Legality and the public perception are two different things. Colombia, along with many other Latin American countries, tolerate prostitution and have not made it illegal. But when a place becomes viewed as a sex tourism destination there is public disgust and politicians feel obligated to act. Prostitution is tolerated, not liked or loved or admired. If you listen to local radio you will hear the story every time some foreigner is charged with some illegal act, and your taxi driver will comment on it. Basically blame the foreigner. No one says anything about the rampant sexual activity especially in poorer areas and resulting in very few virgins older than 14 or so. It can be politically popular to campaign to clean up the streets of Lleras, for example. And to keep all commercial sex hidden or at least not on front pages by having the areas of tolerance, etc. For a Colombian man it is known that they see working girls, but no one wants to talk about it, know about it, or have it in their face.

So what may be legal may not help you if someone decides to make an example out of you. You are assumed guilty if you are charged with something. So you will probably be in custody (jail) waiting for your case to be heard. You may well get a fair trial, if you live that long.

So true, it is unlikely you will have any problems if you quietly do your own personal thing, visit local establishments, and generally keep a reasonably low profile. But the moment you get into running tours or advertising back home. Anything seen as promoting sex tourism. You have painted a target on your back. In my opinion not worth doing.

You are absolutely correct. Although some politicians and hotel/apartment owners discourage sex tourism, it's not illegal. I don't condone the "showing off" of someone's sex prowling, but I don't think anyone will be arrested for it. If the person becomes too obnoxious, the authorities will probably find something to charge him with.

So many places have changed over the years. Tijuana used to be the bomb twenty years ago, yet no longer.

I guess I should count my blessings as I have gotten to experience Medellin going back 15 years.
On a good and positive note on Medellin is that the city is very large, so it will never become Sosua or Cartagena w these so called Weekend warriors I read so much about lately. Why the worry? Let those who want to spend their money spend their money, let them have Parque Llera, Gusto, Etc. Also most folks here or comments on this are so exaggerating on the issue.

We all know the real Medellin is in Laureles, Centro, the casas, the apartments, all spread out and most of the fake ballers we speak of have zero skills or too lazy to navigate those for the most part.

Then let's not forget the most beautiful women in Colombia IMO come from Pereira, Risaralda. If you use SA you know what I mean and the fake ballers know nothing of sorts.

I can't lie that at one point I considered living in El Poblado if I moved to Mde, but now not a chance. I would and could do so elsewhere since the City itself is still OK. I know most of the guys who are complaining are mostly the ones living there understandably, likely on a tighter budget, including one of you (Not you Surfer500) who sent me a harsh and rude PM after my recent report all because I wrote that I tipped once at the Face2 stage. Said I was also ruining the game for him, and accused me of being also a one-Week Millionaire.

Some of the guys on this forum are a bit too fragile, too told, and just straight hating and exaggerating on many who are truly trying to have some fun. Ruining the game is one thing by making it rain, vs Tipping your favorite stripper 20 k pesos!

Because if someone who tips $5 USD in Medellin ruins your life then maybe what I would write you should do would get me banned here LOL. Seriously. The complaining is just as overwhelming as the actual nonsense in El Poblado. It's laughable really. I meet the old farts all the time in the casas and centro, and they almost never step foot in Gusto and will be the first one to come here to be rude. I'm not on anyone's side, I'm on the cheap side, my side, and I'm not a big spender, except when I'm celebrating on occasion, maybe trying to impress a new non-pro, etc. Heck I'm still young and it's my fucking money that I work hard for LOL.

I'm tagging your post Surfer so don't think I'm directing this at you, it's really to the one especially who was had an issue w me mentioning that I tipped. Also just cause you see a gringo in their 20's or 30's dress really nice, it doesn't automatically means he's going to ruin your life in Medellin. I know, sounds absurd!

A mid-range Bottle at Gusto or Llera club cust 300-500 k. That's $80-$125 on average and split usually by 4 dudes. Those aren't ballers. Point is the negativity is too much and it's just a bunch of hate IMO on the younger crowd who recently discovered mongering. That's all it is. There, I said it, so Stop it!

Carry On with the Fuckery!! . With our hairless balls and wrinkly peckers!!

    Beware Karo Rojas scammer

    https://www.facebook.com/karo.rojas.771

I forgot whether I added her or she added me, but anyways, I wasn't planning to see her since she wasn't that good looking, but she had nice tits so I took a chance. She comes by and acts all nervous and doesn't talk much. She starts taking off her clothes and grabbing my dick, but as I normally do I ask her for her cedula and she says she doesn't have one and she's a minor (actually she looks like she's in her mid-20's). I'm like OK hold up, we need to stop. Let me pay you 200 mil like we agreed to on Facebook and you can leave. She's like no, you pay me more. I asked how much, she said 200 dollars, and I showed her our FB conversation where we specifically said 200 mil. She's says yes 200 thousand dollars. She's not very good at this scamming thing.

So assessing my personal situation, I have several things in my advantage. First the Airbnb I rent has a camera outside. I told her if she sends people to get violent with me, it'll all be recorded. Second, I told her I have a recording device near the bed which recorded our entire conversation including her telling me she was 19 before switching her story and then threatening to scam me. This is actually true. I do have a recording device for my own safety. Third, no sexual contact occurred except what she initiated, so there would be no evidence of penetration or whatever. Lastly, she's undoubtedly over 18, cedula or no cedula, so there's no legal issue. I said she can call the police and I can call my consulate. Everything will be on record, including her FB conversation as well as what she said indoors.

Since I live in an Airbnb with other bilingual people nearby, one happened to walk by and I asked him for help, explained the situation to him in English. Meanwhile Karo has no idea wtf we're talking about and can only assume we had plans for her. She got more cooperative afterwards. She still tried to get me to pay 800 thousand COP and I told her, be reasonable and you can go, but be unreasonable and we can tell the police how you're trying to scam me. She agreed to take 300 mil and leave.

Well I'm in an Airbnb that doesn't have a doorman, so I'm responsible for my own safety so these are things I personally have to deal with. If you're in San Peter's this wouldn't even happen, but there are pros and cons to each choice. If you're like me and you rent an Airbnb without a doorman who checks cedulas, it helps to have cameras and recording devices around to help protect yourself.

Lastly here are her FB profile pics in case she changes her profile, and some naughty pics that I indirectly paid for.

[Pictures Deleted by Admin as you wrote she said she is minor.]

    Drogas Calidad Has Cheapest Sildenafil

Last time I bought generic sildenafil (same as Viagra), price was 1400 pesos for 2 x 50 MG tablets of La Santé brand. This is at Drogas Calidad, CL 54 # 47-29, across street and up a bit from Parque Bolivar. Shop early because there's usually a line. The store also delivers free anywhere in the city. If I call an order in at 7, a motorcycle guy usually delivers to Belen around 11, which is when I pay cash. When I first came to Medellin, I shopped around and never found another drugstore with cheaper prices.

I think you mean exponentially. Logarithmic increases, the increase is at a decreasing rate, and that does not sound like what you are describing.

Note that they use language acquisition as an example of logarithmic growth, but I think that process has multiple inflection points.

They get drunk and can't keep it together, expect to get laid just because of their passport, talk to the waiters in English as if they understand, I've seen it too many times.

IMO this is also the stereotype that working girls, taxi drivers, and locals have of gringos, much to my dismay.

Even though paisas are extremely kind, I'd say they resent the aforementioned weekend warrior types, treating the city like an amusement park.

Wow. Ostersnot just popped into memory from some strange reason.

If you guys enjoy stating at that place you should stop posting about this. You will discourage prospective customers to the point of putting the place out of business.

My regular recharged 10 mil pesos yesterday but that looks like it was data only recharge and no SMS. Is there an amount of recharge that can give messages and calls so I can get whatsapp verified here while on roaming. I think claro connects via Verizon here.

    Santa Marta

I have been living in Santa Marta for a year now and always feel safe but I also don't put myself in situations that could be dangerous.

The area around carrera 3 and Calle 17-18 is where all the night action is lots of bars restaurants really packed on the weekends is pretty safe just don't be stupid and you'll be fine.

I agree, first timers and English only should really value that place. I am neither. It just fits my style. I'm not a high quantity guy. More often than not I max out at 2 dates per day. I also put an emphasis on service over finding a 10. And perhaps the most attractive feature to me is the ability to sit and talk with a girl. I know many don't agree with my style. But getting to know the girl a bit leads to a vastly better session in my experience. At the mansion, you could sit at the pool and flirt with a girl without spending a dime. That "interview" helps me identify the ones that will work out better in the room. At least that's my experience. But as I said, it's not for everyone.
