Following 4 days in Bogota, my first 5 days ever in Medellin. Stayed at the Haven in El Poblado, got the suite with indoor jacuzzi, all good but overall hotel services is just average. Some observations and notes from the recent posts that I've read. My hotel is on the south end of LA 70 and it's only a 10 minute walk to the Estadio metro station. 3 stops and your at San Antonio station, 3 minute walk to Park Botero, no need to change trains and go the 1 stop, it's really close, just follow the overhead metro line. If your going to stay anywhere around LA 70, there is going to be noise until 4 am or so, being higher up helps but bring earplugs or be a heavy sleeper, I seem to have gotten used to the noise and can sleep with it. If your going to go out drinking, don't get drunk, only carry on you what you can afford to loose and "No dar papaya" as the saying goes. I do carry a cheap cell that I bought here in Colombia and have to use it at least once when with a girl as my spanish is not great, just be aware of when you pull it out and keep it in your pocket all other times and you'll be fine. Get a Civica Eventual card and put 20k on it from any metro station ticket booth, it will last a long time and shows how much left on the card everytime you use it. If you plan to take the tramway to Park Arvi it does cost more, 9k each way I think, so you have to load more on the card.

I've got 2 more days in Medellin and leave for the Amazon region on the 30th, I'll try to post any update in the Other Areas section of the forum. I want to ask for advice about using the Airport Bus from Rio Negro to Medellin.

I want to use the Bus when I arrive in late October.

Is this doable and safe to go out from the Bus at this time and at this place with my Luggage and take a taxi from there? Are there Taxis already waiting?

My suggestion is to book an Arbnb or hotel in either laureles or nearby poblado for a couple of nights. You can take the metro or cab to see el centro and see if that kind of environment suits you? Be aware that a lot of the supporters of el centro here don't venture out at night for good reasons. This board is dominated by members that swear that el centro is great. I don't agree with that but I respect their opinions. I personally don't go there. If you want to stay in an arbnb in laureles, I would be careful about booking a room in SanPeter. The noise level is intolerable unless you are lucky enough to get a sound proof room. Only a few of the rooms provide that. Good luck.
