For future reference you need to check in at least an hour before a flight because of TSA rules. They need to check everyone going on board the plane. Also, you should have flagged someone down and explained that your plane was late and you had a connecting flight. Usually, they will accomodate you and let you cut.

There is no explaining to TSA or Customs workers, there was 2 planes late and several bus loads of people put up in hotels. I had the best chance of making my plane over the others. Ain't no checking in an hour before your flight on a connecting flight, they have no idea I am there before I board and give them my boarding pass which isn't an hour before departure more like 40 minutes.

Got delayed two hours on CTG due to AC problems on the plane actuallyhad to deplane. Bought the big front seat to cut my time. The customs line was too long so missed my flight I should have cut but thought I had time but that 20 minute prior to departure time got me. I was at the Spirit rebooking counter even before my scheduled departure. With carry on only you would think they would have let me board. Heard some Spirit horror stories on getting stiffed for hotels. They paid for a room at Fairfield Inn transport three vouchers and booked me a flight on Us Airway for this morning. I guess the rule is if you have less than an hour to connect they have to pay otherwise you do. The free transportation I waited too long finally took a cab both ways from airport. What a clusterfuck. Nice rooms at the hotel. I got to connect in DC for Detroit hopefully I make it I am in the front again. LOL

I don't get this Tony thing in general. Why ever deal with him? I mean it is not that nobody else rents chairs there and the beer I can get myself if needed (with the added advantage that I can get closer to the real price). I find the people at other spots on the beach much nicer and as I wrote, Tony was not especially helpful with chicas either.

Tony is for guys that don't speak spanish, have no balls and are lazy, not that there's anything wrong with that, hahaha.

I avoid him as a pest, when I go there. He is not only just trying to overcharge you, but he is also embarrassing with his loud claims and offers in front of everyone, because he likes to show he speaks some words (imagine WHAT words) in English, Italian, etc

The only people who use a pimp at the beach are the dumb arses paying more than 80k pesos for short time then go home and complain that Cartagena is expensive, it is if you got dumb look on the face syndrome.

I don't know what their official guest policy is, since I never asked them. But I think no Hotel in the world can forbid you to bring someone to your room. Staying overnight is of course another story. I never had a girl overnight, don't like that. But I doubt that anyone would ever notice at the Hampton (as long as it is like it is now with nobody at the elevators).

These guest policies of some hotels are ridiciulous. I would never accept that, look for an appartment instead, or, if you don't like that I recommend you to stay in the new Hampton by Hilton Hotel. I am there right now and it is fantastic. It only recently opened and everything is totally new, paint just dry. But the best thing is, they don't have a Lobby when you enter, the lobby is on the 17st floor so you can bring somebody to your room without anyone taking notice. To me this is even better than an apartment where you always have 2 to 3 people watching you when you enter the building. I don't like that and that is why I moved here. The only risk is of course how long they will do it like that. With all the scammers and con artists in Cartagena they might soon move a security guy in front of the elevators to prevent people from opening a food stall or a CD vending table in the entrance. But for now it is fine, I can really recommend it.

What is the normal guest policy at the Hampton? Also, do they include breakfast like in the USA?

301 in Playa Mar Juan Ventura rents it for 100 a night. I checked it out myself last night.

Do you know anything about Almirante in Laguito.

(1722 sq. Feet) apt. Was completely remodeled in 2011. There are 3 bedrooms at $150 a night.

I don't see any security issues. Nobody who is not living at your floor can get to it. And when a chica runs wild, throw her out of the room. The only way she can go is to the exit or to the lobby. The best security for me is good people judgement and a proper "job interview" to figure out if a girl is honest and nice or a crook. Of course you can never tell for sure, but during the years I build up quite a decent sense for that. If a problem arises, I think the guys in front of the apartment buildings would not do any other thing either than call the police. They are pretty useless in my view.
