I think it's a bit of an exaggeration to suggest the locals think all gringos are asses. As I stated, the gringos that can't seem to stay out of trouble with the police and locals are not hard to avoid. In a metro area of over 4 million people, you find 3 ugly girls and declare the whole city is worthless?

This trip was so odd. I had been in Bogota the first weekend of August and it followed the standard Santa Fe routine. Street girls, club girls, street girls and done. All good.

Medellin, for whatever reason, became the "novia GFE" trip.

Night 1 - Saturday the 19th. Walking from Lleras toward Calle 10, met a long black haired beautiful semi-indigenous looking girl. High cheekbones, full lips, slim, but with nalguitas that you can get a nice handful of. Went for a drink, had some snacks at the Mexican bar / salsa place just south of Lleras, went across to the super loud club but sat outside and had some drinks. Went to my hotel, no charge to take her up, and we had a nice 1 hour plus time together. Back to the bars, more drinks, back to the hotel more fucking. Then repeated again.

Day 2 / Night 2 Sunday the 20th to Monday the 21st. Spent the whole day Sunday in bed, watching tv and more sex. Same night time routine. Finally, she left Monday morning. All in, she asked for zero money, which was odd, but I gave her $170 k, plus bought food and drinks. Saw her later that day and she had gotten a big hole in her fake Chanel sneakers where the sole separated from the leather. I gave her another $100 k for some new shoes.

All in, $270 k for probably 12 sessions, multiple pops over 3 nights and 2 full days. Craziness. Never had that happen before.

Day 3 - rest and recovery day. But popped by the spa on lower Calle 10 heading toward Carrera 43, got a massage and an exceedingly nice happy ending.

Day 4-5 - hooked up with a girl from Tinder. She works at a big department store in one of the larger centro commerciales, so I met her at work, went to dinner, back to my hotel for 2 hours. Zero cash, paid for taxis and dinner. Next day, met her again for dinner, stayed overnight at my hotel and we had about 6 different sessions over the entire evening, night, next morning. She had to work and was about to leave. Didn't ask for any money whatsoever, but before she did I gave her $400 k to put toward her scooter purchase. She was exceedingly grateful.

The MIG form you filled out is on the computer. They don't need to ask for it because they see the information on their computer screens.

The fare to Poblado from the airport is set out on the big sign on the wall where you get the white taxi. It says "98 pesos". Always good to confirm with the driver but so far they all have complied with the posted fare.

They are not hard to avoid. They are only a nuisance most of the time. As mentioned, they regularly have bad interactions with locals and with each other. There is a younger contingent that hangs out in the bars behind the church doing tusi and coke.

Some of these gringos were arrested and put into jails for a few days. Now the locals think that all gringos are assxxxxs.

Airport taxi is a bit higher. Normal rate used to be 80 k-100 k to Laureles or El Plobado but now min is 120 k. Some wanted 150 k.

I was getting the same error on my last trip, but I was using the Frequent Traveler option like Fun Luvr mentioned. I didn't use that option and then tried another computer with another browser. That worked, but I don't think I had to use a different computer or browser.

I'm back in Bogota and had no issues using my iPhone the other day. Didn't use Frequent Traveler either.

Apparently they have not worked out all the bugs since they transitioned and changed the Platform several months back as for whatever reason my frequent traveler info wasn't transferred over and I had issues last month with Check Mig but got around it.

The most likely cause is a temporary web server outage. Checkmig sits behind the Colombia immigration website's WAF. Try again later.

It's been a while since I've done devops type work but it could be geo tied load balancer leads to a bad server / site. Maybe try bouncing off a VPN in Colombia? Failing that maybe try rebooting and using an incognito tab.

I would say let the old guys have their fun. They are probably living on a tight budget and they enjoy the El Centro scene. Just ignore them and move on.
