Breakfast in Medellin sucks. So far I have eaten in Nutibara, Dorado La 70 and Vivre. All breakfasts are equally bad and the latter 2 hotels are rated 4. 5 of 5 at google reviews. Those people that did the reviews must never have tried a breakfast in an European hotel. They will also complain if you go a second round to get more food. In Europe it is always buffet style. How much do I need to spend on a hotel in Medellin to get same quality breakfast as in Europe with buffet style? In Brazil the hotel breakfasts are much better then here and it is buffet style and that is hotel for half price of what I pay here.

By the way noone mentioned hotel Vivre in the thread so I did not know if it was girl friendly but they confirmed and they also accept Venezuelan ID cards.

You might want to give that another day. The xe.com mid market live tracking has the dollar well north of 4200 as of midday. It is trending higher against the dollar since trading opened today:

Up until the election the exchange rate has been somewhat like a gyro going up and then dropping down 300-400 Pesos within a few weeks. When the Peso exchange rate hit 4,000 I hit the ATM's and then it dropped back down. When the Peso exchange rate hit 4,100 I hit the ATM's and then it dropped. So now that the exchange rate is basically at 4,200 I'm going to hit the ATM' s and see how it goes.

I was thinking about going to Columbia, because obviously it's super hot right now. I get there are a lot of NOOBS going to Columbia, but it's probably because tickets to Asia are so expensive right now. Therefore, there is a Columbia proliferation.

You can sneak girls in via the Oviedo Mall entrance but you have to be discrete and the girl can't be dressed too provocatively. That entrance is closed at night.

Agree. This has been my experience as well. Given the frequent rain I often have an umbrella and that helps with bringing the girls in. I have had them call the room a couple times about it, but not since Covid (assume they're more desperate for guests).

I only use Facebook for hookups, so can't give any advice about agencies. At the airport, after baggage claim, there are a couple of money exchange booths. Someone reported here last week they received 4000/1 COP / USD at one of the booths. That was very good because the ATM rate that day was not much more than 4000/1. When you exit the baggage claim area, there are some doors to the right to the sidewalk where you can get an official airport taxi. They are white taxis. I think the fare to Medellin is 90,000. It may be 80,000, but it is set by the government, so don't get scammed. Verify the fare with the driver before leaving the airport. The tolls are included in the fare. I have heard that some drivers try to charge extra for the tolls. If you go, enjoy your trip. The robberies and drugs are not a big problem, more hype than actual. Use common sense.

The white taxi fare is 90,000 COP including the toll into Poblado and these drivers won't try to charge or say the toll is not included.

However, guys need to be careful upon exiting the airport as many other drivers, like Uber, and others will be looking for riders back into Medellin, and they will quote 90,000, but when in the car some may tell you the toll is not included as you mentioned.

I had a friend who I told to only go with a white taxi, he didn't listen, and guess what, he paid 90,000 plus the toll which is approximately 18,600 COP.

I always use the white taxis for another reason, as their vehicles generally are newer and larger than the yellow taxis that provide transport into town, and their fare is fixed at 90,000 as well including the toll.

You conservatives, Colombia is transforming. A few months ago abortion was legalized up to the 24th week (This in a very Catholic country). A couple of weeks ago, they elected a far leftist President. Today I'm hearing all this noise and yikes! There is a gay pride parade marching up la 70 in Laureles, complete with floats, a marching band and baton twirlers. There must be several thousand people and that's not counting all the crowd.

Just recently a post from 5 years ago popped up on my Facebook memories about a Pride parade. It was headed west on Calle 45 towards La 70. Not sure about the rest of the route, but it was a big parade.

Taxis at the airport outside terminal 2 domestic to the left are plenty, the white ones are good and 90 mil to Medellin is a standard price, a lot of guys trying to get you to ride with them outside Terminal 1 international arrivals, pass on those.

If you want cheaper but quick rides to MDE from the airport, walk a couple hundred feet further away from the terminal's taxi stand, you will find a couple shared taxis, collectivos, waiting. They take 4 passengers to Commercial Center San Diego for 20 M cops or $5 each. That plaza looks like a transportation hub. Most people get off there.

From there he drove me to my hotel way down near Santa Fe mall for another 20 M Cops. He said the rides never exceed 40 M Cops for any one.

There are also buses to hotel Nutibara / Plaza Botero, but I am not sure how long the wait.

There is more left of Stonehenge than there is of the Plaza Botero fence. I miss it in unanticipated ways. Now that only a few pieces of it are left, the street vendors are again clogging the area beneath the metro overpass from the Nutibara all the way to Parque Berrio. When the fence was still there they were made to stay on the street side of it. It's not fun dodging speeding bicycles and inattentive pedestrians that dart out from behind the racks of junk. I also miss the entertainment of watching undercover police point out people for the uniform agents to pat down. Mostly though it's like it was never there to begin with. Time marches on.

I will start this combo later this week and will give it a try. I'll have almost 2 months to try it in a sort of lab / controlled environment. I'll report back in a few weeks. I will need this when I visit Medellin for the first time in September.
