Just got quoted 450 mil for an hour + taxi fee from a Prepagos girl. Am I tripping or is that way too high. I'the rather get 2 pops at a casa for 140 k.

.... Upon walking thru the Park around 7 PM there were very few girls, at least obvious girls working....

I had an appointment at 10 AM in El Poblodo. I had a online meeting from 9 AM t0 10 AM on a short notice. I figured the park would be quiet so I had my meeting in the park. There were a couple of street artists selling painting or portraits. THere were also a row of tents selling souvenirs, same as Plaza Botero. Most of the surface on the surrounding streets were painted. There were two girls working. I noticed many features of the park that I did not notice at night. There were many groups of gringos around the area. I couldn't help and took this picture.

A whisky and coke used to be about 25 mil at La Isla. You get a table and pretty good service from a waiter whether you are alone or with a group. A session was about 270 the first time I went to the club. I remember there was no cover at Fase2 before and on site session was about 160 mil. I could be wrong with these numbers as it was before Covid

I also visited La Isla Monday night with fellow new bee from here. just to chk out the talent. They charged 40 mil cover weekdays. And 220 mil for 6 corona small size bottles. if you want to seat upfront then you must buy big liquor bottle.They are nuts. And fase dos is no different. Went there with seasoned ISG member on Friday night. cover was 30 mil and For Absolute vodka 200 or 250 ML bottle, it was 220 mil peso. Yikes. Parque lleras Vennies will quote 300 mil for 1 session. They have union over there. Haha.

And pick up bars were even higher 300 to 350 mil peso for chicas and bar fine of 100 mil peso. Its like you need HELOC to go to Colombia now. HaHa.

Is it possible they are doing different things on different nights? One night where it is slower could be 50 and a night where they had all going on that you say, the price could be jacked up to 80. You both could be right.

In terms of amenities I have heard premier Plaza is better, I've only used it as a short time hotel, whereas with Calle Real I lived there for about a month back in 2021. I know Calle Real had a mini fridge in the room, a decent bed and flat screen TV with HDMI hook up for connecting a laptop and also had hot water.

I believe they said the room I used to stay in with the windows was going to be turned into a jacuzzi room, so they may offer a jacuzzi sweet at Calle Real now.

Wow great to hear from someone who has personal experience with both hotels, I am planning to book one of them for one day and then decide where to spend rest to the time after looking on both when I reach there, I have to visit Medellin from August 3 to August 23 , I know that this area is a little dangerous (I have been there only 2 times but only in daylight) , do to think its too dangerous to stay there as you have personal experience staying that area?

Is there a gym somewhere within walking distance in El Centro. ?. I'll be staying at the Nutibara and need a place to flex my manly muscles.

There are a couple up on Ave Oriental, close to the La Playa intersection. BodyTech is one of them. Can't recommend bcos I don't go to those places. Those are not the type of muscles I look to flex.

I always pay in exact cash when using taxis. I never give them big bills, which is one of the reasons why I use my 50 k bills when making transactions in the stores no matter how small. .

Just a nota bona for you guys out there, there are various ways to break the 50 k bills.

1) use them at a big store when getting a 10-20 k recarga for your sim card.

2) go to a big casino at la playa and get smaller notes at the cashier box.

3) use it to buy a 5 k metro card.

4) use an ATM at an open colpatria or davivienda branch (lots in the malls) and walk to the teller and they give you as many 10-20 k notes as you want.

La isla use to be 20 k entrance and a mixture of people between locals and tourists. Taking the girl upstairs was 300 mil. The girls were truly hot and they use to be open to whatever desire you had and if one girl wouldn't another would.

Now its 80 k to enter the girls are not as hot and they won't do basic things like BBBJ etc. And their prices to take them out is a million min just for them.

Yes and the buzz that we hear, the videos of people walking around spewing their BS bring more of the same. Then idiots making it rain. Kinda like the USA hip hop world mentality, big asses and stupid people. HEY, look at me I have $. The hot girls are still there. They are more selective now. Cost maybe 20-40% more. Still incredible. You won't find them in the US under what $300 for an ugly SW? . Patience and persistence is now your best game. I found 2 extremely good looking girls, got their numbers and had them meet at my hotel 2 days later. Never left my seat, was polite to everyone (even the fatties) and succeeded. I'll be back in 3 weeks. It takes 9-10 hours on a plane from Vegas (or me) . Florida is 3-4, NYC is 5. No wonder it's full of shit for brains people. (just kidding).

It was ruined by youtubers. Every day, I mean daily, multiple youtubers post videos from Colombia advertising it as sex paradise full of hot girls and for cheap. What used to be secret intel you could find only on this forum is now everybody secret. It will never get better it will get just worse and worse like Thailand. There is really nothing you can do so just enjoy while it last, once something is in decline it never comes back to its former glory unless global economy collapses and simps run out of money.

over all Medellin is becoming more expensive. i think chicas are dominating scene better then mongers this year as compare to pre covid era. there is that limited supply of FB chicas 80% of them are on every one's friend list. so they are not Semi pro any more. HaHa.

Please note entrance fee at la ISLA is 50 K not 80, says so at the door. A corona beer is about 32 K not 40 and yes you can buy one.

One skinny (slim) blonde or fake blonde Chica came to sit next to me and we engaged in a convo, still not very fluent in spanish (I speak mostly Porto) but can manage. I guess she thought she was the shit as she quoted me 600K without batting an eye. As I was leaving the club, she was sitting by herself, our eyes locked and we both smiled at each other.

There was another cute chica, kinda tall with a great body, at least an 8 on anyones scale, she spoke a bit of English, asked how much she wanted, quoted me 100 USD to go back in the room, I asked her to quote in pesos, she wanted 400K (current exchange rate ranged from 4484 to 4619 during the week) I countered with 300K but she stood firm at 400k, being quoted in pesos was a 60k difference, 60 K isnt the issue, it is taking control of the transaction not allowing the Chica to dictate the price and conversion rate.

Spent rest of my time in Laureles after that, theres an abundance of regular real cute Chicas out there and some casas.

taxis are generally safe ...As soon as you enter the cab, try to remember to check that the meter has started running.

Even better, just live in El Centro, then you don't need a taxi. **shrugmoji**.

I've lived here for almost 4 years now. I take taxis everywhere and I don't have any bad experiences to report. Of course if you are getting your taxis at Parque Lleras or close by. Then there might be someone trying to take advantage. Afterall that is the tourist zone where the rich foreigners stay......

We've probably flogged the Uber / Taxi horse to near death (to be sure, an uber-prosaic topic for a mongering board), but I thought that I'd get in one more whack at the horse's near corpse in order to share a couple of lessons learned from navigating the streets of Medellin over the past four years or so.

As Villainy has noted, taxis are generally safe (with the exception of some of the drivers hanging out near Parque Lleras), but I'd add that that's with one important exception that newbies should keep in mind. On 3 or 4 occasions (out of 100's of rides) I've had drivers conveniently "forget" to turn the meter on at the beginning of the trip and then try to charge double or triple the reasonable rate. As soon as you enter the cab, try to remember to check that the meter has started running.

After having used taxis exclusively for several years, I now tend to divide my trips between cabs and Uber based on the following considerations:

If I'm familiar with my destination, I know roughly what the trip should cost, and I'm in a location with plenty of taxis passing by, I'll just jump in a cab. This often saves the sometimes prolonged wait for a ride-share driver to accept the ride and show up.

However, if I've never been to the destination (and it's not near some landmark familiar to everyone e.g. Plaza Botero, a Centro Commercial) then I take an Uber since all of their drivers have the Uber Map app or use WAZE. By contrast, many taxi drivers are Luddites, who don't use smart phones with WAZE or Google maps. On several occasions I've had to sit out their driving around cluelessly for 15 minutes or more trying to find my destination address, and sometimes having to call someone at the destination to get help. In a couple of cases (e.g. coming from Laureles to an obscure Envigado address) the driver has given up altogether and returned me home. This would never happen with Uber, In-Driver, or the other rider apps.

I have had a couple of chicas tell me that they have had problems with taxi drivers at night (theft; sexual assault), but I don't have a sense that (statistically) that's a risk that us aging lechers have to much worry about. I do sometimes, especially late at night, take a good look at the driver before getting in his car, and, if I get a bad vibe, wave him away. Always happiest to find an older driver with religious medallions on the dashboard who crosses himself every time he passes by a church.
