Easier said than done transferring US Dollars into Colombia via Allianza, when I opened my account with them I had to be vetted in person and bring copies of my USA tax returns. And than the transferring of USD into Colombia can get quite involved as well depending on the amount and what the monies are to be used for which has strict government controls and documentation requirements. A better option would be if you could open a Bancolombia bank account somehow when your in Colombia, and then withdraw funds using ATM machines and make cash deposits into your Bancolombia account when the exchange rate is good when your in Country.

Prior to the beginning of the Pandemic when the exchange rate was over 4100 COP to the USD, I was withdrawing money everyday using two ATM cards and making cash deposits into my Bancolombia account and getting as good a rate as Allianza was offering with no paperwork / attorneys involved which I posted about at the time.

Maybe somebody else has figured out how to get in on on a good exchange rate while out of the Country but I haven't heard of it as yet.

I ordered a debit card from Wise, I'm not 100% sure how it works yet, but I will find out on my next visit, their website says you order a card and buy cop or any currency at great rates.

Whilst at home in USA, I just sent someone in Moscow $500 usd thru their website it was less than $10 usd, that's less than 2%.

While leaving a restaurant in Sabeneta, I noticed that Mayorista Barrio was on the way back the my hotel and that there was some street action. The updated list says that the best time is around 10 pm. It was about 6:30 pm and my Uber driver insisted on telling me how dangerous the area was. I've only read bad things about centro so far but, since I'm solo and had this guy in my ear I decided to take it in to my hotel. I did however see some action starting to brew. There were at least 8 girls in and around the bars on the strip. Any thoughts guys? This is my last night and if love to try it if it's possible to do so safely. The driver tried to take me to Face II.

Is it a good idea to bring your own bottle of Tequila, Vodca ect. From Duty Free or is it not worth the hassle because you can get it cheaper in Colombia? And I know everyone likes different drinks but what is a good go to drink for Colombians?

I was told that flights are being cancelled left and right. Are there any other people effected by the airline protests going on. I read on the Bogot page this persons' Medellin flight was cancelled so he switched to Bogot flight and was fine. That's a cool trick to have in my bag as I watch these cancelations come up.

Shawn, I think you are talking about Spirit Air cancellations, and they are not protest driven.

The airline canceled a whopping 61% of its Tuesday flights and 42% of its Monday flights, according to FlightAware.

And I am flying Spirit to Colombia in a few days. Hope they get their shit together before then.

What airline protest are you talking about? I just took a look at flighttracker.com and only a couple delays and cancelations in the last few days to MDE, but that is most likely normal. I am flying from Houston to FLL and then to MDE late next week and I am hoping all goes well. I am flying Sprit for the first time and have my fingers crossed as I know they had a bunch of delays and cancelations nationwide last weekend and earlier this week.
