How did you meet her? I mean if she had a regular maid income, are you saying she was a prostitute only in emergency situations? I wouldn't place that kind of guilt on yourself bro. You could have sent her money but who knows if she even would have gone to the hospital with it. At the end of the day its safe to assume she was using old every day money sucking techniques. I get that she died and that sucks.

But its not something you could have with 100% certainty stopped. She was a working girl bro, sad that she died, but you don't know her full intentions. Again, she didn't ask you to call the hospital and pay a medical bill. She wanted cold hard untraceable cash. You always have to assume the worst with these women. Protect yourself at all times!

This was not a party girl or hooker earning decent money. This girl did not have tons of family, friends, neighbors, classmates, coworkers, government officials, etc. (Hell, I don't have that either. I have a few good friends and a few relatives.) This was a non pro who earned about 200 to 300 usd a month as a maid. Her few good friends and family were dirt poor. For them to gather up 2 grand for that operation on short notice would be close to impossible.

The bottom line is that she is now dead and if I had given her the money, she would very likely be alive today.

Again, I agree that money should almost never be given to these girls because they are mostly full of BS. But there are exceptions.

That is a very important distinction. That sort of thing doesn't happen nearly as often in hotels because of the security and front desk people who are on the lookout for it. The trade off of course is you can't bring in whoever and how many you want. Everything has its pluses and minuses. Be informed and decide for yourselves.

I find it interesting that the girls will provide a session for 150 k yet when they meet or know you, you become their only source of income? I have many FB contacts and the majority of them have asked for money. One after I got to know her told me it is always good to try to see if they can get money It can't hurt to try.

It is foolish because that is not your responsibility. Why go broke in a quest to figure out which occasions it may be justified for? Chick asks you for money for a new roof. You don't give it. It rains in the house and she catches pneumonia and dies. Chick asks you for taxi money. You don't give it. She runs across the street to catch the bus and gets hit by a car and dies.

Two things people will always need are air and money. When you turn that faucet on, it may not be so easy to turn off. Just say no from the beginning and leave it at that. If someone stops dealing with you because you will not send them money, that may be a person you may not want to be dealing with in the first place. I use credit card not big on loan but might look into debits cards now if I can find one offers reimbursement from Scandinavia. But usually when fees are high I take extra couple of dollars that keeps running a couple of days.

That makes sense thanks for the feedback, I just thinking about the safety when withdrawing from an ATM. Also I have a visa credit card from a European bank so I expect some fees depending on my bank.

Check out Bank Norwegian CC. No need to open bank account and at least where I'm living they have the lowest fees; no yearly fee, no fee for ATM withdrawals abroad and free travel insurance if you buy your ticket with their card etc.

What's wrong with actually using Schwab's brokerage? I have been with them for a few years now and haven't had any problems. Am I missing something? I moved to them when I found out about the ATM reimbursement and no foreign exchange fees.

I googled it out of curiosity. It costs them about $600 to gain a new customer. So ATM fee forgiveness might just be a promotion to attract customers. Maybe people who travel have the characteristics that Schwab seeks in their customers. One guy read the 10-K report and found that they have 10 million customers with 2. 7 trillion in assets. So the average customer has $270 k in their account.

Fidelity does the same thing.

It seems they have 2 games. One is 5-10 COP no limit. That is a good game. People call all ins with draws. I got very unlucky there the last 2 times. Lost huge pots to flushes. Other game is either 1-3 or 2-5 no limit.

Nothing at all and when I was active in the stock market I used Schwab all the time. I am no longer in the market, I'm too busy enjoying my twilight years to be bothered to do the research required to be a good stock investor.
