This is not completely accurate. The embassy is sponsoring the flights and notifying people who register to STEP. To book the flight you must use the spirit web site. It is the place to go to see availability and to arrange for travel. As of this morning there are no available seats. As I wrote earlier, Spirit has been adding flights at the rate of two per week since the start of the quarantine.

Humanitarian flights are those that Spirit has been operating to repatriate Americans and permanent residents since the border was closed in March. Regular flights are those that are not scheduled to resume before September 1. As of this morning all humanitarian flights are sold out but Spirit has been adding two per week regularly. You have to search for one way Medellin to Ft. Lauderdale to see them on Spirit's web site. You can also register with the US Embassy to receive what I'm told are notification a day or two in advance of the flights appearing on Spirit's web site.
