Legality and the public perception are two different things. Colombia, along with many other Latin American countries, tolerate prostitution and have not made it illegal. But when a place becomes viewed as a sex tourism destination there is public disgust and politicians feel obligated to act. Prostitution is tolerated, not liked or loved or admired. If you listen to local radio you will hear the story every time some foreigner is charged with some illegal act, and your taxi driver will comment on it. Basically blame the foreigner. No one says anything about the rampant sexual activity especially in poorer areas and resulting in very few virgins older than 14 or so. It can be politically popular to campaign to clean up the streets of Lleras, for example. And to keep all commercial sex hidden or at least not on front pages by having the areas of tolerance, etc. For a Colombian man it is known that they see working girls, but no one wants to talk about it, know about it, or have it in their face.

So what may be legal may not help you if someone decides to make an example out of you. You are assumed guilty if you are charged with something. So you will probably be in custody (jail) waiting for your case to be heard. You may well get a fair trial, if you live that long.

So true, it is unlikely you will have any problems if you quietly do your own personal thing, visit local establishments, and generally keep a reasonably low profile. But the moment you get into running tours or advertising back home. Anything seen as promoting sex tourism. You have painted a target on your back. In my opinion not worth doing.

Don't worry about me I always fly under the radar and keep a very low profile. I travel solo and use SA almost exclusively. I just wanted to verify my understanding of the legality of prostitution in Columbia. I also only stay in places where ID is verified by security. And I never post anything about mongering on social media just basic travel photos.

I can see guys easily freaking out and handing over the $ 200 USD versus the 200,000 COP. And the $ 200 USD is almost a months salary in Colombia.

I bet she has a pretty good batting average with the scam she's pulling.

I have no personal Fayboo experience, but suspect a lot more scamming is going on than people realize because most guys wouldn't be posting about what happened like you have.

That's the thing, there's really no preventing scams if the girl really wants to do it unless you really want to involve the Colombian justice system. In Bogota I've had a girl come in my room with a valid cedula, but refuse to do anything. What can you really do in that case except pay her to leave right? The thing with Karo is roughly equivalent in the end, except with more drama. The recording devices are there as a last resort in case if ever the police are involved, but you'd rather pay a few hundred mil to avoid the problem and warn others about the biatch.

And it's not just a Colombian problem or FB problem, I've had similar non-performers in Angeles City Philippines. Any Centro chica can do the same in a hotel room, claiming you abused her or whatever. I personally have encountered this enough times to do the best I can do prep for it.

She is a Centro girl. She is a bad girl and I quickly noticed that 3 of her friends are trouble too. I do not have time to go through her 1000+ friends list. But I know there are more. Check under her picture for "mutual friends" on your FB account. Her friends list are a Hit List of who to avoid. Unfriend all her friends. The more foreigners shown on these girls friends list make other foreigners think they are good and safe girls. So if there are very few foreigners listed as friends on her account it may help other foreigners question her as being a good girl or not. Example: I know and like Bob. I see a Karo listed as one of Bob's friends. Since Bob has her as a friend she must be safe right? Wrong! Delete the witch and help other guys out.

The smoothest way I was taken was Valentina. She has a huge rack and I told her I wanted to suck on them and she said ok. She takes a shower and then I do. When I walk into the room she is rubbing baby oil on her tits and chest so that I could not suck on them.

There is a very short thin spinner with no tits working Parque Lleras. She has a true baby face. She worked Centro and got me. Took her bottom half clothes off but not the top half. That was extra. Turned around with her shoes on into the doggie position and that was all I got. That was two years ago and I was mad I paid 40,000 COP versus some poor guy paying 150,000+ COP in Parque Lleras.

I completely agree. Many of us have been around long enough to witness what happened to the owner of Passions (Sosua), Cuba Dave (San Jose), Colombia Jake (Medellin), and the Israeli Hostel (Cartagena / Santa Marta). In each of those episodes the locals were fine when the profile was low, but as soon as the promotion started they were taken down.

To be honest that is my primary concern with the Weekend Warriors. It isn't so much concern around raising prices as them drawing too much attention to the sex tourism while Medellin is increasingly trying to promote itself as a broader (and cleaner) cultural vacation and digital nomad destination. The locals and business people are trying to draw in more families and everyday tourists who unsurprisingly don't appreciate a loud, drunk, obnoxious gangs of mongers negotiating threesomes and multiple leches in the middle of Parque Lleras. If people aren't careful the politicians will come hard and try to clean it up even more than they historically have. Of course Centro will always exist, but many of the other spots will be cleaned up or made more difficult to operate.

It's ok if admin needs to delete this again, but she is clearly not, and even if she is I think regular profile pictures should be OK right? I think it's in the interest of the community to know this person so the scam can be avoided.

I think we are saying the same thing. When I refer to market rates I mean 30 K (sometimes a little less) plus room. It hasn't changed. Foreigners, especially the weekend warrior variety, have always been a market of its own. Girls and gringos tell me the average fee is 50 K (sometimes more) plus room. If girls are standing their ground and refusing to go with any foreigner for a market rate then I stand corrected but I haven't noticed it. I realize there are foreigners who don't know enough to challenge above market offers. They are the guys who make the foreigner market. However gold chain wearing big swinging dick types come to Centro, I struggle to imagine a time when it will cost 300 K to get a girl in Plaza Botero. Life is full of surprises so time will tell.

Be advised that North Americans and Europeans are subject to the laws of their country of citizenship wherever they may be, including Colombia. This means if prostitution is not legal in your country of citizenship then you are breaking the law in your country. Enforcement risk is a related but different subject. In basic terms the risk of enforcement increases in direct proportion to how much attention you call to yourself. You are also at greater enforcement risk if you are a traveling offender because immigration authorities are on the lookout for single travelers of a certain demographic profile. The long and short of it is the guys who publish social media content and make spectacles of themselves put everyone at greater risk. As we've seen, governments tend to eliminate the problem.

Isn't prostitution legal in Columbia so long as the girl is 18? Isn't just the pimping, making money off of someone else prostituting, that is illegal?

If you guys enjoy stating at that place you should stop posting about this. You will discourage prospective customers to the point of putting the place out of business.

With all due respect, we're better off knowing. As I just posted, I love this place for the casual environment with the girls during the day. I believe most would agree that based on accommodations, there is better value elsewhere. The draw, in my opinion, is the daytime access to the girls. If that ever goes away, so do their customers in my opinion.

Again, I don't mean this as snarky. But reporting the current situation seems to be the prudent thing to do. I really hope they recover from the current situation and return to normal. They are great people and I want them to succeed as much as anyone. I'm a fan of theirs. But I wish some other mongers let me know the situation before my trip last week. You said there were more guys then girls at M1 but then you said all the rooms were vacant? Its been over a year since I stayed there but have been staying there since 2006. Last time I was there it was very busy with the ladies.

I usually stay at M1 for just a night or 2 then get an Airbnb. If its that slow I may not stay on my next trip. Its a great location for sure. Pretty high rates if your getting a nice room there w / Jacuzzi.

Sorry I confused you. Yes, both are true. A lot of vacant rooms. But the guys still outnumbered the girls. Literally, there were two days where there were only 2 girls there all day. It was very disappointing.

Yes, the rooms are high by Colombian standards. And the accommodations, while clean and safe, are just not that good. I justify it with the interactions throughout the day. But last week was a disappointment for sure.

SA girl was basically the high end of the range there, which again I'm not so proud of. Yes received BBBJ from here and the majority of the 5-6 chicas on the trip, with the exception of the threesome with the centro SWs. Only 1 chica went for no condom during sex, it just wasn't discussed (also she was the only good morning sex).

Re: scopamine- after everything closed in El Poblado I was chatting with a group of 3 chicas. They said there was a place still open, and took me to a party bus wagon that drives you to Seven Club. A young Colombian guy kinda merged in our group and we were all drinking together. After arriving to the club, things got incredibly blurry for about an hour, and then I looked at the Colombian guy and he was passed out and throwing up, whereas the girls were fine. So that's when I suspected something bad happened, and I was able to pull myself together sufficiently to call an Uber and get out of there (dropped off the passed out Colombiano in El Poblado too). Felt pretty crappy for the next 2 days, but feel like I managed to dodge something much worse. Google Reviews of the place report similar experiences. Maybe it was something else or a low dosage because I snapped out of it eventually. I guess just a warning for anyone that gets on that party bus after the bars close in El Poblado, be very careful with what you drink / ingest.

I'll be in MDE Friday and need a wingman. This will be my first time there.
