OMG. Is this a joke? The "largest muslim population on the planet" means danger?

Indonesia has a population of 260 million people. 8 terrorist attacks in 6 years? WOW! It means that the terror threat is less important than in Western Europe (we had many more victims, many more attacks, and on a smaller population).

Crime is rare and non comparable to the crime in Latin America, Western Europe or in USA. It is way more likely to be shot by a gangster (or a policeman) in USA than in Indonesia.

However, I understand this chat leads nowhere. It is also OOT and people will hate me for insisting to write something unrelated to MEdellin. You keep your ideas and we keep ours. No problem.
You "do the research" on the Internet, I probe the beauty and sweetness of Indo ladies directly on site. Next trip will next month. YUM!

Jakarta is overflowing of girls who are happy to spend the night with a Western man for few bucks or even free. Every big city in Indonesia has a variety and quantity of brothels and night clubs where local girls just wait a gentleman. Try reading the ISG threads of Indonesia, if you don't believe me. (in the Batam thread, I am the main contributor. You can read maybe 50-100 reports of mine with details).

The only place in Indonesia where Muslim law rules is probably Banda Aceh, where most people is very strictly observant. Even there, not a single public whipping ever happened. That is not the law of Indonesia! There were rumors this year, because in such hard-Muslim areas the local government wanted to prohibit girls to drive a bike with short skirt, but I am not sure it passed.

Tell that to the victims, and their families, of the many terrorist attacks that have taken place over the years. I have been to Indonesia but you must not have been otherwise you would be aware of the muslim insurgency that is taking place there and the many women who have been publicly whipped for committing adultery. Which European woman would want to live there?

Agree about FB 100%. I have a fake account on there and have a Chrome enabled logoff that hopefully really gets me off FB when I log out, so they can't track me and email my GMail contacts, etc. Don't use it on the phone. One time I got Tinder, which is associated with FB, and started to use it on my phone and it started loading up all my contacts and sending them stuff, it was almost a disaster. It's probably not worth it to have FB at all, but I do to keep in touch with friends who are in or go to Colombia. FB sucks though, basically.

I have 3 FB accounts: one with my real name and photo, and two more with a fantasy name and a photo of some random guy I photographed years ago on top on El Penol at Guatape. Of course, I don't want to use a photo available on the www. It's too easy to find it using Google.

Well, there is a way to avoid that, but it's too complex. Too easy to make a mistake. Or they reconfigure the privacty settings and you are fucked up: your wife or colleagues see that you have 20 girls from Indonesia or Colombia among your friends. Difficult to justify that.

My solution: I don't use FB. I add my friends to my two main accounts (I don't tell my real name to anyone), but they are closed: all information visible only to MYSELF. Very egocentric, but effective to protect my privacy. I have 50 requests of friendship pending from various people I know, but I simply ignore them. If they want to get in touch with me, they can Google my name and get the email address.

You are so wrong here!! If we leave aside the hookers and local girls matter, Singapore and HK offer a lot to a business man, but not that much to a pure tourist. Indonesia, besides its lovely girls (hookers, FLs, and girlfriends), has A LOT TO OFFER to the tourist (even to couples in honeymoon)!! I will not enumerate. Plenty of natural beauty, wilderness, diving, jungle, . And even culture and archeology. Did you hear about Borubudur?

You can hide all your friends from everyone. Display your friends page. Just above the photos, to the right, there is a little symbol of a pen. Click on the pen and then on "Edit Privacy". Select "Only you" for friends and following. No one sees your friends or the people you are following.

My concern is that the privacy rules on FB are damn complex. For example, I can hide the friends, but if one of them posts something on my wall? Or comments? Or if my profile is related to others and FB proposes my friends as possible friends to others? I am afraid that the probability that I make a mistake, even a small mistake, is too high to risk.

ADDITIONAL REMARK
I followed your instructions in my personal FB. I discovered that, as I expected, "only me" can see my friends, and "only me" can see who I follow, but I also discovered that "EVERYONE" can see who follows me!
I think this was not included in the form when I set the privacy settings. Maybe they added it later, and of course the default setting is "public". One more proof that it is better to not rely on privacy settings of FB, and to not mix on our main profile the wife, the work boss, the church, and the girls from the bars of Raudal :p

Just photoshop ID if Facebook wants it. They use algorithms to find fake profiles. So if you made the account and friended 30 unrelated people in the same day they are going to think you're fake. So go slow a little don't friend too many people. Use a name that could be a real name. Don't use a nick name etc. So don't be Sammy Davis, be Samuel Davis. Etc. Facebook will try to link with your other emails and possibly your phone. On the computer, you can just use one browser (like MIE, which you probably don't use so much these days) for your fake FB. To avoid linking from everyone in your email, make an entirely new free email account in the browser, and then only use that email and that Facebook in that browser. If you use your real email, everyone you ever emailed will be invited to friend your fake Facebook profile. So make a new fake email for your fake Facebook. This might be inconvenient for some people, but it is not terribly difficult to do. You can also get a burn phone at Walmart for $20 to connect with your fake email and fake Facebook. The other posters here are right, if you use your real Facebook, all your friends will be invited to friend any of your new Friends. so all your Church buddies and your in-laws and your parole officer anyone you know will see all your new friends. Yeah you can try to conceal it, but a reasonably intelligent person is going to figure it out.

It was only within the last year and a half that I created another authentic page with less than 100 of my friends and family members added. I'm reluctant to use my real page to start adding dozens of Colombian Babes for appearance sake.
