Versalles is an historic institution. I love the atmosphere and old photos but I am very uncomfortable with the lack of cleanliness. I've seen cockroaches walking across the merchandise in the front counter.

Not far away, also on Junin (Carrera 49 and. 52-84) you can get a very good breakfast at Reposteria Astor. Astor was started by a Swiss immigrant family. Me I do breakfast in Centro at Versalles Restaurante & Pasteleria, Cra. 49 #53-39, (Junin Walking St), starts across from the S end of Parque Bolivar, if you see no tables they have a upstairs too. Right across the walking street is Centro artesanal mi Viejo Pueblo, Cra. 49 #53-20, a good place to browse for souvenirs, and I will walk down the walking street for a bit of window shopping. Versalles has menus in English also if you ask for them.

I wanted to share a quick update on my recent trip to Medellin.

Background: I'm a fairly experienced traveler and monger in international cities. I get to travel a few times a year for work and try to take advantage of what is available locally. Since I work during the day, my time for wandering or trying to score talent at local malls, etc is limited.

Even with a work / cultural thing interrupting your day, it is still amazingly easy to score a great time in Medellin. In fact, compared to other cities I've traveled to, Medellin ranks at the top of the list. If there were a scoring system, I give it a solid 8. 5 out of 10, with 10 being the highest.

Medellin has everything a guy could want. Culture. Music. Amazing food. Friendly people. Beautiful women. Young, old. Tall, short. Dark, light. Skinny, fat. If you go to Medellin and you have trouble meeting women, you are doing it wrong. Will knowing Spanish help? Hell yeah it will, but not knowing it doesn't stop you from doing much. And if she's standoffish because you need to use a translator app? Find the next one, she's only a few feet away..

Right now, the XE.com rate is 4278. You should get that rate at the ATM's Thursday. The ATM rate is the best thing going. You can know what it will be two days in advance. Tomorrow, the rate will be over 4200. I don't remember what the XE rate was yesterday, but I think it was around 4205.

Yesterday was a holiday both in Colombia and in the US. So I'm not sure what tomorrow's rate will be. May well be the same as todays. But you are absolutely correct about Thursday.

We should expect to see a Visa Exchange rate in the 4,270's.

Breakfast in Medellin sucks. So far I have eaten in Nutibara, Dorado La 70 and Vivre. All breakfasts are equally bad and the latter 2 hotels are rated 4. 5 of 5 at google reviews. Those people that did the reviews must never have tried a breakfast in an european hotel. They will also complain if you go a second round to get more food. In europe it is always buffet style. How much do I need to spend on a hotel in Medellin to get same quality breakfast as in europe with buffet style? In Brazil the hotel breakfasts are much better then here and it is buffet style and that is hotel for half price of what I pay here.

I've had some great experiences including a few chicas I see to this day that started out purely as girls I saw on-line Web camming. Take a boat ride if it's cheap. Find out your hobbies in the area and meet some people. Build up your photo gallery for Tinder or Instagram. Times are changing guys.

San Peter is good for a short stay, but it's not a place I would pick for more than 2-3 days. If I come back to Laureles I will visit and stay the area near Segundo Parque de Laureles, it's much better, a bit more upscale and plenty of locals.
