Many other rooftops appeal to upscale customers, like Sky Bar, I visited the place and thought it was a nice spot to bring a date. Restaurants are plenty as well, Rocoto was a good pick for Peruvian food, I saw some mongers or sugar daddies catering to their girls there. Poblado is the whole area including Provenza, Manila, Parque Lleras, etc. It is one of the comunas of Medellin, and covers area with a population of over 100,000. That only matters when you are trying to find something, or give a cabbie an address or direct him to somewhere. Saying Poblado is a bit too general for that, for example. Parque Lleras includes the area around the physical park, and a couple of blocks on one side, and taxis will generally drop you off somewhere or anywhere in that area unless you can tell them specifically what part.

That is not correct. I have been to Medellin three times this year. Each time the bus from the airport went through the tunnel. One time, going to the airport, the bus took the long route because of an accident in the tunnel.

Of the thousands of bus trips made from the airport to MDE each year, your three examples speaks for all of them.

A new lower strata development went on the market with about 30 lots, and they were snatched up in three days. I am using the term "development" loosely. Folks are already out there building their own structures with their own hands inside the taped off lots. She discovered the lot by line of sight because it is very near the mountainside mega-apartment complex where she lives now and grew up. By a fluke, we got the best lot in the development even though there were only four left by the time she bought it.

The other buyers were scared off by a little ramshackle cinder block structure that was already on our postage stamp sized lot. But in fact, we are on the dramatic high point, and at the entrance, or what would be called "Lot #1" of the development, if you were comparing this to the US of A, except it's not comparable, jaja. To raze the little cement box that is already there will take next to nothing in time and effort. She did great.

Catgirl is already calling this build our "second house on the mountain" referring to the ongoing construction of our house in the country on top of the mountain, three hours north of Medellin. Except this time, our "mountain" is a little bump of land in San Cristobal, about a 15 minute moto ride from where I am staying now at The Nutti in El Centro.

This is not going to be the honey-haven for all my novias that I initially thought, because there simply is not enough space to build a structure that size. But we are going to build up, two stories, and if all goes as "planned" which it rarely does in Medellin, this house could be completed by the time or during my next return trip to Magic Medellin. This is not Poblado or Laureles, this is one of the poorer agricultural sections of Medellin, and I love it.

Make sure the doorway is big enough for your head to go through! Seriously, your girl did awesome and seems to me like besides all the other things, this is really what life is all about. The tunnel is the standard route. From time to time the tunnel may be closed for various reasons, including accidents as another poster mentioned. This applies to cabs, ubers, and all other modes of transport.

From the airport to MDE, through 3 different tunnels, some with stops, including transfer stops along the way, others not. One time, the bus driver even altered the route to get me The Nutti when I was the last one on the bus, mighty nice of him. I know when people say "the tunnel" which one they mean, but that it not the only tunnel.

No one here, including me, has ever posted a total accurate grasp or picture of what goes on with transportation from the airport to MDE. As usual, it's a lot harder to know what you don't know, than what you do know. We all like to pretend we know more than we do.

But for the record, I am taking everyone off my Ignore List, which I was using mainly as a time management device to keep me from getting sucked into the meaningless circular debates that are so prevalent here. I had half the frequent fliers here on my Ignore List and it was getting silly when I logged on sometimes and saw so many blocked messages.

I have decided for now, that's my issue and not anyone else's. I need to learn more self-control, so I will try to turn this into a positive.

Airbnb and no issues. Each host might have different rules, check when booking.

I love Cartagena. The mongering is unreal, and the historical sites and culture are amazing, but I am looking for a new experience. Which city offers the best mongering. Bogota or Medellin?

If you can put up with the weather and the altitude, imo Bogota is the best option; tons of girls and strip clubs; and of course the famous "santa fe"; I never been to Barraquilla though.

They still exist, but maybe not at 1:45 am. The fare is now 90 mil. The airport bus should have been running at that time.

Another option (which I used before the pandemic) is a "colectivo" (shared white taxi). Price was 30 mil but probably has increased a bit. The driver drops you at the San Diego Mall, at the base of the road from the airport tunnel. There are taxis nearby to get you to your destination, though I negotiated with the colectivo driver to take me to Laureles for around the standard taxi rate. I spent 9 days in Medellin and overall had a great time. Transportation to / from the airport was 90 mil plus 10 mil tip. Book through https://acoataxiaeropuerto.com.co. The ride to Laureles or Poblado was about 30 min, beautiful view getting into the city.

Laureles area is more popular with locals, the area by La 70 is party town. If you want an area that's a bit quieter look for Segundo Parque de Laureles, better restaurants are found there too. I prefer a more upscale environment so I only stayed in San Peter 2 days, but it was clean and safe, but noisy and small for my taste.

Girls, I only made picks from Facebook and Instagram. It's a lot of work but if you score gold you can score big. I'm sure casas and centro are good alternatives, I didn't partake on either since my preferences are towards good accommodations and convenience, YMMV. My advice on Facebook is sweet talk a little, but find a way to be clear on what you want. Some of my initial lines were "Qu tal? La quiero conocer. Estoy en Poblado". If the girls ask what you want, I said "quiero una cita contigo", or "quiero que pasemos un rato disfrutando". If you need to clarify "quiero negocio". They know what you want from there. If all fails, say "cuanto quieres por la cita". If you need to back track invite them to a coffee.

I was shooting for a certain quality of girl, and I got what I wanted. Camila #4 was great. But I found a couple more that topped her. I also saw a girl posted here before, Kate Zuluaga. I think knowing Spanish certainly helps but it's not a deal breaker, at least if you stay in Poblado. For me it sure helped being bilingual, but when I compared to being in Brazil did it really help make the experience that much better? I don't think so.

ATMs I used BBVA & BancoColombia, BancoColombia is easier to find everywhere although it charges 22 mil. I particularly cared more about convenience once again, not conversion or fees.

Lastly, safety. In my view, while outside the Airport or In La 70, or Poblado, day or night, I never felt unsafe and no one ever made me feel threatened. I didn't go to El Centro so I'm not the one to ask there. Transportation I used Uber and walked and again, no issue. There are cops everywhere and they don't bother you, I imagine that could change if you like attracting trouble.

I felt sadness when I headed to my departing flight back to the US, not just because the cheap action, but because the place has a magical power. I'm not sure if it's the Guacamayas flying freely in the sky or the great weather I experienced, could be that all girls smile and smell great, the music making you want to dance or the great coffee waking you up. I can see how this land has inspired great literature, see Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I will be back.
