I will be attending the Medellin tango festival the week of June 20th and having some fun on the side (hehe). My usual haunts are Buenos Aires, Toronto, and lately Tijuana. This will be my first visit to Colombia and Medellin. Plane arrives into MDE at 0100 hrs. Is it safe to take a taxi from the airport to the downtown area at this hour? Any tango aficionados on this board that reside in Medellin?

I just came back from the Mansion and from my experience it's not really the best place for large groups of guys traveling together. I've seen groups of 5 to 6 guys drop by several times on my trips. Usually they stay in the Castillo because that's where there's rooms available for that many. They rarely ever hang out by the pool or in the Cueva since they've always got group stuff planned like strip clubs or casas. And when they do drop by, there are never really enough girls that all of them find something they like. Sometimes a couple pull and the rest leave. Other times they all leave without pulling because the guys that did find girls they liked don't want to ditch the group.

What usually happens is that they put out the call that a lot of guys are staying at the Mansion so more girls come over. Lots of girls hanging out and the group of guys is nowhere to be seen. After a few hours, some of the girls get bored and leave. So it ends up being kind of a shit night for both the girls and the group of guys. I'm doing great because I'm hanging in the Cueva all night and get the pick of the larger than usual number of girls. But lots of girls go home empty handed and when the group of guys do finally show up at 11 pm, there's not much choice in girls left so they leave frustrated.

For larger groups, I think getting an apartment and getting in touch with some girls who can set stuff up for you might work better.

I was looking at the Mansion as some of our guys would like to use their service to jump start their trip but it seems unlikely that we'll be able to acquire six rooms at the same time. We'll see, Medellin has plenty of good options so far. And I'm sure we'll get the party started once we reach Medellin.

IMO with a group of six guys, there's not much reason to stay at the Mansion. The main draw of the Mansion is that you have fellow hobbyists to hang with. This is irrelevant for you. Yes, the Mansion could help you get a running start; but if you read this website and do your own research, you can achieve that "running start" on your own.

If you really want to stay in a Gringo-oriented place, I second Geolopes suggestion of staying at el Castillo.

I keep hearing guys down for a week or less talk about non-pros. Unless you look like Enrique Iglesias, that's not likely to happen. And the chances go from low to zero if you don't speak Spanish. Now if you're here for several weeks, that's a completely different story.

OK so this is my 7th post I believe. As Soldier alluded the Mansion is probably your best bet. As a group you might do better staying at Mansion #2 up the street as its quieter and the orgy girls might feel it more discreet to go there. Breakfast is served there too as part of the room cost. Your group would be welcome to hang out and party at Mansion #1's "La Cuava" bar and you can come and go to both locations no problem. The pool at Mansion #2 is much better and the place has a more private and discreet feel to it than #1. First of all I am going to give you some sound advice which others have also posted to you. Picking up non working girls is going to be difficult unless you are fluent in Spanish. Second thing is most of the girls go out in groups and usually have guys with them who might be boyfriends or just friends, and it is up to you to have to distinguish the difference without getting into a confrontation. Also you being of Indian descent could be a hindrous to you.

Bad news- when in August are you planning? The Feria de flores usually takes up the around the first ten days of August and Medellin is packed and much more expensive during that time so if your trip is then you need reservations prontico. As slam replied earlier and someone else as well. Who speaks Spanish in your group? Speaks it decently not just a few hola and como estas stuff. Spanish speaking will be very helpful in trying to pull together some kind of wild orgy plan. If someone does speak Spanish finding a main girl to coordinate all the other girls is the way to go. But the challenge will be where are you going to find this girl. I am also going to have to lay some honest truth on you, the guys that think they have game better speak Spanish if they think they are going to walk into a club and are going to pull freebies. To start, while you could probably do Medellin for two weeks and not get bored, I'd suggest using the cheap interstate airfare prices to possibly hit another spot like Cali or (for less mongering-intensive purposes) Cartagena. I've never been to Panama City outside of the airport so I can't comment there, but other friends in the hobby tell me it's a mix of girls from Central America and the Northern coast of South America, but noticably more expensive and predominantly Colombianas, so why bother?

Secondly, I hope that anyone looking to pick up local girls is at least conversationally adept in Spanish, as you'll need to be in order to build rapport with these girls. Unlike say Costa Rica or the Dominican, broken English isn't even a giant likelihood if she's not university-age. The less Spanish you have, the more external motivating factors (looks, age, how much money you have on deck) will matter.

As to your desire for a "fuck party", just game up or purchase the service of as many women as you need, use that Spanish I sure hope you have to negotiate what you do and don't want, and strongly consider booking another room (either at your hotel or another) that won't have everyone's shit in it.
