I have made that a habit, and the rewards have been great though not without some risks. In my observation, most people do not venture much outside their comfort zone, if at all. They stay deeply entrenched in their comfort zone or the "box" they constructed for themselves in which to live.

I get that approach, easy to understand, safe, "comfortable", their sense of self does not get challenged, secure.

For me, that is boring, stale, I would rather be dead. In fact, I can spot those people above in a second. All you have to do is look at their face and they have "dead eyes". No sparkle, no life, they "settled" and accepted their lot in life a long time ago. I don't have any friends like that because they also tend to be very boring. I am not saying they can't be happy. They have a ton of like-company.

BTW, Medellin is the most fun place I have ever been to "step outside your comfort zone" and this ain't my first rodeo. Fuck, but don't do it unless you have good street sense and intuition or the risk / reward ratio will be too high. I guess there are some good safety reasons why some people shouldn't venture outside their box.

Anyone interested, for 89 k you can be picked up on La 70 near the Estadio Metro Station and taken to Guatap. It's an all day tour that includes breakfast and lunch. Boat ride on the lake, visit to the rock, tour of Guatap city and Penol. It can be an inexpensive date with a chica. It's a good experience and worth it.

This doesn't mean shit. He probably took you on a tour to El Centro just because he lives there and wanted to show you around, or perhaps, got tired of hanging out in El Poblado. Besides much lower cost of living and proximity to street action and casas, I see no other reasons to be living in El Centro, especially, if one is financially successful. I guess, he has his own motives of doing so, but objectively speaking, El Pobaldo beats El Centro in every major aspect that is important to a monger from a developed country. If you disagree with my prior statement regarding the restaurants, nightlife, malls, etc then give us a favor and explain why El Centro is the place to be.

For people willing to step out of the El Poblado cocoon, there is a great deal more to experience in Medellin.

The best burgers (according to the last competition I saw results for) are in Envigado. The best love motel is in Itagui. The best clothes shopping and furniture shopping is also in Itagui, except for mattresses. You should go to Laureles for that, where you can watch them being handmade. The best place to walk (a form of exercise many of us enjoy) is debatable, except it's definitely not El Poblado.

I enjoy luxury. I also enjoy a bargain. For 250 k per night, under $60, I can get a hotel, not in El Poblado, which matches or exceeds almost any $200-$300 hotel in Medellin. As a bonus, it's a short walk to the best mall in Medellin, easily accessible to the metro, is extremely quiet and has a wonderful staff.

I love good food. Provenza is great when you want to celebrate and don't care about the cost. However, there are many little hole in the wall places, with fantastic food at a price which is ridiculously low. Laureles is full of them, but they can be found all over the city.

There's a lot more to the world once you step outside of your comfort zone.

But still the question remains to them: how do you finde before humans the nice, hot and lovely Medellin chicas who are willing to meet and have sex or just dinner for money or no money? I appreciate the through response. This is my first trip to Colombia, but not my first trip internationally. I have limited Spanish skills, but certainly more than none. I'm also familiar with translate and offline maps. I'm from the states, so I don't believe power adapters are necessary. All great advice for someone completely green.

I've always had drinks available in my room, but not snacks. I've also never provided gifts in the past either. However, I'm looking for any edge I can get for something other than mechanical service. I've learned that money alone can't do that. If trying to establish a connection in other ways might work, I'm willing to try. Just trying to find info about what people find works for their purposes and what doesn't.

A friend owns a successful business in El Poblado. Guess where he lives? El Centro. When he gave me a tour, where did he take me? El Centro. Even at night time, he took me to a place that is off the beaten path. It's a mistake to think everyone thinks the same way. El Poblado has the best of certain things, but not everything.

Overall good advice.
