I see some prices quoted as "mil" on here and I am not sure how to translate that. Obviously it's not 50 mil COP. What does that abbreviation translate to in comparison of say 100,000 COP?

For some reason guys like to mix in Spanish words (mil, chica, mas taxi) in their English reports. Mil is Spanish for thousand.

I am getting a bad feeling about Colombia. It's too much stress. I don"t need that on vacation. I was there for two weeks in November, it was fine, I marked it off the bucket list however I think Philippines is the new Colombia. I've booked a really nice airbnb for August.

But Phillipines has bad food, bad water, bad internet and bad cellular service so it's safer there but has some disavantage too.

The problem is dating is maximum effort minimum reward. Prostitution is minimum effort maximum reward. As more guys travel and monger, marriage and dating will be obsolete. I've been with around 200 women. The amount of work I would have had to put in to close that many deals would have been insane, and I still wouldn't have accomplished 200 women.

What maximum effort? All you have to do is be yourself. You must be really young. I had been with 200 free women by the time I had left college. I did not start mongering until 7 years after that.

For the average man of the western world, dating and marriage are becoming unthinkable in his own country. I read stats of 2023 that 40% men from 18 to 30 have completely stopped seeking women for sex in the west. Not marriage but sex.

For me it's more like, if you save up the money and don't need to work or at least can work from home, why stay in the US? So many beautiful places in the world that aren't dealing with wokeism and for half the cost. Go for the girls, sure, but stay for everything else. Cheap travel, services, food, housing. Although I still want to end up living in the US later, right now it just doesn't make sense.

Thanks for the tip. I'll change my USD into Colombian pesos. Will get a large number of medium to small bills, so I won't be dropping large notes when paying for stuff out in public.

My suggestion is to open a Morgan Stanley or Charles Schwab account with an ATM card. Both banks reimburse ATM fees.

I think it's good you are experiencing more of the city. I agree you should look for buildings with a doorman and all other amenities you want or need. I personally won't live in a building without a doorman. As you discover more of the city it will be come clear that the vast majority of buildings (including those with doormen) are definitely not in the two neighborhoods you mentioned. Medellin is more diverse than it appears through the lens of areas most familiar to gringos.

But the vas majority of buildings with doormen are probably located in the barrios I mentioned. It does enhance safety I agree but I have lately ventured in to la Amrica, BA and Belen type barrios and mostly independent homes or buildings. I would have to go back and specifically look for doorman or budling security before renting now.

I didn't watch the youtube video. I see no problems with the plan you worked out. You are likely aware of the additional tips of being vigilant about your drinks and food and securing and / or hiding your valuables.

Don't use US dollars. If you bring them with you it's easy to get them changed to pesos and will save you money in most cases.

There are buildings with doormen in every barrio of Medellin. You would be in no way restricted to gringo neighborhoods if you were to adopt that policy. My opinion is it does enhance safety.

Amen to that. This is why some people are getting rich on onlyfans. It's safe and convenient. And then there is sex tourism.

I think this is something like what unions did to US industry. Workers kept demanding more and more, which is fine you can demand whatever you want, but then one day the factory moves to China or Mexico.

I predict that fastest growing companies of the next decade will be those manufacturing cat food. Cats are the only hope for lonely women everywhere.
