As if someone above turned on a faucet and I have never been in a harder thicker rainstorm than one of these, including Florida hurricanes. I am not a meteorologist, but my theory is the rainclouds build up pressure on the far ascending sides of the mountains until they are read to burst, and then when the rain clouds hit the peaks and cross over into the valley, the sudden drop in pressure dumps the water. These storms always start at the top of a mountain and then work there way down the side of the mountain toward the city and are usually depleted by the time they get to the bottom of the valley. Lot of flash flooding and some significant mudslides on the mountains, and it will shut down cable cars.

I always heard there were two rainy seasons in Medellin (MDE), and your graph does show a bimodal distribution and we are in one now. I grew up in Florida and the rainy seasons here' are no worse. You can generally dodge the rain and not alter your activities. It's NOT like Thailand where you will be wading up to your mid-shins in water.

What I love about the rainy season now is it seems like at least half if not more of the rain falls during the nighttime. I am not saying it's the only place in the world like that but I have never seen it anywhere else. I did a shallow dive on the InterWeb and I could not find any data that showed rainfall per day by the hour. Who doesn't like to sleep with windows open and listening to rain? And when you wake up, everything is freshly washed.

They do have a strange awesome phenomenon here I call faucet storms if you look at the foto you can see why. I got caught in one of those deluges. Sat in out in a bar for about an hour. The overhead cable cars would not run afterwards, and there was some non lethal mudslides. And I have been on one side of the valley with the sun shining and watching a faucet storm on the other side and never got wet. Anyone you talk to on phone here will tell you if it's raining first thing in the convo sort of like an early warning system. Today, I spoke to two people who told me it was raining hard where they were and not a drop where I was. Than at dinner a few hours later eating outside under cover like most restaurants here, it poured hard, and we had to wait 20 minutes before we trotted back to the hotel.

In summary, the two features about rain that stand out to me in MDE are the faucet storms, and the nightime rains. Ostee Out.

I'm not Asian but have a friend who is Asian that spends six months a year here. You will most probably be a "tourist attraction" for most Colombians as it would be very rare for them to encounter Asians in Medellin.

With that being said, you will actually be a babe magnet, especially in El Centro, which could be very good in some ways.

Just curious. Why would it be especially good in Centro? Is it because it's mostly Venezuelans and they're not used to seeing Asian people?

But the psychology behind mongering is pretty much the same whether you are in Medellin, Banjul, Christchurch, Sparks, Munich, or Pattaya. I see the lifestyle you convey in your posts as one of the higher planes of hedonism. Hung out in El Centro for a bit. Checked out Botero and the area around Vera Cruz. Carrera 53 and Calle 51 and vicinity. It was lively, seen a few older gringos entertaining very young chicas playing loud music and drinking. The area is quite a spectacle. Many SWs were below average and a few doable. I like Santa Fe in Bogota better. I posted up in a bar that plays Vallenato and Mexican music. I had the bartender play a few songs that I liked. Grabbed some Pilsens Grandes for 5 k and people watched the streets. Someone needs to get the homeless lady with the missing leg below the knee some crutches. She needs a better way to get around. Long ways to go to be retired, but def working on early retirement. Job is semi-remote in a way. My best advice to learning Spanish is to practice with anyone and everyone you can. I can't really recommend any apps or programs since I don't have much experience using them. But yeah, locals are at first shocked at how I can speak Spanish, and once they know I can speak like them with all the slang and mannerisms, it's game over. They like this chino paisa parcero right away haha, and the Bello girls are just easy pickings. Non pro action is for the taking. There's lots of pros that live in Bello of course, but they're a very small fraction of the population. Thanks, once you drive by the Niquia metro station, there's a bunch of high rise buildings in that area. You'll def be able to spot mine. I love the area I'm in. In the last 6 months that I've stayed in Colombia, I've spent about 5 of them in Bello. Yes, Bello gets a bad rep for being dangerous and such. That's fine with me, even if Medellin gets overrun by gringos, Bello will still be a no go zone for most of them. Panama City is too expensive and use the USD. And not interested much in Bogota.

Hey fellow Asian. So I'm a couple years behind you (34 to be exact). As an Asian, has your race played a factor at all in your interactions with the chicas, either positively or negatively?
