Let me start by saying I am no expert, and still many many trips behind lots of guys.

I see these questions a lot and what I hope newbies realize is it varies greatly depending on you.

1) I am sure there are some guys that get in a cab and show there map directly to the cabbie and take it to the front door. I personally like to be a little more discreet. I usually grab a taxi and tell them "el centro", "San Juan y Oriental". Then for the day I use the bright colored yellow bricks that divide the traffic has my reference point for the day. After a day or 2 you will figure out how to find a handful of casas from this area. You can also catch a taxi or bus from this area easy.

2) I honestly don't know where else you would take a street walker. Short term hotels are all over the place. Yes it is safe, is it safe for you that is the question. If you have never been to centro, don't speak Spanish, and have all these safety questions I don't see you making this happen this trip.

3) I have never felt any danger in a casa, that would be bad for business. Some casas have a more chill environment than others. I personally couldn't imagine hanging out in new life after my session for another but there are other casas that have little bars or TVs where it is a more laid back atmosphere. But there are little shops and cafes all over the place. You can not walk a block without passing a Pan shop or some place to grab a bit and recover.

4) Most of these casas are on little side roads, I have never seen taxis waiting outside. Again, respect the locals and keep it discreet as possible. But short walk to a main road will find you plenty of taxis.

5) Centro safety, I personally have never felt in danger in centro and I don't speak Spanish and I am not a tough guy. I do walk with a purpose, walk like I know where I am going and I don't pull my cell out in public. If I need to use my phone I step into a farmicia or cafe or something like that. I basically don't do anything to draw extra attention to myself and act like I have a business being there. Now there probably are some clueless guys that should never be there. Is that you? I do not know. I will say as you notice the shops and vendors closing up shop you shouldn't still be there unless you know where you are going or plan on using a taxi. At this hour your options are pretty much only strip clubs or sw anyway.

I avoided el centro my last trip to Medellin, I stayed at the Mansion and only messed with the chicas there. I'll be returning soon and I plan to spend my days with chicas from the casas and nights with the Mansion chicas. I could use some advice on casas in el centro. I plan to take a taxi to El Centro. I hear it's dangerous at night so I plan to go during the day. I will be traveling alone and I don't speak Spanish. I have a few questions.

1. Do I take cab directly to the casa or just get out in the Centro area and walk to the different casas if it's safe to do so?

2. Is it safe to take a streetwalker to a short time room?

3. Is it safe to spend a few hours in a casa for multiple sessions?

4. When leaving casa's do you call taxi or are there taxis parked out waiting?

5. What time is the latest I can safely stay in the Centro.

This is a disturbing post as I totally enjoy staying at the Blux. But I also suspect it is only a portion of the rental units. Large or small portion, who knows. Whatever the case, it appears to be a trend that may force a change in the MDE scene. I for one enjoy the buildings with security for a couple of reasons. One, it keeps visitors from being a front door surprise. Secondly, it allows me to feel more secure / isolated from the sometimes dangerous world that exists on the streets of Medellin. Before we know it, these legal short-term apartment rentals will be extinct. So either I will have to be satisfied more with the casas / clubs or start looking to spend more time in SE Asia or the less desirable / secure areas of MDE.

I've recently been in contact with Blux inquiring about their apartments. Their management stated guest are welcome but must sign in. I'm still considering staying at Blux my next trip. Have you stayed at Blux before? If so, I take it you consider the area safe. Other than what's been recently reported did you have any issues bringing chicas in?

I'll be visiting Medellin soon and I can't decide if I should stay at Blux or the Mansion. I've been to the Mansion before so I have a few chicas contacts. My question is the safety. How safe is it at Blux Apartments and can I come in and out with different girls? Also, how far is Blux from the Mansion? There has been a change in a majority of the short term rental market (air bnb) in Med. Bascially what happened at blux was too many parties and cops being called and domestic violence. The people that live in the building had a meeting and now it became strict.

I think its a game of cat and mouse.

Personally I think Blux is like tooo gringo and you get a girl that has been there 100 x before and is almost like a robot going thru the motions. I get the safety factor but places like laurles and belen even offer a more normal setting. Yes it is still CO but you know how it goes.

I think the crack down will contiune until some people get paid off. It's ok really, let those animals that cause a ruckas do it at hotels and not in nice apartments living with other locals.
