Quick report about my Saturday night visit to Fase 2. Having lived in Medellin a while this was only my second visit but I was very please about the quality of girls working that night. Didn't even cross my mind that she might report me for assault considering the alternative of leaving her in my apartment and waiting to see who showed up. And unless she had sustained some kind of injury she wouldn't have had a leg to stand on anyway.

Police here don't do anything if someone accuses you of assault. Unless you are still there when the polcie arrive, then I'm sure they would have hit me up for money. If she wanted to file a police report she would have had to spend a day. And mean an entire day. At the Fiscalia to do so. And, they usually won't issue an arrest warrant unless you bring a witness or have some other proof a crime was committed.

It is a matter of perspective, and personal experience, in Facebook groups, there are many reported actual robberies, there was a whole table in the restaurant robbed, multiple members of the same family robbed on different dates, multiple robberies at the same spot, none of them are in El Centro, actually, I have not heard any one can identify such a spot in El Centro. In this forum, we mostly reported what we have "heard", then it becomes so dangerous. A foreigner will always be an easy target regardless where you are.

I am trying to think about this logically. Why would a robber wait in El Centrol to rob someone in an area when there are few people around? If the robber is smart, he would go to an area with more and better targets.

I hope no one misinterprets any advice here to mean it's a good idea to wander around Centro alone at night because it is not at all a good idea.

It is not that the girls are safer, it is the location. El centro is dangerous for gringos and Colombians too, especially at night. The only time I've had a attempted mugging was in fact in Poblado. It was a secluded street late at night, which always carries some risk. But on average, Centro is definitely more risky.

If you are not a scared rabbit then give Centro a look. If you don't dig the scene then don't go anymore. It is really as simple as that.
