I am coming to Medellin in about 10 days after staying in Bogota for 3 days. I have been reading through the forum and have a fair idea of where to go and what to do. However, a few questions for you:

1) What do the girls like to drink in Medellin? Tequila / Vodka / Whiskey / Cognac? I am planning to throw in a bottle or two in my checked baggage to share with the girls.

2) Is it better to get Colombian pesos in the US itself? I checked today and the rate they gave me was $1= COP 3388. I checked on the currency exchange websites and the rate was $1= COP 3775. Would you recommend that I bring all cash with me from the US itself or is it better to withdraw from the ATM's there? I bank with Chase, Bank of America & Citibank. I am sure they will charge fees for all transactions.

3) Is it safe to rent a car and drive in and around Medellin? I plan to take my girl and explore the nature at our own pace. We plan to drive to Guatape and Jardin.

4) I know Medellin is known for it's emeralds. Has anyone bought any emerald jewelry for their SO? Any places that you recommend to buy from in Medllin or Bogota?

5) How would you rate the quality of chica's in Park Lleras compared to the FB chica's? Which one would you say is of higher quality? I have been in contact with a few FB chicas who are eager to meet.

You say no the first time she asks. I would assert that 9 times out of 10 chicks are not even asking, but it is the dude that is volunteering and in some cases pushing shit off on chicks. I have seen it too many times when the girl has said I did not ask him for this.

I think Tass deserves to be thanked for writing what happened to him in el centro. The reality is el centro is dangerous for anyone. Horrible scene near ground zero this afternoon. Fir reasons no one could explain (I asked quite a few, including police) a Colombian guy tried to exit the Zona Rosa hotel through a fifth floor window and enter the building next door. He did not make it. He feel five stories and sustained only a minor leg injury. The really fucked up part is he fell on top of a 12 year old girl who was passing by below. The girl suffered horrific leg, wrist and arm injuries. She was treated on the scene and taken away in an ambulance. The walk job was carted off in the back of a police pick up. This happened only moments after I arrived at about 4 pm or so.

Damn, it looked to me like it was more like the second or third floor. He really did not look that bad off, he had a broken nose also, but he will surely be fucked up for the rest of his life, TRUST, I know.

The day before that I witnessed a kid about 16 years old throw a brick and an older guy on a bike, near the fountain. The brick hit him in the head. He was knocked out cold, and there was blood everywhere. Not sure if he survived or not. Strange thing was no one did anything cept me. I went up to the rock throwing kid and grabbed him. Moments later the police where on the scene and took over, I just melted into the crowd. Not sure if it was the Colombian thing to do or not, but I just could not stand by and let the kid get away with something like that. Never a dull day in Botera.

Some backgroung here. The original poster is dealing with a girl who at least claims to be a non-pro. Which is different from dealing with a pro. It is way way more dangerous for someone who like you say may fall in love easily. I do not know all the details, like how many times he visited before pulling the trigger and then moving but he ended up buying a house with a first floor commercial unit where he could open up his restaurant. He ended up being murdured just outside his new home. Some people say he was murdured for his gold chain that he was wearing but there was also lots of specualtiong that this was just a cover becuase after his death the woman now owns the property. I do not know if anyone found out the truth.

Now when it comes to dealing with professionals you must assume that they would steal from you if given the oppurtunity. You do not suspect that they might, you assume that they will. That does not mean that you should not repeat. It means you keep your shit secure and your AO sewed up tight. Use a building that has security etc. In your situation where you offer to test them. Just to repeat for the 1 millionth time on the forum, be careful in Centro. Walking through that area at night was always sketchy, but with the new gates there, the Plaza is even more devoid of people at night. I didn't know that and I tried to take a shortcut from the SW corner of the Plaza (around the end of Calle 52) to Ave De Greiff where the strip clubs like Conejitas are. Previously the path around the outside of the museum to De Greiff was de-populated at night with maybe only homeless and trannies walking around so I didn't like going around outside. That's why I typically take a diagonal path through the Plaza. I've done this many times so I thought I knew what to do. But I realized too late that apparently now both paths are pretty empty. About 200 ft in 2 guys rush in from behind me and demanded my phone with both holding knives. I normally look behind me every once in a while if I'm in a sketchy place, but it didn't occur to me they can mark you from somewhat far away and run at you before you notice. Anyways I wasn't going to fight that. I just put the phone on the ground and let them take it. Phone was old, so not a big financial loss. But if you're tense and the thieves are tense, obviously things can go very bad.

As another poster said, I think after 8 pm the risk / reward of going to either Santa Fe in Bogota or Centro in Medellin starts tilting towards more risk. To be sure, I still enjoy both areas, in fact picked up a pretty one next day around the south side of the Plaza at 2 pm, but no more late night outings there for sure. The girls there are rougher and more hardcore, more aggressive trannies, more homeless, more groups of guys hanging around for no apparent reason.

I know a guy that travels 5 or 6 times per year. He packs cellphones and vibrators (and other stuff) every time. Says he gets it cheap from some online stores in the USA, and the gilrls love him for it. I bet they do, think he is Santa Claus haha. But I don't think its necessary, and I always wonder how the girls would have treated him if he hadn't started bringing phones. Probably exactly the same!
