Personally I almost never eat the hotel free breakfasts. If I am staying at a hotel and want a really good breakfast, I go to a restaurant famous for their breakfasts. Better yet, I stay at an apartment and cook whatever breakfast I want. Hotel breakfasts are an afterthought, a cheap offering for people who aren't too picky and are willing to sacrifice quality for convenience.
The most important thing is that Colombia is not in Europe and it's not in Brazil. If you want a European or Brazilian hotel breakfast, you should have gone to Europe or Brazil.
You're probably going to be disappointed at the scarcity of tall, blonde, eastern European hookers too.

Shortly before my work schedule change, I was informed of the change and that I would be off for 5 days due to the change and the holiday. First thought; a quick trip to Medellin. However with flight schedules, I would lose a day in travel time. Next I considered having my girlfriend* meet me in Miami, but again flight schedules weren't cooperating. Finally, I decided it was best to bring her to me. I was able to get her into town 6 hours before my final, short, work trip. That gave us 6 days together, instead of 4.
Some of you are probably thinking I made a huge, expensive mistake, and you may be right. Certainly it was expensive. A $30 hotel room in Medellin costs $120 or more here. Add food, parking and gas and it's going to cost a lot. In my eyes, no mistake was made, because I enjoyed myself.
Except for a couple of nasty looks, one from a woman who couldn't arouse a blind man who had abstained from sex for 10 years, and another from a guy who was offended that a girl would choose me over his gym muscles and hair plugs, everything went great. Here are some of the things which she really enjoyed:
1. The food. From the breaded tenderloin sandwich which is our response to bandeja paisa, to biscuits and gravy, to the Chicago deep dish pizza from an iconic restaurant in downtown Chicago, to the fresh Wisconsin cheese curds, she loved it all.
2. The Soak City Waterpark at King's Island. Unfortunately, the only bikini she brought was the Wicked Weasel I bought her earlier this year. Since the sight of her in that wet bikini would have caused 2 stampedes, 1 of women dragging their children away and 1 of men getting a closer look, I had to buy something a bit more appropriate for the area.
3. Chicago. Downtown Chicago is one of my favorite places. The view from the top of Willis tower, the architecture, the view of Lake Michigan from Millennium Park and of course the food, make it a great place to take a girl, if the weather cooperates.
4. The scenery and especially my house. We did a lot of driving between cities and this is a good time of year for that. My house is in the country, surrounded by fields and trees, muy tranquilo. Plus there are cows next door, who were curious about the pretty girl talking to them in Spanish.
5. The climate. When we were driving it was mostly sunny. At the Waterpark it was hot, but with a nice breeze. In Chicago it was a cool, cloudy day, which made walking around comfortable. Wisconsin (which ended up being just a place to sleep, eat and buy fresh cheese curds) was sunny and comfortable. Only the county fair we visited was a bit muggy, but a light sprinkle helped.
6. The people. Most people were nice and friendly and several women remarked on how beautiful she was (women's opinion of beauty is more reliable than men's). Even our conversations in Spanish didn't raise any eyebrows.
7. Her favorite experience was watching the most American of all pastimes; a demolition derby. Willful destruction for entertainment purposes, you can't get more American than that. It hadn't been on my list of things to do, but it just happened to be scheduled at the county fair most convenient to my home.
Every place has certain habits which are ingrained in the population. How hard are these habits to break?
1. Putting toilet paper in the trash can. I only had to mention once that the toilet paper went into the toilet and she had no problem altering her behavior.
2. Closing car doors gently. No luck with this one. Even with my example to follow and being told several times, she couldn't bring herself to close the door firmly.
In my eyes, it was a great experience and I'll probably do it again.

Breakfast in Medellin sucks. So far I have eaten in Nutibara, Dorado La 70 and Vivre. All breakfasts are equally bad and the latter 2 hotels are rated 4. 5 of 5 at google reviews. Those people that did the reviews must never have tried a breakfast in an European hotel. They will also complain if you go a second round to get more food. In Europe it is always buffet style. How much do I need to spend on a hotel in Medellin to get same quality breakfast as in Europe with buffet style? In Brazil the hotel breakfasts are much better then here and it is buffet style and that is hotel for half price of what I pay here.
By the way noone mentioned hotel Vivre in the thread so I did not know if it was girl friendly but they confirmed and they also accept Venezuelan ID cards.

Posts: 3950You might want to give that another day. The xe.com mid market live tracking has the dollar well north of 4200 as of midday. It is trending higher against the dollar since trading opened today:
1 USD = 4,261.06 COP.

Almost at 4,200 COP to the USD today according to the published visa exchange rate. Going to hit the ATM's today, and might be kicking myself if the rate goes up to 4,300 COP in the next week. Up until the election the exchange rate has been somewhat like a gyro going up and then dropping down 300-400 Pesos within a few weeks. When the Peso exchange rate hit 4,000 I hit the ATM's and then it dropped back down. When the Peso exchange rate hit 4,100 I hit the ATM's and then it dropped. So now that the exchange rate is basically at 4,200 I'm going to hit the ATM' s and see how it goes.

I had a friend who I told to only go with a white taxi, he didn't listen, and guess what, he paid 90,000 plus the toll which is approximately 18,600 COP.
I always use the white taxis for another reason, as their vehicles generally are newer and larger than the yellow taxis that provide transport into town, and their fare is fixed at 90,000 as well including the toll.

I'm on the ground now since late night Saturday. I arrived to La 70 and the first thing I noticed is how loud and festive everywhere is. Saw a lot of gringo mongers hanging around and talking to girls.
I connected through BOG to MDE, if you book at least a 2 hour layover you'll make it, I almost didn't because a delay out of the US and a long immigration line at BOG, but not checking in bags always helps.
I was dog tired and it was past 1 am, so I tried to sleep and even with noise I knocked out LOL.
Yesterday I got acquainted with my surroundings with the assistance of fellow monger Nounce, walked around a lot and bought some necessary items, except I forgot to buy condoms. More on that later.
I started the Facebook game about three weeks ago, and for me at least it hasn't been easy. I created a monger profile and photoshopped my picture so I could have a headshot, still looks real enough though. At first I requested a bunch of friends, and after getting suspended for a day or so I posted some BS comments and interacted a bit with other profiles and I was good to go again. I was able to add about 200 friends. I reached out to a lot of prospects but nothing too conclusive for a date, except for one girl I lined up for yesterday. Others we didn't set anything and left things in the air.
My date arrived, "Camila" (there are thousands of Camilas here). And boy was I pleasantly surprised. Better than I expected, natural tits and round ass, delicious lips with a pretty face, a fresh 20 year old. We settled down and she likes to talk a lot, I'm caressing her body and can't wait to get it on, so we put the Ron Medellin to the side and I offer her a shower. I'm waiting in the room and here she comes looking so good. We start the action and then I'm hit with the dreaded words, "where is the condon? FML I didn't buy any, remember? Well my dear fellows, unlike Brazil or Montreal, girls here don't bring them, I forgot that little detail. And she would not budge on going BBFS. So I should've paused and gone to buy some, but I gambled that I would be able to convince her with DATY and warm her up but nope. So she did some very generous BBBJ for about 20 min, then starting to kiss me with passion and it turned into DFK, which I was pleasantly surprised with, while she tried to finish me off with a hand job, but I resisted since I was hoping I could schedule another girl later (I failed LOL). I had her stop at some point and we cuddled. We spent about 2 hours together, she told me a lot about her (I'm fully bilingual in Spanish) until we kissed our goodbyes. 250 mil. I might see her again to finish making love.
Later I tried unsuccessfully to secure another date, I went outside to la 70 and saw a lot of people celebrating the parade and just having a good time, I really don't care which way people swing as long as everyone is in peace, respect and harmony is all that matters to me, and yesterday I was blown away how the vibe was harmonious and cool for everyone to enjoy, good times.
Today I'm so far 0-2 on competing dates with Facebook girls, it's crazy the amount of work and effort it's taking me to get them to show up. I have another appointment coming up, and while I drink a Club Colombia beer I hope I don't strike out. Tomorrow I move to Poblado, I might visit El Centro during the day to see what the deal is. I have a date with a semi pro at night, we'll see. I've had a few act like they're not prepagos.
Still on my TDL, visit casas, visit La Isla, stop by Gustos. I'm not very encouraged so far, hopefully my luck changes, but so far Brazil 1st, Montreal 2nd, Medellin far 3rd. Food is a bit bland here too, but coffee is great!
BTW, Google Fi works great here, and easy to pull cash from BBVA ATMs, no fee. Taxis at the airport outside terminal 2 domestic to the left are plenty, the white ones are good and 90 mil to Medellin is a standard price, a lot of guys trying to get you to ride with them outside Terminal 1 international arrivals, pass on those.
