The nicer the hotel the less guest friendly they are which others have posted a million times. That is the rule. Of course you can find the exception.

I have no idea where you came up with that. I have stayed at the nicest hotel in Laureles and it is guest friendly (Hotel Dorado la 70). I've also stayed at several others in Laureles that are a notch below.

(Hotel Egina, Hotel Asturias, Hotel Boliviarana.) all of which are guest friendly. Maybe you are talking about El Poblado places exclusively. But what Osteokot said is consistent with my experience in Laureles.

Obviously you need a guest friendly hotel, it can be close to El Centro or can be an easy taxi ride or Metro ride from El Centro, it doesn't really matter. People make a big deal about finding guest friendly hotels but honestly it's harder to find a hotel that is not guest friendly than one that is.

You want to be close to Ground Zero because that is where you will screen your girls initially.

If you are a disco and late night bar drinker than Centro is not the place to be. El Poblado is. I want to end my night somewhat near my accommodation especially if I get drunk or find a girl.

Transportation does matter. In the daytime you can go from El Poblado to Centro casas and Botero easy taking bus, metro, or taxi. But if you go the other way then things change. I believe the metro stops running at 11:00 pm and the buses stop even earlier. So if your are staying in Centro but want to party late in El Poblado you can take any transportation there but returning you will have to take a taxi (or Uber, Didi, etc.). The little details matter. I would like to visit El Poblado more often but hate dealing with taxis, especially late at night and if is raining they try to scam you on price.

I invested in a Dollar Store mirror for less than nine bucks. There were cheaper ones but this one was actually pretty nice without distortion and I'm going to hand it down to one of my novias when I leave on Wednesday.

The fotos are a small sample of the action you will get when a girl sees a mirror in your room including dancing with other girls. I did not ask any of these girls to pose for these shots, they did it on their own.

I claim they get moist and dewey inside from looking at themselves which puts them more in the mood, and improves their performance, jajajaja.

If you're just a wet mud hole fucker and this kind of stuff doesn't matter to you then forget about it which you probably have already done if you even read this far, jajajaja, perhaps I am delusional but I have this crazy idea that you can get a lot more bang for the buck, pun intended, with what should be a trivial amount of extra money for anybody who can afford to be here except maybe I do not have a good feel for the guys who are here on a shoestring budget. My point here is to give prospective visitors a little does of reality- many guys find Medellin to be fantastic but honestly speaking there are challenges that get glossed over. If you are looking for a point and shoot location that is set up specifically for you like most of south east Asia, this is not it. Like I said, even Brazil is more user friendly despite the language barrier there. I have yet to hear any refutations to the specific points I made.

Your points are valid. Medellin is not especially user friendly, and even much less so than Costa Rica. It's even quite spread out unless one is staying in Centro and concentrating on just the street.

It's also not a very GFE destination. Your typical puta wants to offer the bare bones experience, everything covered and limited if any normal foreplay like kissing. There's always exceptions to the rule, as you can glean some more friendly girls from FB, but this is hit and miss and requires work. Few in this venue work regularly.

The language barrier is also significant. Many locals seem to assume that all tourists are fluent in Spanish, and if they can manage to speak fast and loud enough that you'll eventually understand them. Jajaja.

I travel to Medellin only because as a Floridian it is close to me and much cheaper than Costa Rica. If the exchange rate ever reversed on us I'd rethink that decision. If I lived in Southern Cal I'd likely just run down to Tijuana. If I lived out west or even Canada I'd be looking much more to Asia.

You can buy a sim card in any Tigo Claro store / kiosk. You don't even need an ID. Very easy to get.

Horrible scene near ground zero this afternoon. Fir reasons no one could explain (I asked quite a few, including police) a Colombian guy tried to exit the Zona Rosa hotel through a fifth floor window and enter the building next door. He did not make it. He feel five stories and sustained only a minor leg injury. The really fucked up part is he fell on top of a 12 year old girl who was passing by below. The girl suffered horrific leg, wrist and arm injuries. She was treated on the scene and taken away in an ambulance. The walk job was carted off in the back of a police pick up. This happened only moments after I arrived at about 4 pm or so.

So, a total newb question. I have been building up a friends list on FB and there are 2 girls in particular that I would like to confirm some time with. I'm 99.9% sure they will spend time with me for money. But I'm unsure how to broach the subject. Just come out with cost / activities? I've build some decent conversation and rapport but unsure how best to transition things.

I found a good way to transition to this without outright saying are you a working girl is to say something like "why don't you come to mine one night and we can have a drink, talk and relax together, obviously I can help you with anything you need". I'm more accustomed to approaching normal / semi pro girls though (on dating websites) rather than facebook. Some girls you can be very straight, I've been way more direct but prefer the more gentle approach, don't know why.

This is absolutely true, most termas aren't really that big and there are only a handful of them. As far as freelance, you've basically got Mab's and Dolce Vita, which represents about 1/10 of the options of Llleras / Centro combined. There are a good amount of prives (casas).

One thing should be noted that although the scene is smaller, the number of gringo mongers is correspondingly small. As you say, if you took all the Medellin gringo mongers and dumped them in Copacabana it would be a nightmare. This is another reason I prefer Brazil.

Was in MDE mid September, saw a lot of girls, too much my eyes could handle. I was with the wife and kids and could not do anything.

Some notes:

*) MDE was a safe place. Try to stay in the crowdy places. A lot of police everywhere.

*) Uber works not all the time, install other apps such as: BEAT, EASY TAXI, CABIFY. You will always get scammed by the random yellow cabby picked on the street.

*) Centro. A lot of activity from 1200 hour till 2000 hour. Plenty plenty of girls around. Be aware that after 2000 hour, this location becomes sketchy. A lot of drug users and weird people on the scene.

*) Parque Lleras was a kewl and very safe place. Just sit in one of the bars and watch the action. A lot is happening. I spoke with a few girls and they were all asking 200 COP. You take them to your place or a hotel. You pay the cab and the hotel.

I plan to go back next in December and wanted to know the following:

*) girls in Centro. How you can know they bring you safe to the hotel to finish the job and not set you up to get robbed?
