Pricing of 300 K to 400 K after 1 AM in the morning seems astronomical in a sense when the same quality girl can easily be had for a fifth or less in Centro.

Almost sounds unionized in a sense for a SW at 3 AM morning asking for so much.

Or perhaps I'm just having a hard time reconciling and processing the way things are now.

Before the Pandemic the activity was always in and around Parque Lleras, but now Calle 10 has become what I guess you could call the "Strip" in Zona Rosa of Poblado.

If this is the new norm for the Strip, it's not surprising.

And with the lack of short time Love Motels nearby, the SW's in a lot of instances will have to spend more time with a client getting to and from their Hotel or Airbnb, hence higher pricing.

However as many are aware, a lot of the same SW's also work Centro. And I can't blame them for strutting their wares on the Strip for a much bigger payday, and if these SW's are actually getting over 250 K for short time at 3 AM, what the hell are they asking for at 10 PM.

Anyways, what your reporting is not surprising and unfortunately if it's the new norm, it's just another transition Medellin is going thru with all the increased tourism and foreign remote workers.

I would disagree with the statement that a lot of the streetwalkers in Poblado also work in El Centro. I am not sure of the supporting evidence to back up this assertion. But then again my statement is space just on looking at the girls in Poblado and looking at the girls in El Centro. It is definitely not a scientific analysis.

I think that the girls who can command a higher rates would work in Poblado and those who can't, work in El Centro.

I was here two years ago and it would be 11 pm pouring rain, not a gringo in sight and these chicks still asking 300 k. I didn't get it then either. But if they made some cash in the day maybe they just hold out for the big fish.

I am staying in Laureles now and the neighborhood is fine. I will be moving to Poblado next week so I can report on a few things. But I'm not a casa, streetwalker or nightclub guy which is what most guys here are into. I have been perfectly happy with Facebook girls, 18-22. It has been working out in the past and it's working out on this trip. When I see a new girl sometimes it is disappointing but often it is not. I do my research and reach out to the girls before the trip and not during the trip so when I arrive in Medellin I already have a number of girls to see and my schedule is already filled up. I don't schedule the girls ahead of time except for the first day. I think one or two days notice is the best way because girls don't know what they're going to do more than a day in advance. If there is a party with friends, they rather do that.

Ok, I'll bite. To my Centro Rats out there, what's the going rate in el Centro nowadays?

40 mil más la pieza a parte (plus room fee).

Some girls try to say 50 k or 60 k if they think you look like a gringo but I instantly counter offer to 40 k why yo pago la pieza and if they say no then just go down the line there's 50 more that will say yes.

Of course if you want extras it can be a little more but even upto BBFS shouldn't set you back more than 70 k to 100 k depending on the girl.

And yes you should speak Spanish when negotiating.

There were news articles a couple of months ago about the problem with under age stuff in Parque Lleras and in Centro around Botero. Police and the social services for child welfare have been on the scene in Parque Lleras with police as they were setting up the road blocks coming in to the area. So I suspect that is the main reason, and also to make the area safer for people enjoying the bars and clubs still inside the Parque Lleras area. I don't think it was ever to stamp out legit prostitution as that is legal. Although the area does not have that zoning so perhaps there could be issues around that for the businesses that are part of that.

I was just walking on Calle 10 and couldn't find anyone, where are you finding these girls exactly? Do you have to go inside one of the restaurants or clubs to find them? How do you tell apart civilian girls from working girls? Sorry if this is obvious, just kinda struggling out here.

This probably sounds stupid but man I thought the working girls would be more obvious than they are to me. Sorry if this is a hand holding question, but how exactly do I find one? Do I just walk up to random girls I see on their own? I only saw three in the whole park and they looked like they didn't want to talk to anyone (looking down at their phone, sitting on a corner of a bench). I don't want to end up harnessing a poor civilian who's just waiting for her friends to show up. The hottest, youngest looking girls tend to congregate together in groups which tells me they are not working girls. Am I wrong to assume this?

Do I actually have to go into one of the clubs? I don't drink and am traveling solo, so I'd just be sitting around basically and hoping a girl would come up to me, which isn't ideal as I'd like to pick out the girl, not the other way around.

Part of the issue might be that I'm a young Latino guy so girls might not recognize me as a gringo on the prowl. Every girl I've seen on my trip so far has come from websites (I'll report on them all in a later post) and they've all been great but I wanted the experience of picking one off the park at least once on my trip. No. I wouldn't recommend Medellin for someone who speaks zero Spanish. I especially wouldn't recommend it for someone expecting to find prices unchanged from 2018.

While those prices may still be found, they will almost certainly require lots of negotiation, in Spanish and will be at incall locations, casas, or informal casas and not independents.

Hi there. Anyone staying at the Mansion right now or recently that may know why the bar next door is closed? I asked and they told me it may be opened in 3 weeks but they don't have anymore information. TIA.

Not sure if you are aware, but there is a separate forum here for the mansion (look for Casa Blanca). This was discussed there. But briefly, they allowed an important permit to expire, forcing its unplanned closure. Initially they thought they could get it renewed in a week; but like many government-related things in Colombia, things can take longer than desired. Now it seems they are expecting a two more-week delay before they get the new permit and can reopen the bar.

A Airbnbs a Many, if not most, want nothing to do with people like us who want to bring prostitutes into their homes or properties. Same in San Jose. I'm in an airbnb there now that said nothing on their Airbnb listing, but when I got here it is posted clearly on the wall that no unregistered guests allowed, no guests with any connection with prostitution, etc. Same idea in Medellin. So some that specifically allow guests are the only good option if that is what you want to do.

Definitely a good idea to query your airbnb host about guest policies prior to booking. I haven't had an issue luckily but I'm usually up front and tell them I have several girlfriends and they will visit. Is that an issue? One host got all heated and said prostitution is not allowed. I got pretend offended that how dare he call my girlfriends prostitutes and he chilled out. Wound up he is an absentee manager and the security staff had no issue with me bringing up chicas. Sometimes just asking their guest policy is sufficient to guage the situation. Obviously being discreet about the whole process is paramount. The more she looks like a regular chica the better.
