It's simple, there's a market, someone will always come along to exploit it. Most newbies have at least some clue. They may make a few mistakes, but they muddle through and learn. There are others who either can't or won't learn. They either end up with someone like Jake or they end up becoming either a nuisance or a headline.
If they end up swept up with Jake, it's no loss.

Like Cuba Dave, Jake was waving a big red flag around. Why would one want to be anywhere near a guy waving a big red flag around ?

Regarding Jonesie, if one is to be inciteful, one should at least be accurate.
Tell us all what illegal activities Jonesie is up to?
How is he exploiting women?
The scum part is your personal opinion. which I can neither verify nor disprove

Posts: 114If you live in Colombia, you will never see Jake again. Nobody could see this coming, except the local police that stated publicly they were after this sort of operation just a couple of months ago, and anybody else with a brain.
Jake gave gringos a bad name. I never used his "services", but can't say I will miss him.

Posts: 766Not sure if the following applies to Jake, but since pimping less-than-legal-age girls applies to his situation, I imagine so:
"Colombia: Article 219 of the Colombian criminal code prohibits, "organizing or facilitating sexual tourism and provides penalties of 3 to 8 years' imprisonment", but there were no reported prosecutions or convictions of child sex tourists. In recent years, Colombia has strengthened legislation related to control trafficking of children, particularly to follow the criminal code. However, a law is still pending approval by the Code for Children and Adolescents, which includes the rights and guarantees of children and adolescents victims of commercial sexual exploitation. ".
And also:
"Under the PROTECT Act of April 2003, it is a federal crime, prosecutable in the United States, for a USA Citizen or permanent resident alien, to engage in illicit sexual conduct in a foreign country with a person under the age of 18, whether or not the USA Citizen or lawful permanent resident alien intended to engage in such illicit sexual conduct prior to going abroad. For purposes of the PROTECT Act, illicit sexual conduct includes any commercial sex act in a foreign country with a person under the age of 18. The law defines a commercial sex act as any sex act, on account of which anything of value is given to or received by a person under the age of 18. Before congressional passage of the Protect Act of 2003, prosecutors had to prove that sex tourists went abroad with the intent of molesting childrensomething almost impossible to demonstrate. The Protect Act shifted the burden, making predators liable for the act itself. Penalties were doubled from 15 years in prison to 30. ".
