many mongers will stay for a month or more so it does not affect them. the "real tourists" are just passing thru for a few days and are opting for apartments rather than putting up the family in a hotel. the hotels are well aware of cl and other venues and are acting in there own self interest. if there were any major players in mde they would band together to form an association and make there voices (money) heard!

Posts: 231Dusty apartment crap on CL
that was a hoax, i contacted the poster to buy all or lease, never returned the email. that cl post was put there to scare off foreign investors. i think someone was taking a shot at me, funny he mentions the same apartment number he owns, i own that number. he says in ny freezing, i am in ny freezing. my new problem at soto, i'll go long term, short term or i'll sell them for a profit through first american. it's that simple. meanwhile good colombian real-estate continues to rise. if it goes sideways or down, i'm 42, who knows what will be in 15-20 years. chess thanks man for the kind words. me and ruben actually care about our clients, that's our secret our niche, i also can decorate the crap out of apartment, and yes i have some deep pockets, it wasn't handed to me i carved it out myself. go go gold & silver, still plenty of room to run on silver. never say i didn't give a tip. now soto verde says i can't have any women enter my apartments, gearing up for a lawsuit and half.
barry.

In the first place this should be in the apts thread. But anyway, I don't doubt that there are some people who bought, who decided they didn't want to live full-time in Medallo, and then have various degrees of difficulty in renting their places out. But the most prominent investor-renter is Bbrocs, who by all appearances is a pretty good guy. He has not had any problem in turn of occupancy or ROI, but in his brutal honesty he has posted (in the appropriate apt section) problems he has run into with the 30 day rule. This 30 day rule is designed to eliminate short-term apt rentals. The goal is not completely illogical, if the condos, which is mostly what they are, are rented to guys with prurient interests, then this impacts the other condo owners, in that low-rent, or high-rent, but rentable chicas, and perhaps shit-faced foreigners, are their new neighbors. But, recognizing the logic in the law, it makes me in the first place realize, again, the dangers of investing in a foreign country where you don't know all the laws or ins and outs, or for that matter to what extent you will realize your imagined paradise there. But I get the impression our friend Bbrocs has deep enough pockets, not immeasurably deep, but deep enough, to weather the storm, or even the permanent change. I hope so, as he seems quite the decent person. Also, at such time as I retire, in a few years, a monthly rental would be perfect for me, as it may be for many of you right now. As for despondent investors, in the first place I don't believe it, in the second Barry's places are the best, by the week or the month as the case may be.

It seems you are a little "Unluckie" when it comes to travel agents. Better inform the Dali, that flight 443 on Feb. 12 leaves out of Atlanta at 4:55 pm, and arrives in Bogota at 9:42 pm. Which means of course you will miss your Avianca flight to MDE, and will have to spend the night in Bogota and catch a flight to MDE the next day. Bummer.

Rodeo, never would have known that (seriously!). I have been stuck in the Miami airport but never more than.
3 hrs. Sounds like an idea if you are stuck there for more than 5, I'd have to look into that someday

I just hope Jackson doesn't come on here and move all of these airline posts over to Expedia or Orbitz, you know what a stick in the mud that guy is.

Posts: 734How about trying Montreal. NYC. Medellin?
I've done NYC to Medellin / Bogota a couple of times. It sure beats hanging out in Miami airport for 6 hours.

The best way to do it is to connect through Miami or Orlando. You need to book 2 separate flights. One from Montreal to Miami and the other from Miami to Medellin. Give yourself lots of time to connect in Miami as the flights from South America are often delayed. Let me know if you need any further info.
