Wake up early and I see that the US is restricting Europe flights for 30 days. Not good. I'm in some local WhatsApp groups I am in and people are at Costco right when they open, 30 minutes later, the line at the register goes to the far back of the store, around and back towards the register. People are saying its a 4-5 hours was to checkout.

I have a lot of supplies but I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to get a little more, but by Monday, when I am supposed to leave, the island will be bare bones. People are sending me photos of the local supermarket we all shop at and its already empty down to the shit nobody wants to eat. I immediately call Copa Airlines to change my flight.

Two days ago I called Copa to see what the cost is to change around noon. Got right through to an agent. Cost was $330 so I said, eh nah, I'll just wait until Monday, no big deal.

Today at 7 am, it took 40 minutes to get an agent because of high call volume. The agent said tons of people are canceling and changing flights. I ask for a flight for tomorrow and she tells me there are two window seats available on the itinerary I want, which has two legs. I ask to check biz class because on the way here, it was only a $300 upgrade. She tells me its $1000. I say no thank you, go book the two window seats. They're already gone, 2 minutes later!.

A few hours later, Puerto Rico declares a state of emergency and every single person arriving in Puerto Rico will be tested for coronavirus. Good thing I'm going tomorrow before this escalates any further. My petsitter was able to get me some more supplies but it took her all afternoon just to find 8 gallons of water.

Anyway, I pack up all my shit so that I can just chill tomorrow before heading to the airport. Junior11 and I decide to kick it again and I want to check out Tesoro Mall. Only people are banned, but if there are no people, I doubt the airline will fly. There would have to be enough US residents coming back to somewhat fill the plane. I think that will only affect people stuck in Europe, not in Colombia. In my opinion, new cases of the virus will be slowing in most countries.

I fly on Copa. They go through Panama, so there should always be flights.

You didn't specify where you live, so I am guessing the US. Trump's travel ban does not apply to US citizens and permanent residents. Since Colombia and other countries in South America have only a few cases of the virus, I don't think there will be a travel ban from there. My neighbors went to Medellin last Monday and will be returning to the US next Monday. They said they haven't had any travel issues.

On the local news today the Colombian President outlined measures they are starting to take to limit crowd sizes, sporting events, etc. By the time you show up in roughly ten days people could be in a panic with places shutting down, etc. But nobody really knows.

And getting a flight out, who knows, the Colombian Government might pull the plug on foreigners coming into the Country, which is exactly what Trump did with Europe as you mentioned.

Since you have never been to Medellin, and with what's going on in other Countries, like in the USA, you should wait for another time when things are back to normal, or whatever the "new normal" is going to be.

That's my advice to you not being an expert on much of anything, albeit others may disagree with this.
