I did not see this coming. Botero Plaza is nearly back to normal. The only difference now is there are no tourists. The girls are back. The benches are full of people chatting. Traffic is also picking up. I notice many more personal cars than last week. It is still mostly taxis and motorcycles. Two people on a motorcycle is prohibited but I saw a few of those today, one that got stopped by the police. Even fewer people are wearing masks. In fact, I passed a butcher shop where the butcher was cutting meat with no mask. He was at least wearing gloves.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases is somewhere around 900 and deaths are still 10. There are 10 confirmed recoveries. If today is any indication, just like the pre lockdown one day pause that wasn't supposed to happen, I think it will be hard to enforce a lockdown past April 13. I really hope it doesn't cause a spike in infections.

This photo was taken on Saturday at the intersection of Calle 52 & Calle 53, also known as "Ground Zero", and also referred to at times as "Little Caracas".

The definitions of ground zero include either, 1) A starting base or center of activity, or 2) The point directly below where a nuclear explosion occurs.

Sadly we have now gone from definition one, the "mecca" for El Centro street walkers, too definition two, a place devoid of anyone.

It's incredibly depressing to see this. Hopefully, and very soon, will have our "mecca" back.

1. mongering is normal.

2. the whole country is full of hookers.

3. the citizens are indifferent to it or even welcoming if it.

You hit the nail on the head. There is a certain kind of hobbyist who is otherwise responsible and sensible but suspends reality when it comes to mongering. That is the mentality that leads to all kinds of problems. Ending up as a crime victim, ending up as convicted sex criminal, etc.

Believe or not, just because prostitution is legal, and it's more acceptable for men to be with younger women in Colombia doesn't mean that it's not a stigma for most Colombians to find out a family member is a hooker. Hence that's why I think you find girls working in casa's far away from their barrios telling their families they work in a store somewhere. And 40 K based on the Colombian minimum wage is about a day's pay, so it's lot of money for an hour's work.

I know Colombians that if they knew what I do when in Medellin, they would never speak to me again.

I suppose it depends on which friends, whether they don't know, or don't want to know. I know exactly what Surfer is saying, because I have friends like that. I've listened to a few of them. They don't accept prostitution as normal and they don't realize how common it is. Even if they see a 60 year old gringo, having breakfast with a 20 year old chica, they don't assume it's the end of a TLN, which is what most of us would assume.

Here's two perspectives:

One night, two webcam models I was working with, sisters, wanted to meet for drinks, after their shows. I had them come to Jenson's, off Calle 10 near Parque Lleras.

To them, we were just 2 normal people, not a hooker and client.

Great points. Plus they do not the realize the work, time and money to be successful in other destinations. They think it is easy and all they have to do is show up and girls will be begging to be with them, and for little money. We hear a lot of positive stories, but I am sure pride gets in the way of hearing when guys fail and it is way more common then guys realize, it is just not that easy flying to other countries, not understanding the culture, currency, and not speaking the language.

That is exactly right. I first came to Colombia for work reasons and I've had years of professional interaction with Colombians. Although they participate it is frowned upon and a source of national shame. There is an active and years long campaign against sex tourism and the sex trade in general. One of my favorite Provenza restaurants has a "say no to sex tourism" sign prominently displayed.

Another way to look at it is the girls at the strip clubs are in it for the long run. They are committed and full of silicone as proof. You see much less of that at casas, especially the mid to low end (Centro) casas.

I don't think SA allows nudity in photos, but I'm not 100%. Most have bikini / lingerie in their Private Photos, which you need approval to see (you can request). I took these pics the 2 times she came over. Ok, relatively speaking, for a 98 lb girl, she has big tits. No, they are not big tits if you are comparing her to the 180 lb broad in Juggs.
