I haven't read recent posts about LDV. Why? I had good memories of that place.
    1) The Playa Mar Building. Have stayed there many times. Chica friendly. Good, friendly porteros who are helpful and keep a good eye out.

    2) Blue pills. Yes, available at any pharmacy. There is a pharmacy a couple of buildings to your right after you exit Playa Mar toward the Hotel Hilton. Vit "C" as well. There are various generic versions available and no prescription needed. They are right there in the glass case.

    3) LDV. Closed. The same bar and wait staff work at a location in the old city not far from the Clock Tower toward the Isis strip club.

Was in Cartagena May 19-21. Late morning flight from Fll on jet blue. Painless. Landed. Cleared fast. Went to penthouse was renting from Juan. Was by myself but wanted a party. Get to building. Setup. Go in. Place is huge. Can't connect Wifi. I got downstairs and talk to front desk and he tells me where to find Juans guy, so I go and he connects Wifi, woohooo and we settle.

Flew home, sat on runway for 30 minutes at Fll because everything was full for international. Got off, global entry, passed everyone.

Penthouse was pointless for me and now I know to ask about how many girls for myself. Food scene is getting great. There is a ton of building going on. Also! I know they don't make much, but no one even has change for 20,000. It was getting really annoying. Several times I paid a taxi way too much. I mean, whatever. 8 $. But still! Come on, 20,000 is too much to change. If I go back I need to exchange for lots of small bills!
Good, informative report! Yeah, one of those first steps right up there with unpacking and getting WiFi working is getting some small bills, LOL!! In Laguito, I hit up the tienda just down from the florist for a few items and get the change for a $50 mil bill. Also typically hit the little pharmacy in the other direction toward the Hilton and the little tienda next to it on the corner with the tables outside. All three of those places have never had a problem with my paying with 50's or 20's even though I'm only buying a small item or two.

While I typically don't use Uber in Cartagena (I do elsewhere in Colombia), doing so does eliminate the need for small bills for paying taxis.

Had that same 30 minute wait on plane at FLL a week after you. Only thing that bothered me was the other passengers; some folks just lack consideration and think only of themselves, as if their time is more important than the next guy's. Sit your ass back down like they announced, quit complaining and wait it out like the rest of us. It is no wonder there are so many problems on flights these days. I digress.

Thanks for confirming that Mirador del Laguito still has the one chica per guy rule in effect. Figured they did, but it's always good for readers to get periodic updates to learn if anything has changed.

You are well versed in Cartagena. Is Juan pretty much it for girlfriendly apartments? His places are usually booked. A chica I know told me she will find a nice hotel for me in centro but I prefer Bocagrande for the peace and quiet at night.
I wouldn't go as far as saying he's pretty much it, no. Speaking first hand, I've rented apartments from other owners / managers in the same buildings in Laguito where Juan has apartments and not had a problem. Also know 2nd hand of others who have rented elsewhere, including in Castillo Grande and the old city, and not had a problem. Personally, I rent from Juan, unless I'm wifed-up. If I'm wifed-up, then the more restrictive buildings and hotels are fine and if I want a little variety, I take the stray cat to a "love motel". Oh, I've also rented from Mery, but it's been several years and most of her apartments were in Mirador del Laguito and I quit staying there after they put in a bunch of restrictions.

    May 19-21

    Hey guys,

    Little late report.

I head to my favorite restaurant at the corner where Hollywood turns to laguito, the one on the left at the very end with two stories. I was going there for the whole fried fish with is my favorite, and their octopus dish. I sit down have a beer and immediately I see three super hot chicks walking by. I they look, I wave, they wave, I wave them over. They sit down and have beer. All have great bodies but one has a pig face. We talk and they are Venezuelan, we have more drinks, take pics, tease, time flies and I need to leave and we exchange numbers. I didn't eat So a girl I met last time is set to come over, freaking 2 hours late. We play, have dinner, she leaves. Happened way fast but was 200 k. Whatever. She's cute.

So I go back to the apartment and I see my 2 Venezuelans. I text them to leave the other, we would go to centero, drink, party, then play. So anyway, only one can go up! I'm told one guest staying there can bring one girl! I said this is 3 bedroom apartment! I am a lone. I text Juans guy and he tells me this is the rule. I was not happy about this. I mean I never figured to ask. Never had this issue. So they leave. I help them some. So I go up and chill and text a girl from tinder that is local. She comes over an brings some California herbs for me. Wow it sucked. Ahaha. So we just stay in and play alll night, 300 k. Next morning play, breakfast, adios.

The day I walked all of old city. Went to la cevicheria, and several other famous restaurants all day and stuffed my face. It was amazing and I spent like 100 $.

That evening I went to arepa pues. My god the arepa with chicharron is amazing. This is my first time there and I will make it my first stop next time. I can confirm new hours. It opens I think 4 pm and closes 4 or 5 am.

So walking back I run into Venezuelans walking. All dressed. I said I need to shower. I text them on WhatsApp later but never connected.

I go to a Peruvian restaurant in centro that's well known, have their octopus dish and a fillet on mushroom risotto. Amazing food.

I head back, to the apartment. Walking up I see a cute girl and talk, take her up for a quickie 150 k.

Next morning I wake up, walk around early, nothing happening. Stop for some breakfast. Head to centro to walk around and shop, buy some nice art pieces. For the first time I ran into a police officer harassing a homeless disabled man. It was disturbing, I kept my head down and walked away.

Flew home, sat on runway for 30 minutes at Fll because everything was full for international. Got off, global entry, passed everyone.

I enjoyed it. I didn't get out too much for girls but this trip was about doing what I want. Unfortunately due to normal life I have a schedule that wakes up early and bed early, so I'm not a late night person. I do feel the girl scene has changed a lot. Prices low. It was very humid and hot and extremely windy, but no rain. I changed clothes like 3-4 times a day.

8 $. But still! Sorry for the shitty typing. All on iPad.

First, if she's Venezuelan she better have a recent stamp on her passport, or no registration for her. Secondly, you can register visitors yourself but if its an overnight visitor the renter (or apartment sales agent) needs to be physically there with you when you register her. That's a hassle in Cartagena where everyone is late and never shows up on time. The receptionists have been trained in the Palmetto buildings to do everything possible to discourage extranjeros from bringing women into the building.

Back when I was in Cartagena in January the sales guy who rented me the apartment even admitted there was new management who was making it difficult to bring guests back.

The upside is the Palmetto Beach and Palmetto Eliptic are both well maintained. No roaches or anything nasty. I'd love to find nice buildings by the beach without the shitty anti-sex tourist protocols in place.
Sounds like you choose to go back to a building with such policies. Others choose to rent an apartment in a building and from an owner / manager where the mere registration of one's guest is not a "hassle" or a "problem". It's one's choice. 11 years ago I made a choice to listen to other members here on where and who to rent an apartment from while in Cartagena. Other than when the administrator changed things up at the Mirador del Laguito, things have been pretty much hassle-free when it comes to bringing a guest (s) at any hour. What did I do when they adopted more restrictive policies at the Mirador? I stopped renting an apartment in that building and stayed in other nearby buildings. Seems fairly straight forward.

I wouldn't find it a hassle should the portero not let a Venezuelan chica in because she entered the country illegally. I'd say thanks amigo-good to know. Then if I wanted to bang her, we'd walk back out to the street, hail a taxi, and head to Las Dunas. Having to go that route ends-up costing what amounts to around $25 more (motel, r/t taxi) to bang the undocumented Venezuelan-still no biggie. Having those undocumented girls flood the market increased supply, which lowered prices, and it all washes out in the end, LOL.

Based on what you report, to minimize any cramping of one's style, one wouldn't stay at Palmetto Beach and / or Palmetto Eliptic unless one was wifed-up for the trip, or unless one accepted such policies as "no biggie". One may also want to add "are you in the country legally with stamped documentation" to the "do you have an ID question" before telling the taxi which direction to go when with a Venezuelan chica.

FYI, most of these protocols are not being put in place because of sex-tourists, but the gangs of young Israelis. They have a bad reputation (well-earned) in Cartagena. Apartment owners and admin are trying to discourage them from renting in their buildings by instituting these new rules.

I'm going to be in Colombia end of month but only in Medellin. I'll be in Cartagena labor day weekend into the week. Some of my friends in Barranquilla want to go to Santa Marta so I'm looking at spending a few days there as well. I hear the beach is much nicer but since I'll be with them no monkey business hahaha.

However, one strategy we have used is for my GF and the chica to go up to the room by themselves and then I follow a bit later.
