It seems that the "famous" Hotel M doesn't have balconies. And in general I would prefer "normal" hotels.

Hotel Nutibara. Ticks all your boxex. But you must ask for a room on floor 10 with a terraza. Only floor 10 has rooms with external / outdoor areas.

But you can smoke in any of the rooms and simply open the windows, that's what my chicas do and nooooo problemas. Good natural ventilation.

Weed for personal use is legal in Colombia. You can see and smell people smoking in public all the time especially in Medellin. What happened to you is a classic case of a corrupt cop intimidating a foreigner into paying a bribe. Next time it happens don't give them any money. Tell them "no hice nada ilegal, si quiere vamos a hablar con la fiscalia" and at that point they most likely would have let you go about your business.

Obviously they aren't going to really take you to the fiscalia as they themselves would be the ones getting in trouble for an attempted extortion. Also never go out of sight with them, if anything you want other people around to see what's happening and if the situation escalates you can tell other people what's happening "este oficial me quiere quitar plata y no hice nada ilegal, solo estaba fumando un cigarro y me estan molestando porque soy extranjero" at that point they would definitely back off.

Police corruption is a big problem in Colombia and the public is well aware of it. The riots last April were about police corruption. And have you ever seen graffiti that says "nos estan matando" that is a reference to police brutality

By now you probably agree it's better to know whether an activity is legal or not before you engage in it publicly. Whenever police or anyone unknown to you asks to move to a more secluded location, alarm bells and red flags should immediately go off. I hope that helps.

How much extra would you be willing to pay for a 4-5 person hot tub at a rental? Just curious how much value you think a hot tub adds to a rental? Also, Jacuzzi is a brand of Hot Tub, like Ford is a brand of car. Not that it matters, just sharing info. I noticed many of the Units in Medellin have kinda those shitty round tubs which aren't very fun and the water doesn't get too hot.

When you say "jacuzzi" to a Colombian they know what you mean. Those shitty round tubs are called garden tubs. The water doesn't get too hot because many places use inline, on demand water heaters. Many of the water heaters are not properly adjusted. There are 2 adjustments, 1 controls the flow rate through the heater, the other controls the temperature. Usually it's adjusted to provide warm water, not hot water.

Adjusting those water heaters is a bit of an art. If you turn the temperature up too much it overheats and shuts off to prevent starting a fire. If you increase the flow, it reduces the temperature.

If you manage to get the water nice and hot, most girls won't go in because it's too hot for them. They're used to lukewarm water.

I enjoy a jacuzzi, but it's not a deal breaker when I'm looking for an apartment. I first narrow down my price range, usually $39-$85 a night, then decide which place provides better value for me, depending on my plans for that trip.

So I was staying at laurels area near street 70. I pick a good spot where two cameras ahead of me and near my hotel. I saw one of the camera should be watched by the police I thought I will be safe. Asked me what country I am from. In a harsh way. I told them I thought it was candy. The cop talk to me harshly laughed. Then we dozen steps and I only have few 50 k bills and few 2 k bills. I gave them 1 50 k. And the police wanted 2 50 k. I gave them what they want and the cop leaves. Like. I was smelling real weed at the street 70. The busiest street at laurels. Nobody fucking care. Wtf. I later ask someone. They says it is legal. The cops just lied to me. What happen if I don't give them money? Will they harm me? Or lock me up for 24 hours Then release me?

It was a $25 lesson. But it doesn't seem that you learned from your mistake. Be smart and smoke in private. You assumed too much and were wrong.
