Still searching and waiting to get the latest information on the above things in Cartagena. Someone out there must have been, or presently is in Cartagena. Your information and reports will be greatly appreciated.

Tom 33's prices for LDV are correct. I don't bother with LDV any more. It's more expensive and hardcore than when I first knew it two years ago. It's a nice environment and good management, however you have to look really hard to find a sweet chick with good attitude. The chicks will all quote you prices that are expensive for Colombia and they won't bargain very far.

Ditto Tom... It's a perfect time to go to Cartagena. All the schools are out around June 20 so a lot the non-pros from al over the country looking to make an extra buck for clothes, cell phones, fall school tuition become working girls for a month... and you will also have just a lot of normal girls going to the beach for their 1 month off. you'll have fun.

Ok. That time period is school vacation in Colombia. Everyone goes to the beach. There will be pussy all over the place.

Go to the Clock Tower in Centro and hit any disco there. Tu Candela is always good. Mr. Babilla's, about 4 blocks from the tower is also good.

The LDV girls will ask for 150 to 200K for short time. Some will bargain. Some won't. Aldo, the manager of LDV, is involved with another club in Centro. Ask him about it.

I generally pay 60 to 80K for short time to girls I meet on the street or in restaurants. I don't bother with LDV anymore.

You wont be picking up any single women at the black tie event as everyone will be with a date. Unless of course you are talking about hitting on the participants of the event. The Coronacion (Black Tie event) is like watching Miss America or Miss Universe competition on TV. I.e. It's formal, therre is a dinner, and everyone will be with whoever they are with to watch the competition. It wont be people walking around mingling etc.... and I doubt any dateless Colombianas are going to be there at 240k pesos a seat. Ah and your comment about sophistication and wealth. the majority of the poeple at the coronation will all be wealthy Colombianos or possibly some extrnajeros. You won't stick out much at an event like this from a wealth prospective. It will be people with $$$ at the coronation.

The desfile de bano is your best shot to hit on chicas... but even there... 100k pesos a seat... most will be with dates, etc. Unless again, you are talking about going after the participants, which I really don't have any idea if that is conceivable or not. I assume after the desfile or at some of the other events that are at... I.e. that party in the daytime at the Hilton you can chat with them.

You may have a hard time getting them to respond, send an email once a day or call them and eventually you will hear back from them. If I recall, the tickets went on sale in July last year. I contacted them around November 1 and got put on the wait list for the bathing competition. Both the other events still had tickets available. Below is the email from my correspondence with them on November 1 last year. Note... since the bathing competition was sold out and that is the one I really wanted to see, I aked around quite a bit in Cartagena. There were scalpers all over el Laguito, trying to get me to pay anywhere from 200k pesos to 350k pesos the 48 hours leading up to the event. I didnt budge. 10 minutes before the bathing competition began you could get tickets for 150k pesos. After the event began... you could get tickets for 80k pesos of less. However, it is good that you are trying to get them early as youd much prefer to have your own tickets as opposed to 1) paying a huge price to scalpers or 2) having to wait till after it starts... sure you will get a great price... (below face value), but your seat will suck. You want to get in there an hour before it starts.

There are 3 main events that cost money... see email below. There is also a short parade in Boca Grande or Laguito like the Thursday (1st day) I wasnt there yet and something they do on boats on Friday or Saturday and as Tom33 poiinted out they build some sort of seating deal for the boat thing that they do... I did not see that last year.
Desfile in Traje is a costume parade where all the gals dress up in wierd costumes. It's under the clock tower and attire is like jeans. It wont sell out.
Desfile in banos is at the Hilton... any attire. This sells out first.

Coronacion is at the conventions center. It's a black tie dinner and the final night. LAst year there were still tickets availbable up until the day before.

The desfile de banos is also televised on local TV in Cartagena an hour or 2 after the event starts.

Also, there are other "parties". I.e. I went to the Hihlton the day of the defile de banos and all the gals were there. I couldn't get in, I think it was for guests of the Hilton only. No big deal. The thing you want to see is the desfile de bano. If you are going to stay through Tuesday you might want to go see the Coronation also. Other than that, the discos at night over the weekend and the desfile de bano competition is the fun part.

It is a fun weekend as everything as all the discos are packed wall to wall. too crowded in fact. See email below. Hope this helps.

I'm not in the US. When I get back I'll send you the website and phone #. If I forget, remind me. However, which event are you planning on going to see? The best is the swimsuit at the Hilton. Pluses and minuses... if you don't have a ticket there are scalpers trying to sell tickets 3 times over face value the days before all the way up to an hour before the event. The plus... wait till 5 minutes after it starts and you can get a ticket for half of face value... though since you are entering after it's started you won't get the best seat in the joint. I went last year and I can honestly say I probably would have been better off watching it on tv.

Its not really a high season in Ctg, the only thing that costs more money is the flight tickets into Colombia from Europe at least, not sure if the cost more from the USA.

The other prices remain the same as the remainder of the year.

There are only three high seasons really in Ctg, Easter week, Miss Colombia week in November, the week or two before Chritmas and the week or two into the New Year.

I have to agree more with Tiofio's point of view. I'm leaving for Medellin next week, and got myself an excursion to Cartagena. I was told that I had to make my reservetions prior June 15, because that day the prices were going to change to the "high season."
