Do you really want to worry about a girl drugging or robbing you the whole time you are with her? Do you want to be harassed for money every time you step out of a club? Yes Cartagena is cheaper and there is more access to women, but the hoops you have to jump through to play the game there is just rediculous. You can't even bring a girl back to 95% of the hotels in the city.

When the Gingos limits themselves to the same damn 3 clubs (Space, Dolce, Delirium), the same damn beach (Playa Hollywood Kiosk #4) the same damn area in the Clocktower (Mirador, and El Portal), the same damn hotels in Boca Grande and El Laguito well then of course this will be the majority of their experience. There are many other places the gringo can go where they will not experience this.

I'm currently here, zero worries about drugging, have not heard a single "tengo hambre" or "dame plata por favor" "or "pamper or milk for baby". All my girls can come and go as they please Why? Because I'm sticking with girls I've known for years and we are going places where the youtubers aren't. I also have a AirBB with no security.

I've told people many times on forums, whatsapp groups, and in person that if they go to these places in Cartagena then this will be their experience and of course they don't listen, proceed to watch a few youtube videos, go there and try to emulate what they saw in the video, then come back and complain about the bad experience like they were not warned by multiple people.

Wanted to get some veteran insights on something that happened to me this morning. Basically I'm travelling to Cartagena soon and wanted to start chatting up some of the girls out there. So I went on Skokka and started chatting with a girl. Only a couple of short conversations via WhatsApp. This morning I received a message on my WhatsApp from her demanding money or she will post my pic with a header that I don't pay girls in Spanish. The person is threatening to send it all over social media unless I help her / them financially. I told them to go ahead as I have nothing to hide in my life. I didn't send any messages or pics or anything even remotely inappropriate nor have I even travelled to Cartagena yet. She used my WhatsApp photo to make the poster.

This isn't a huge deal for me. I'm 3000 miles away in my cozy apartment but it definitely has given me pause about the game out there. For the record, I only messaged this one girl and after the fact told myself how stupid it was but didn't think anything of it until this morning.

Any thoughts (aside from me being a total ******* for even doing this shit)?

Your asking for advice, so I am going to assume you are new to the game and have poor Spanish. If you are on a budget, Hit Medellin up, but stay away from the online stuff. No Tinder, No Seeking. It's just unnecessary for a weekend or even 2 week vacation. Hit the strip clubs up and get numbers and if you can budget it, just fuck them on site. Fase Dos and La Isla will give you all you need. If you don't want to spend the money, play the game and get numbers and negotiate a lower price later. Do not fuck with the street walkers. If you can afford a plane ticket, you can afford to avoid dirt cheap street walkers, although the diamonds in the rough are out there. The thing is, it's just an unnecessary risk. Hit Gustos up and get numbers, those girls will be less likely to pull shady shit, but its possible they could so plan accordingly.

If you have the cash and especially if you speak Spanish, the big three of Mexico are all better. CDMX, GDL, and Monterrey. Well maybe not CDMX unless you want to do seeking for 2 weeks ahead of time and line dates up.

If you want a beach vacation and have cash, I would argue Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta are better due to safety, but your options for girls will be limited there.

If you want beach weather and Casino action and have a large budget, My favorite is Panama City. Ocean Casino Bar is safe and the girls were very attractive. Be prepared to drop 2-3 hundred a girl though. I heard there are some other good spots like Habano's, but I personally have not been there.

If you want beach, grittyness, and the urban vibe, Sosua is an experience you won't forget. Yes, I would pick Sosua over Cartagena, but I could see some guys choosing Cartagena because the girls on average are more attractive there. Real danger is not really present in Sosua in terms of druggings and scams and shit like that. You do need to chica proof your room if you bring a girl back though. I also have not been to the Sue post-covid, but from what I have gathered, the only difference is Classicos is closed and the girls are charging a bit more. Nothing like a cold Presidente with the napkin wrap.

I can't comment on Brazil, but check the Brazil forums because I hear many goods things about that country as well.

Thanks for that info, and you are pretty on target about me. New to the game, spanish is poor but I'm very motivated to improve it. I'm not looking to save pennies on "the talent" - I would prefer better looking / more chilled out girls. Maybe I should split my time between Cartegena and Medellin (except the strip club scene isn't really me. Not much of a drinker or a late night kind of person).

I've been going to Cartagena for 16 years now. More in the last 7 then previous. So since 2007 it has changed drastically, and so has this hobby.

These forums kind of existed before, but now we have instagram, twitter, tik tok and YouTube. You see videos from just seconds ago and they go everywhere. This like everything else has so much more exposure than ever before.

So what I'm getting to is there's a shitload of rookies. I personally know someone who's married two of these girls already and still doesn't get it! You can get drugged in Miami also picking up a girl from the bar at blue martini because she's going to walk away with your watch later too. That's everywhere. It's a game for sure. It is part of this. Unless you're in a place like maybe Thailand where it's sooooooo widely accepted; this will always have its risks.

I am not hearing about the average tourist having issues. Officials won't allow it. They just got a big private investment to increase the size of the current airport and next year will likely announce a new huge one. The port and cruises are busier than ever!

I am sure they turn a blind eye when it's someone in this community because they hope we go away.

So in conclusion, sure you can avoid it. Or you can enjoy Cartagena for the nice city it is. Be smart. Don't be out 2, 3 am partying. Take the party back to your place or.

Neighborhood instead. There's plenty of little restaurants allllll over that will serve beer to a group gladly. Shit stop and get a small bottle on the way for shots or easy mixed drink. Then you can just walk 100'ft to your hotel or apartment.

And like I stated before. Watch yourself. It's not difficult.

There's no reason to hit up Cartagena when many other options are available and they are far less dangerous. Especially if you are solo.

I really feel like what's going on is due to an over saturation of rookies in this hobby! I mean. I've been doing this most my adult life and I'm sure I'm still below the average age here. Starting in Costa Rica, sampled in Guatemala. Ecuador. Peru. Thailand. Amsterdam, Colombia. Maybe I've really done my research over the years and learned?

If you have a chick over, how do you leave anything out where she can get it. Fuck I even hide kitchen knives! Quick sweep through when I get to the apartment first. Have everything ready. Come back to apartment. Everything goes straight to safe except cell. I go to bathroom I take the cell with me. I have a drink, I finish it or take it with me.

Always deadbolt the door too.

Carry a copy of your passport. Tip the doormen and security. Make them your buddies. Don't get in a car with someone else. Take your taxi or Uber. Don't walk around with phone in hand. Don't wear flashy stuff. If using tinder or something don't put flashy pics. Know where you're going, look at where you're going and familiarize yourself first so you don't get lost down a dark street.

I feel like this should all be common sense.

Don't forget. Don't select the location where crime is exploding and there are dozens of reports of druggings, muggings, robberies, and just a general sense of danger. When places get as bad as Cartagena, let that location die. Stop going there. The girls will starve and they will quickly find the destination where the money is at. Even if it is out of the country. I see so many Colombians and Vennies all over Mexico and even United States. Dudes should not tolerate that shit. I know I won't ever go back to Cartagena after the shit I dealt with over the summer. When the money goes dry and the girls need a new location, I suspect word will get out and their behavior will be more tolerable.

And absolutely don't leave shit out to get stolen or other rookie mistakes. Personally, I would rather shell out a few more dollars and enjoy my self without having to worry so much about the shady stuff, but if you got to play cheap and dangerous, at least be smart about it. Bottom line, Pick a safer destination even if it is a bit more expensive.

Just wanted to thank you Nypher for sharing a lot of great info on here that I learned from while lurking before my trip.

It's the bakery down the block from Space and Dolce on the corner. During the day time its packed with locals / tourists and and at night (10 Pm and later) mostly all the ladies getting a quick bite. I grew up eating Colombian bakery food in the states and can verify its one of the best Pan de Bono's (cheese bread) I've tried inside or out of Colombia. Explains why all the talent go there as its amazing and cheap. Amazing fresh juices as well. I didn't notice any stench and doubt they would let it get smelly for long as its across the street from a church and also a major touristy intersection during the day. That lady begging is certainly there. There are also lots of dudes there offering hotels or free entry into the clubs etc at night. I'd ignore everyone except talent LOL. Once you find some talent take them around the block and chat over a cheap beer from a store.

Safety has been a major topic as of late and I truly feel for my American bro's. If you are a solo mongering traveler that doesn't really speak spanish / can't hold a real conversation then I 100% recommend using some vetted guide you can probably find on here. We had no problems as Gringo Bilinguals while there but I can tell there is at least a little resentment / jealousy of Gringos by some of the local dudes offering clubs / motels on the street at night. Just be nice and respectful when you say no no no to all the offers and move on. I'd recommend statying away from all substances offered too. Some of them probably take joy in hearing about a "dumb gringo" being robbed and some probably enjoy doing it. It likley irks them watching the hottest women giving all the gringos attention they will never get making only $300-$400 USD a month.

For the love of God leave all jewelry and Apple products in the US. Buy some cheapo used fully unlocked Android phone in the US (maybe have a backup too) and inside the Centro / walled City you can get a Claro Sim with 9 GB of Data for a month for about $8-10 USD. They will pop it in and set it up for you. Set up Whatsapp with your new Cartagena number and download Indriver App for Cabs. Only use cabs from the App or called by Hotels.

Ill be landing early next week for Carnival, 11 nights in Cartegena, 4 nights in Barranquilla, then I have to decide if ill do a week in Medellin or Santa Martha. I wanted to get there a week before due to those plate tickets were just too damn high during the week of carnival. Yesterday I told my main Dolce girl I'm coming and she immediately told me she won't be able to come with me to carnival because some high paying gringo already send her $1000 to be with him, the kicker is his ass don't even get there until the 16th, then when he get there, hes going to give her more money. Of course I call bullshit but then she sends me a screenshot of the PayPal transaction (well that shut me up), His pockets, his choice. So she tells me since she cannot go to carnival with me she will stay with me the week prior and if I want she can help me get a girl to go with me. Not a bad deal so I put that on pause. Then I reached out to my Delirium chica she said similar, high paying gringo coming so she can't go with me to carnival (WTF). I was complacent after 2 decades going weekly to Tijuana, other cities in Mexico, Asia, Europe and Latin America, never lost anything. Did avoid losing the wallet and passport in a filthy Viet *****house on 49th street in Phnompenh thanks to warnings by the bros in that thread. Went to the French villa with a classy brothel full of Viet girls, picked up a few for all nighters, no problemos.

When she said she was hungry, I felt compassion for the people's hardship in Venezuela, so I was cutting her some slack, treating her with dignity not like a potential thief. Best free pickup Spot: The Pan. Debono bakery / cafe that every working girl seems to stop by every single night on the corner near Space and Delirium. IMO much more attractive girls are found there VS the clock tower. Once they hear you speak English you will certainly get their attention.

Yes, can confirm they all stop there to eat and hang out there. That street Calle de San Agustin Chiquita also get allot of foot traffic when the girls are walking from Space to Delurium. But you have to deal with that lady whose always there begging infront of the shop.
