact with any chicas to schedule daytime action. Big mistake. I will straighten this out before I go to Medellin. All 4 chicas I was with wanted my number. I did not want them on my Facebook page as I thought that could become a setup for blackmail.

Many Venezuelans now have residency as well.

They need one of two items:

    * Passport with stamp that is more recent than six months (or 90 days I forget).

    * Residency card that acts as their cedula (ID).

No buildings or hotels will register them without this. It's to do with tourism laws.

On airbnb there are hosts that clearly tell you you can bring back visitors and which hours. Go with them. Everyone else assume they aren't catering to what you want.

  3. #8456
You might try La Gran Via in Bocagrande. I already confirmed they are guest friendly while I was down there, but I was staying in Laguito.

Since allowing Venezuelans in without a passport is illegal and the guard could technically get in trouble, no point in asking them ahead of time "can I bring in Venezuelans without passports". Have to take a chance, since there are so few guest friendly places down there.

    Hassle-free apartments

If anyone has a good apartment recommendation or airbnb please PM to me directly. I used to stay in Estellar Hotel, nice hotel and pool, no hassle bringing girls, but last trip they never let anyone from Venezuela because they needed Colombian ID from girls, needless to stay I won't stay there again.

Returning beginning of April for 10 days

Well seeing how I like Cartagena so much, I've decided to stop by again the first week of April. If any fellow mongers are around would be good to meet up for a few beers. I intend on doing boat trips as well and try to get a few girls along for the day. If there anyone interested, feel free to give me a shout.

I'll be in Cartagena with some friends the weekend after Easter. I read that it may be slow around then for Chicas, would it already have gone dead by then? Discovered el Centro and success with a few apps while there last time. If anyone is there around then let me know! Also open to any tips you all have as I was there last year, but it was the weekend before Easter instead.

Easter is a bad time. Especially right after.

I mean you'll get action but you'll probably end up having to go to Isis to get any real action. Everything else will be dead.

I always looked at that rule as them making money off of it. Some of them have passports. But most don't. My last trip. I took one who assured me she had a passport. Got to the front desk. No passport and she had a fake cedula LOL needless to stay it was my last night and I just wanted to fuck. But I had to give him money.

Colombians just need a cedula or any equivalent piece of ID. Did you try La Dulce Vida that night when Elektras was dead?

They will agree with you just so you can book and they can get your money. Hoping you won't cancel or have any other options. I usually book months ahead time but I do a lot of research. And ask a ton of questions. I also read the reviews.

I made the mistake of trying to use AirBnB ahead of time. Then, less than 24 hrs before date, the host wrote asking for the name and info of my guest?! But I was clear. Even used the word 'prepago' and was told all would be ok. I cancelled because this crap was making me nervous. Still was charged some money bc cancelled less than 24 hrs. So I arrived without a reservation, but went to Laguito and tried the bldgs. I had stayed before. Sure enough Mery had a place at Mirador (200 mil pesos / nt.) which worked out fine. No chica fees, but the night desk guy gave a hard time each time I brought a Venezuelan back saying she needed a passport. Had to give him some cash to let her through without passport..

    Chicas.

I had a regular so first day I called her up and she showed with some herb. Next day was a Monday, so I tried out the clock tower area. At 10 pm there was nothing. Still lots of tourists. In fact, I noticed lots of tourists gawking at what few hookers were standing out there, and were even taking pics of the hookers. That kind of crap will prevent some chicas from showing up I'm sure bc of all the tourist gawkers.

Walked over to Elektra at 11 pm. Dead. Not a single chica. I only stayed there till 11:30 bc they didn't have change for my 50 mill note. Finished my beer & sat there hoping somebody else would please buy a beer so I could get my change and leave.

Went back to tower plaza. Much better. Found the chica in the attached pics for 150 k.

Reliable? No. Hosts might be fine with it, but not the building management. I read Airbnb reviews about hosts saying yes and buildings saying no. I don't know how to resolve this issue without being there and doing the leg work. Some members suggested contacting the building managers in addition to hosts, but I don't know how that can be practically arranged.

I stayed at one of Juan's apartments, which was perfectly fine, but I'd like to find something more upscale for my upcoming travel. Some Airbnbs expressly state they allow visitors until 10 PM, but I've never seen anything without conditions. That sucks because I agree with YippieKayay that plucking girls from the main square is your best shot at WYSIWYG.

It's not the best time. It's a month after easter. I went in June and it was so-so (not bad). You can look at my reports. February, September and November have all been fine months. If you can push it back to at least June. I don't have a crystal ball to know the future but I've been there in April a few weeks after Easter and it was completely dead in the old city. Even the hooker bars weren't stocked up with much liquor.

This is up to you. The main attraction of Cartagena is the night life after 10 pm. The old city has parts which turn into open air brothels late at night. It's why I go because I can walk between a few places and see all the action up front. You literally walk around and have beautiful women hit on you all night. Why use escort ads?

Tell them you will be bringing back dates from the old city over night. That's the best way to make sure they're cool with it. Yes, some buildings have extended curfews for visitors. Others are very strict because they don't want that shit.

    EDIT:

To save you some time searching here are my reports from November, September, and June. I won't go as far back as last April because like I said it was pretty dead after Easter.

There are many other good reports from fellow posters here which also give you an idea of their experience. This thread is less active with discussion so its easy to find their reports. Keep in mind, I speak Spanish and have been going there every 3 months solid for the last several years. I tend to hit the ground running. Expect a bit of a learning curve at first. Cartagena is worth it if you like to party!

    Cartagena plan for May.

    Hi all!

I'm planning a trip for myself and a couple friends to Cartagena in May. I considered Panama City and Jaco as well and decided on Cartagena for a few reasons. I'm new to the board, and I see it's good manners to contribute before asking questions so, below is the info I've gathered from researching the board. If any of the regulars on here have anything to add or correct, I'd appreciate it!

    Jaco.

-Beachfront; Not white sand like the Caribbean but decent beach; better than Cartagena's beach which is small to nonexistent near the city.

-Girls cost a bit more than in Cartagena ($100 to $150 for an hour or two in Jaco vs 150 to 200 k COP in Cartagena) and quality is lower vs Cartagena.

-Housing cost is relatively low and quality can be very high end if you want to pay for it; Housing is all low-rise; No high end high rise condos like in Cartagena and Panama City.

-Great activities for daytime like ATV and ziplining.

    Panama City.

-Waterfront but beaches are 1.5 hours away.

-Girls cost 2 to 3 times Jaco and Cartagena; Girls are imported mostly from Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela.

-Infrastructure is much better than Jaco and a bit better than Cartagena; City is the cleanest and developed vs Jaco and Cartagena.

-Higher end nightlife and bar scene.

-Housing is the most expensive vs Cartagena and Jaco; Housing is pretty much all high rise.

    Cartagena.

-Beachfront but all high rises or casas in the city center that mostly don't have water views; If you want a modern beachfront mansion, your choices are much less and much further away from city center vs Jaco.

-Boats can be chartered for day parties to Cholon Island.

I looked into hiring a fixer to arrange for a private pool party and a private boat party, but it seems that they charge at least double what it would cost of just doing it yourself? For example, VIP in Panama for a rooftop pool party on top of a fancy hotel is charging $1100 which includes a DJ for 3 hours, food and open bar for 3 hours plus $150 per girl for 3 hours plus whatever you negotiate with girls for extra services. Very pricey it seems.

So the current plan is to book a casa in Getsemani or Bocagrande on Airbnb that's girl friendly and then put together our own pool party and boat party.

For the boat party, the plan is to pipeline girls through mileroticos and photosprepagos starting a week or two prior to arrival, and then also hitting up the clocktower the first couple of nights to collect lots of numbers, and then negotiate over text and pray they show up at 9 am at the marina.

For the boat itself the plan is to hire either Yacht Charter Cartagena Boats4 you, Cartagena Catamaran, or This is Cartagena as they all have good google reviews.

Any thoughts on the above would be much appreciated! I'm planning this whole trip so I just want to make sure my friends have a good time as we don't get to travel together that often.

    Questions:

-As mentioned above we are planning to go early May, which I see is right out of peak season. Will there still be a decent amount of girls still there to recruit you think?

-If mileroticos and photosprepagos falls through, does anyone have some whatsapp numbers for a good escort service that's reliable? Thanks!

    First Trip.

I'm planning my first trip down and I don't speak any Spanish. Any tips / resources on quickest way to learn some Spanish? Or key Spanish phrases to know?
