    Ferando Botero: Some Parting Words

Fernando Botero: Dead or Alive? If asked six months ago, I would have flunked the quiz, and was surprised to learn from this linked article that he just gave up the ghost in September. For those of you who speak / read Spanish with some fluency (especially the El Centro Rats who spend much of their waking hours loitering in the shadows of his rotund sculptures in the eponymous Plaza Botero), this interview with him (conducted shortly before his death) from today's Spanish edition of the Times, may be of interest. You should be able to find some new friends if you stay at Mansion.

Not all rooms have soundproof windows. I have been in the soundproof room. It's better but the ambient noise is obvious even for me. It really depends on one's sensitivity level. It works for some, but some will still be bothered.

The apartment number that ends with 01 have bedroom facing La 70 and are noisy. The noise level is high on weekends until to 4 or 5 AM Monday morning.

You are generalizing in a very broad way.

All the girls I fuck in MDE are at least that hot. There are tons of them available. I checked her IG, no tits and fat on her ass. Even so she has a million followers, another reason I wouldn't do her.

Do you have a later report that says he died? The report you referenced says his health status is reserved.

    Hi guys,

I am going to Medellin in February 18-26.

Been there already, but this time I am traveling alone. Anyone plans to be there in that time?

    Looking for a wingman.

Could use a coach / mentor while there to help me learn mainly where to go and not go. Be glad to compensate for their time, or at least buy some meals and drinks.

Maybe someone very experience from US that could advise me some about spending 3/4 months year there during our winter months.

I have read a lot of information on here, but nothing like having an experienced and knowledgeable new friend to advise me.

    Details;

73 year young, great health, good personality, know my time chasing "monky" is passing fast so have sense of urgency to get as much of it as I possibly can!

To hell with the kids inheritance, they would waste it anyway. LOL.

From Tennessee, spend 3/4 months Florida as snowbird, but getting so expensive there thinking of changing to Colombia.

Fly into Medellin next week on Spirit December 15 for 12 days. Yes we were planning a heck of a time, I can't get refund on tickets so I'm going make best of it as I can.

See this trip now mainly as; learning safe areas, common safety precautions, the culture, the people, the currency, or let me say things you had to learn the hard way.

Feel free to private message with any questions or ideas you may have.

    Monky eye.

I like that the article gave us some numbers to work with. It said that crime against foreign tourists is on the rise. This year there have been 248 reported thefts and 26 violent deaths.

I was told that you have to initially have to build the building to make it soundproof. I believe you have to have a double window (2 windows separated by air) to make it soundproof. The only / best place I know that has that is the Majestic Suites in Bangkok. The rooms that face busy Suk are quiet.

You have to get the rooms that faces away from Avenida 70. I've never stayed at those rooms, so I can't confirm. But those rooms faces away from Avenida 70, which has all the bars.

    First Trip, need Help

Coming to Medellin for my first trip and do not speak Spanish. Friend was coming with that speaks it and been there before, but he had heart attack and can't come.

I thought there might be an opening on the side of the museum again because I noticed the flow of pedestrian traffic was flowing in a way I had not seen since the barriers went up. I asked one of the merchants but he told me no. I'm glad he was wrong. Also new in the plaza is the opening of branches of three long time Provenza businesses, La Tasca Espanola, Bam Bam (hamburgers) and El Social (coming soon) in and near the former Tostao location. The owner of La Tasca is the head of the Provenza business owner association and the self appointed mayor of Provenza. I admire her tireless promotion of Medellin tourism. She famously put her foot down and demanded the authorities take action against the foreigner who paraded a scantily clad woman through Provenza on a leash with a dog collar attached to her neck. The foreigner was later deported.

I got down here a little early and while I was waiting for her to arrive I did a tour around plaza botero inside of the barriers. I noticed that behind the museum there is a gap in the barriers (see attached photo) where people can exit and enter onto cra 53 (the bar street) without any police there manning the gap. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of even having the barriers in the first place?

Anyways centro is still as great as always I had a great session and my favorite limonada lady still hooks me up with a big ass vaso of limonada for 2 mil pesos.

I was disappointed to see that one my favorite restaurants "Chorizos and Asados" is no longer there. It got replaced by some bullshit called Rey de Sopas.

The third picture is from inside hotel botero real (el hotel rojo) from the point of view of the stairs looking out of the entrance.

I expected these barriers to be good soon maybe within the next month as soon as Fico takes over.
