Best bet is to have her bring her cedula and then look at it yourself and make sure she checks out. If she really did forget it, go back and get it, if she wants the money that bad she'll go get it. And if she was lying about forgetting it and doesn't have it, well that is a red flag.

For a foreigner with a Passport, the Hotel will look in your Passport at the entry stamp to verify you were issued a "tourist visa" , and based on that you are exempt and should not have to pay the 19% and it should be refunded and or not charged.
Up until January of this year the 19% VAT had been waived since the Pandemic. I also think some Hotels might collect the 19% tax, make photo copies of the foreigners Passport and date of entry stamp as proof for DIAN "the Colombian IRS " and pocket the money from unsuspecting tourists.
Regardless, if your a foreigner and your Passport stamp identifies you as entering on a tourist visa your exempt from paying the 19% IVA.
This also holds true for purchases you make in the Country and bring home, but I don't know the rules about this, but do know there is a tax refund office at the Rio Negro airport where you present your documentation and are issued a refund, but again I don't know how it works there, but have seen the office there.
I'm sure there are other board members here who know more about this.

Posts: 571Bringing a girl to your hotel room
It is sound advice to take a girl the first time to a short time hotel. I would not disagree with that. But I feel that if you stay in a hotel or Airbnb with security, it should be fine. I like being in my hotel room because it is comfortable and I have already paid for it. This is my fourth trip and I have always taking the girls back to my hotel room. So far, there have been no problems and nothing is missing from my room. It is true that it is more risky than taking her to a short-term hotel but there are a lot of benefits to having sex in your room. It's just a more relaxing environment for you. I also have snacks and drinks for the girls in my hotel room. But I am not a big fan of drinking with the girls. There is no reason to have an open bottle or drink in your glass laying around where there is the possibility the girl can put something in your drink when you are not looking or in the bathroom. I just drink from a bottle of water from the refrigerator where I have several bottles of water on the shelf.
I also like to screen out girls on Facebook. With a girls postings on Facebook, you can get a general idea of the type of girl she is. I'm usually suspicious of a Facebook profile set up exclusively for business.
I would agree that the safest path is seeing girls at the casas. No way that the girls are robbing or drugging you at the casas because they have a reputation to protect. Hotel M and taking girls from their bar is also a safe bet because hotel M knows who the girls are at the bar.
There are ways to stay safe be in Medellin and decrease the probability of being drugged and robbed. You just have to be aware of your surroundings and not take excessive risks.
I would also warn guys about underaged girls. They are on the streets and on line. The possibility of being in prison and the consequences always makes me very paranoid about making sure that the girl can prove that she is 18. That is one of the advantages of staying in the hotel that checks ID. The hotel also does not want underaged girls in the hotel so they will reject identification cards that look fake. You may be a bit sad but it is better for you that you are not seeing that girl. If you were to take that girl to a short-term hotel, they will not check her identification card.
Stay safe and have fun. I'm still in Medellin now and so far things are going well without any problems. I'd like to try to keep it that way.
I did meet a few guys from ISG and everyone seems cool. I have not met any of the flamers on ISG.

Hi.
I am trying to book Hotel Dorado.
I am using Agoda as they have cheapest rate.
It's 37 dollars over night.
I go thru everything then it adds the 19% tax.
What advice on this can anyone give.
First time using Agoda.
It's for May 2ND to May 8TH.
Sureman.

Posts: 720Stay away from vennies and try to control their behaviour at the start of session
I think the best advice I can give to any punters new and experienced ones about the girls from Parque Llleras and the surrounding clubs, especially with the Vennies, maintain control of the situation. The minute they are in your room you have to take control of the situation and show them you are in charge. Many will get on the phone or start checking their messages half of the evening or start doing their Tusi thing, so be polite but firm and put them in their place. It's a way women test men and you have to show that you can control them. Then they melt for you. You don't want a situation where she is sucking your dick while text somebody or checking her Instagram story. It reminds me of a scene in one American movie where a prostitute was smoking out the window while checking her watch. Some of these girls come from the schools of the hard knocks and the lowest backgrounds straight from the streets, especially the Vennies can be disgusting, you will notice them spitting and acting like street dogs.
If you don't want everything covered discuss everything up front. If you ask her to stay overnight, be specific about the time in the morning. Sometimes you will meet a nice and young paisa but for the most part I advice you to establish who's in control and what the expectations are and you will have a more fun experience.

Posts: 1173A lot of mistakes by the previous poster. Number one, if you are using seeking or tinder, it's a 20.00 meet you for coffee fee. That's a lot of money in Medellin to just have coffee and take Uber. If she says no way, she wants the whole 125 to 150 bucks, you walk. Don't get attached to these pictures on a screen. Delete her immediately. No negotiation. Second, if you like her in person you can take her to a hourly place to avoid being drugged in your hotel. Only bring girls to your hotel that you have slept with or slept with in a casa or strip club. Even then you have to have a good feel for the girl. I have never had a problem with a Colombian girl coming to my hotel after sleeping with them. I know if we vibed or not. Only in Tijuana can you have an unknown escort come to your hotel and not worry about it. The reputable agencies have done the work for you. Colombia and Brazil is No Way Jose on a stranger from the internet coming in your room. Follow those rules and you should be fine.

You should have either insisted she go back and get it or had declined her service. Not sure what type of hotel or airbnb you are staying at but most hotels will demand to see a cedula especially if there is any doubt as to the chica's age.

There's definitely a lot more happening in Poblado. There are more clubs, bars and restaurants. I probably have seen more gringos in the first hour walking around Poblado than in 5 days in Laureles. My last trip was spent entirely in Laureles and I do miss Poblado. A lot more of the service staff also speak English here in Poblado. The gringos are almost all Americans based on the accent that I'm hearing. I do see some attractive street walkers in Poblado as opposed to none in Laureles. There are also a lot of young gringos hang out here. I like the layout of some of the bars here in Poblado. I continued just to see Facebook girls so I can't tell you about the quality of the girls at the bars or walking the streets. I do see that one advantage is that they are here already so you don't have to pay a transport cost and you don't have to wait on them. That is definitely a benefit. Also you get to check them out in person.
I still have a few days here in Medellin but my trip is coming to a close. So far I have been having a good time and have not been drugged or robbed yet but there are still a few days left. I was even staying in an Abnb with no security for a few days. I would not recommend that for newbies.
