Comparing the poor people in Colombia where the poverty rate is at least eight times higher than in the USA is also full of pitfalls. In a nutshell, poverty is the exception to the rule in North America, while here in Colombia, poverty rules.

The official poverty rate in the US in 2020 (most recent official rate) was 11.4 percent. Eight times that is 91.2. Anyone who believes the poverty rate in Colombia is at least 91.2 percent must be on one of the hullucination trips being discussed here. The official poverty rate in Colombia in 2020 was 37.5 percent.

It's sad, there has been so much research done on hallucinogens but most of it was buried and dismissed. There is clearly benefits for a lot of mental disorders. There were a lot of just horrible experiments also. Clearly there is a lot to be sorted and it is starting to be opened up again. I think that a lot of people have a tourist sort of ayahuasca tours but I know people who have been invited to have the proper ceremony. You will need a guide if you are doing it properly and not just getting high. Additionally, if you are just getting high it may not be the experience you want. Have you ever done acid? Mushrooms? Peyote?

Yes, my impression about psilocibin research was that in the USA it's insanely difficult, nearly impossible, to gain access to it for research purposes as the govt put it on Schedule I, with no "known" medical uses. So we can't discover medical uses because we can't have access to it because it has no known medical uses. Brilliant logic.

I don't do recreational drugs, I did have mushrooms a few times at locations where they are legal and I could get them from legal sources. No peyote (I am open to it but needs to be in a safe place from a reputable source) and no acid. Mostly because of possible permanent adverse effects when done wrong, but also question of trustworthy source being that I am not connected to the community of users.

I have a feeling that the tourist sort of ayahuasca may not be helpful to the same extent a proper ceremony would be. So that's what I'm trying to find.

There was a news story a few years back when a US tourist got lost in some kind of a parallel universe while in ayahuasca ceremony (couldn't find his way back from one hut to another) but he was found a week or two later. Very strange, I thought.

So I plan to see some chicas, but also want to site see, hike, check out Guatape, etc. Where do I find a good guide or wingman that's knowledgeable about the mongering scene there? Or if someone can point me in the right direction?

I have a driver / interpreter / shopper / trusted friend who will take you around Medellin. He's not especially knowledgeable about mongering but he is reliable and speaks fluent English and was extremely helpful on my trip. Hit the travel announcements section and post your dates and hope a generous monger is in town. I don't know of any mongering guide service I mean I know guys that stay at the mansion and stuff that's probably as convenient as it gets. There's a few Medellin youtubers who have "consultation" fees to teach you the basics but honestly its a pretty straightforward DIY mongering destination. Just take care not to be downtown at night and keep your wits about you and follow what ID call the basic advice in any developing foreign country.

Basically I am specifically doing research for a fictional book about Ayahuasca because there's been some research suggesting that it helps with PTSD-related depression. So any rumors on the logistics, effects, side effects or outcome are certainly welcome.

I am actually planning on coming to Medellin to do an Ayahuasca retreat in the next few months. I have done a fair amount of research, and yes it is known to work quite well. I know a lot, clinically speaking, about PTSD; particularly, C-PTSD.

Ayahuasca, the dude who I sat next to on the Greyhound bus was reallly into it, and we talked about it a lot, for over an hour. He was into all this spiritual awakening stuff. Never heard of it around here or near Medellin but that could be my knowledge gap. Here's why I won't try it.

After talking to the dude in detail about it, and even though I never tried it, Tussi or 2 CB or pink cocaine or the good stuff they make in Colombia sounded to me and to the guy like the preferable option. And I was not trying to do a sales job on the guy. I won't go into details but everything from the logistics, to the effects, lack of side effects, and especially including outcome, tipped the scales in favor of my obviously biased choice. I am not recommending any specific action for anyone else other than relating my own experience.

Hmmm, based off my own personal experiences I can't find much truth to this. And trust me I am no slender guy. Hookers in general will have fun with any dude who is paying them, but I don't think "regular" attractive Latin American women are going after fat middle aged men because they are attracted to his obesity LOL.

No, I'm not as experienced as you. But I'm not green either. I've mongered in 6 countries to date so I consider myself fairly experienced. I do not hold myself out to be all knowing, far from it. Perhaps 'well-travelled' is more appropriate.

And I'm visiting Colombia for the first time. Girls in different countries may react differently to weight. For example, in Thailand, there would be no problem. In the FKK clubs in Germany, you would definitely have a harder time but would still have a chance with a significant majority of girls.

This is the first time I'm mongering when overweight. Over COVID I've put on over 40lbs. To say it has dented my confidence is an understatement. Please don't be so quick to judge.

Some guys don't know how to present themselves, or worse, don't care. From the stories I have been told by the sex workers (SW), that does not go unnoticed by them. But the sex workers are not so stupid to bite the hand that feeds them, for the most part. And probably the same guy who doesn't care he has three inch nose hairs and bad breath isn't going to notice the difference in a SW who is having a little fun on the job, instead of throwing up in the back of her mouth and swallowing it. Few random gratuitous fotos from my most recent trip. I try not to repeat fotos but I don't look back. The urban landscape is Ground Zero, surprisingly beautiful, perhaps contrary to the mental image painted by some for how "seedy" and dangerous it is.

One part of all of this is cultural. Aside from the P4P angle, it's ingrained in most of the girls to not put a man down. It doesn't matter how old, fat or ugly you are, they aren't going to say it to you. Even if you tell them you're old, fat or ugly (with the evidence right in front of their face, they'll disagree. It's a sign that they consider you more than just a customer if they can joke with you about your shortcomings.
