I knew the general direction towards which I should be going and just followed the crowd from Plaza Minorista, bunch of home supplies shops around, tiles, chairs etc. Relatively clean and no homeless. About two blocks from Plaza Botero a guy started walking next to me and struck up a conversation. Where am I from etc. He started in Spanish then switched to botched English. We exchanged couple friendly words, names, handshake, he said "Welcome to Colombia" and split to the right. I continue walking.

There was a short and empty street. I noticed the guy is back walking alongside me, he waved and came close. He put his arm around my neck to give me friendly 'hug', more like a strong squeeze. I jiggled out of it and continued walking. He asked for money with no so friendly look now. OK so it's like that then, I better get the fuck out of this situation ASAP. I stalled to buy some time and eventually gave him some 2's I keep loose in my pocket and picked up my pace, hoping he'll piss off. He wasn't satisfied. He started pointing to a wallet in my pocket. I decidedly said no. He tried to take off my backpack, but I didn't allow him, pushing his hands back on couple attempts. Some random guy carrying big black trash bag walked nearby curiously observing the scene, he didn't look homeless just like a local (the would be robber too BTW, he wasn't wearing rugs just normal clothes and a cap).

Sorry you had to go through that man.

We are out the quiet street now. I stopped in front of one of the hardware shops with the shopkeeper moving his stuff around. We were standing there three of us, the robber then wanted to use my phone 'for a minute'. I repeatedly said 'no' with 'no fucking way, period' attitude and we were just staring at each other. He tied to pull it out form my pocket. Again, I pushed off his attempts.

After a while he went couple meters forward and waited with the guy which was carrying a trash bag. Then they disappeared somewhere but I knew they are waiting. The shopkeeper shrugged his shoulders and went back to doing his stuff. I noticed another shop in the opposite direction and darted that way. Surely, the guy was soon next to me. I stopped next to the shopkeeper and a customer, again said 'no' to the guy and waved for him to go the fuck away. He walked away and I lost sight of him.

I was getting closer to the crowds, halfway between Carrera 53 and 52 on Avenida de Greiff I noticed him again on the other side of the street, walking parallel and looking at me. He then started his attempt to cross the street to cut me off and I decide to cross as well to avoid that and join the crowds on the other side. We meet on a little concrete patch in the middle of the Avenida de Greiff and he attempts again to pull out my phone and I push him back. I run across the street just before the traffic starts to move, so he's cut off now.

Finally he catches up with me on the crosswalk between the corner of Carrera 52 and Plaza Botero but gives up another attempt. We exchange not so friendly looks as he walks north on Carrera 52 and blends with the crowd. Taxi driver standing next to his car points at him and asks me what's going on. Not sure how to explain it, I just say 'Celural. Puta. ', seemed he understood. I'm in no mood for play so move thought the crowds to Parque Berrio station and catch a metro back home.

Fuck. If he had a knife or decide to hit me in the face I'd be probably done for, since he was stronger than me. Clearly he wasn't prepared or too sure of himself but saw an opportunity. I don't dress fancy; sneakers, blue jeans, simple t-shirt and no jewellery nor a watch, but there is no mistaking me for a local either.

Sounds like personal bias from too small a sample size, to me. Just guessing but that's what it sounds like.

I have a large, statistically significant sample size and I would have to report nearly opposite results. Perhaps there are other reasons for this discrepancy but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

The standards are different when you have your "harem" of long-term steadies who you trust and have built relationships. I disagree a bit with the fake tits. One of my all-time favorites I met via FB has implants. So I think YMMV on implants and there are some good ones out there. Then again, I don't mind implants at all if they are well done. Also, the whole mileage thing doesn't really matter to me as long as she's cool. I want a girl who knows how to fuck and some experience helps in that department.

You do bring up some good physical things to look out for. I'd add that with filters, you should expect most of them to be darker than they look in their pictures. Also, I find you roll the dice a bit more with some of the nonpros that don't post bikini or underwear photos. Some may have C-section scars or stretch marks if they've had a kid. For me, that's not the end of the world, especially if you are fucking them for free / price of taxis.

Ultimately, I think their attitude and communication style is just as important. I've never had a bad time with a chica I met that promptly and consistently answered my chats or was happy to just chat for a while. I tend to avoid the ones that say Hello, and then answer your response two days later. You have to expect that they are all having five to ten conversations simultaneously. I don't believe there is a correlation between fake tits and the experience you will have with the chica and here's why. First of all, it's not binary, there are great boob jobs and horrible ones. The Cadillac is under the muscles with virtually invisible scars in the anterior creases of both axillae. When you grab a boob you are not even touching the implant. They move and bounce naturally. Believe it or not, a lot of guys will not even know they are seeing and handling a boob job. This is what I bought my ex-wife and the only "criticism" she would get is "they might not be real because they look too good".

As for the "entry level" boob job, the "anchor cut". Huge scars. Chicas go for this because they don't have the money and they don't care as much what they look like nude. They are more concerned with their shape and figure under their clothes.

Also, in my experience a girl could just as well give exceptional performance after having "been around" as you put it. Depends on how she puts to use what she learned along the way, jeje.

Jajaja, other than it's not genuinely funny, I cannot tell you the number of times chicas will write me asking for money because "they have not eaten" and will include a foto at the same time that shows them obviously fattened up. Granted, they could be talking about short-term hunger.

Since it's a serious topic let me just submit a couple things should be added to the "Lazy person's guide to safety in Medellin".

First don't go out and get as drunk as you would on a vacation in Las Vegas. Keep your wits about you. As someone from a rich country (most any country relative to Colombia) you are a target. Be aware of this fact always and don't let your guard down.

Second don't allow a chica to bring her amiga, prima or hemana (friend, cousin or sister) along to your apartment or hotel room. While at first it may sound like a sexual fantasy in reality it's often a common ploy to rob you one way or another. Keep it one chica at a time until you get to know them well enough that you trust them.

And lastly for new guys reading Osteo's posts just realize the chicas take care of him as he is "the golden goose that keeps on giving". So don't even think to try and replicate his style.
