I have been following you (enviously) since your decision to buy an apartment in Bello, but I also agree that you should explain your situation as a disclaimer so newbies do not mistake it for something they can pull off. I booked my first trip to Colombia today. I'll be there September 3-17. I'm starting a spreadsheet to list things I might need while there. I'd appreciate feedback on things that you didn't think of, but would have been useful on your trips. For example, we've seen a lot of discussion here lately about "bombillos". Do you bring snacks from home so that the girls can experience something from your home country? If so, what do you find is really popular with them? I've seen people mention bringing small gifts from like a Five Bellow, what did you buy there? Once complete, I'd be happy to share the spreadsheet with any board member who'd like it.

This is not only about safety. Poblado and Laureles got the best restaurants, bars and nightlife. Best hotels and apartments. Best cinemas and shopping malls. It makes no sense to go across the whole city to one of those barrios, let alone stay there, especially if a monger doesn't speak Spanish. Excellent post. You hear about gringos getting mugged or scoped in poblado because that's where the vast majority go. Very very few tourists go to Aranjuez, Manrique, etc. Rice Rocket has a great system down and I enjoy his posts, but I wouldn't recommend most of my fellow hobbyists to do the same. If you speak Spanish and live there and are street wise that's a different thing.

Even he can run out of luck in a flash and without notice. Manrique, Bello, whatever, they damn sure know he isn't a local. He's also cocky and partying heavy. At least he's been warned.

What you all fail to realize is. Rice rocket has been here for 10+ years. He's well established, has his contacts all over medallo. He doesn't party or just take out one girl like most guys. When he parties he parties with groups of chicas that he's known for 4+ years that are locals to whatever barrios he's at. And these ain't just regular chicas. These chicas are bad ass bandidas that have no shame in who they are or slashing a mother fucker if you cross them the wrong way.

He's also not just about getting laid and partying. He takes time to build friendships / relationships / contacts over the years. He's so well established now that his friends throws girls at him to where he does not have to hunt for desconocidas or random girls unlike the rest of us.

So yes he can afford to party in the barrios with a bunch of chicas in their hood. They treat him like he's part of their hood and he's one of them. This guy lives like a king at the fraction of the cost we all pay for logistics / girls etc and these barrio girls he's with are way better than central sw.

Can someone outline what La Isla is like? I'm mixing it up with other strip clubs.

Is there an entrance fee? Cost of a girl is around 300 K pesos? Is there a room fee? Price for a beer?

There are a few recent reports that you can search. I can't tell you the price because it seems to have increased again so my info is out of date from just a few months ago. The girl will cost more than that. Expect that you may need to pay a large tip if you can find one that will do BBBJ. The room fee has always been included if it has not changed. I think as the way it is setup now, you can pay a cover and don't buy drink. There used to be a price list behind the bar but I didn't notice it after remodel. I remember there is a barcode at the bar that you can scan to view menu on your phone but I didn't scan it.

Here is a suggestion, to avoid a dud, have a make out session in the club area before going to the room if possible. This is what I used to do in La Isla, and what many mongers are doing in clubs in Brazil which cost much more than La Isla. From a value point of view, you want to fuck one that you don't see often elsewhere, pay whatever you can to get what you want if that is the case but don't overpay what you can easily get elsewhere.
