How does the country benefit from this market? I know they indirectly benefit for "employing" people but is there any other way Colombia benefits from this business?

When you think about the benefits to Colombia from prostitution, well the primary one is mongers come to the Country just like any other tourists, staying in Hotels and Apartments, eating in bars and restaurants, and many of these establishments play by the rules somewhat when it comes to paying taxes to the Colombian IRS called DIAN here, albeit a lot of companies fudge on their Colombian tax returns.

Just to add to what Surfer said, mongers bring money into the country period, and it does not have to be getting money to the government to help the country economics wise, it is even better to go straight into the economy, besides what Surfer mentions about hotels, bars, apartmentts and restauants, that money you paid for sex is not staying in that chicas pocket, they spend it, some will go to the shoe store, some will go to her landlord, some will go to the grocier etc and all or most of those people employ other people in one way or another.

Decided to stay in the mountains for a few days and stayed at the Monte-Helicon Ecolodge located between Santa Elena and Parque Avi. The property has ten cabins, two large jacuzzis, a large dry sauna, along with a large steam room. I took my Tomboy with me, and we where the only guests there on the second day of our stay. It's a cool place. And the Spa facilities were totally ours and we would cycle into the dry sauna, then the steam room called a "turco" here, and then into one of the Jacuzzis which were actually heated with an extensive air bubbling system and have beers while kind of melting away. During one of the cycles I told my companion while in the dry sauna that we where the only ones here, and that in the turco nobody can see what's going on inside, and that I had something on my mind. She gave me a funny look, and we went into the steam room and she knew exactly what I had in mind and said we could go to the cabin, but not in the Turco. So I suggested a compromise, I told her I would go down on her if she took off the bottom of her suit. She was already seated, and gave me a shit eating grin and ripped off her suit and about five minutes later she came, and then it was Jacuzzi time again with another round of beers.

Is this place recently built? If so, there was a YouTube video when it was just started and views etc. Are awesome. And the guy in charge does things first class. If it is that place, I rented from him in Laureles area a few years ago and will again whether it's there or at this new eco lodge. Either way, great discovery. I was told that they take a few week after 18 to be able to get their cedula. So unless that's a different kind of ID. I would be a little worry.

That is why I advocate not getting on the apps until you arrive (or maybe only a few days before) and having the chick to come immediately. Yes, it brings money into the country that gets spent locally which stimulates the economy in Colombia.

For many places this is the social welfare system for single mother families. I don't know what the percentage is, but in my experience in Costa Rica and Colombia 90 percent of the working women have children they are supporting. Many, but not all, are single parent families.

So I think this does cause some issues. For example Costa Rica makes it illegal to advertise the country as a destination for sex, and publicly makes examples of individuals and pensions (similar to casas in Colombia) with police raids, etc. But the raids are set up for the press, and end up with the police helping themselves to whatever they can grab during the raid. And the owner pays a fine and back in business the next day. Basically the powers that be recognize that there would be a huge social problem if they have single mothers with starving children, when by merely allowing (with controls) prostitution a lot of these gals can earn survival money.
